I'd also include one questions in that, we're quite happy for people, asking a question, to create a new topic and not be forced into that thread (granted it hasn't had much use lately anyway) and also to broaden out discussion on new interests like 3DS or E3. |
To be honest, the pokemon B&W thread I set up was originally intended to find out where had the cheapest price/best pre-order, sort of like a one question. Although when I last checked it had blossomed to around 20 pages filled B&W discussion. I do agree with closing 'mega threads' however.
Also, I am in favour of getting rid of negative's, as most of the time, as others have pointed out, it's people with grudges against other members.
Also, I would be more than happy to lend my hand into "re-creating" the game exchange if that is what it took, a few members that would be dedicated to the GE and sorting out problems, etc. _________________ I have no signature

Well now I feel like I have to put my 2 cents in (And it's barely 1 gajillion times a day thank you)
The what ticks you off thread as far as I can see isn't really there for discussion, it's somewhere you can just vent and get shit off your chest. The smiles thread is a similar thing. Not everything needs it's own thread. That doesn't mean it doesn't deserve to be said though. They're like someone else said great for getting to know other members. Most of the people I've become friends with through the forum are through those kinds of threads.
While everything is all changing and shit though, can someone please fix up the swear filter with c*ck? I mean if dick is fine to say then why not c*ck? And hell that wouldn't be that much of an issue if it didn't block out so many damm innocuous words. It's a pain in the arse.
Also, question with the Mega Threads.
Does that include shit like the Street Fighter 4 thread or the Blazblue and those? I mean since the multiplayer meet up forum is gone, and we're not allowed to have those threads do we just start a new thread evertime we're looking for someone to play or what? I mean that's half what those threads are. _________________

As i understand it, the push to dissolve 'Mega Thread' syndrome is more about us cooling off on closing new threads while pointing at already established threads of a similar nature and saying 'talk about it in there' than users not being able to create threads of a multi-purpose nature. _________________

I'm sure you guys have already thought it through, but without Game Exchange, the traffic to your site will likely decrease. I for one used to check that thing like 10 times a day.
And when I'd go to Game Exchange, I'd also see what news and reviews were there. Without this drawcard, I'll be attracted to other sites, as I'm sure will some other people.
For all the issues and drama, most of us knew the traders who could be trusted and we steered clear of those that looked like scammers. If it was for legal reasons I can understand. if it was for "it's too much hassle" reasons, well I don't get it. People know the risks. Some lessons have to be learnt the hard way.
Maybe I'm just a bastard. _________________

But don't you work at Cash Converters?

If people are happy to pay money, why doesn't everyone give like $5 (maybe even less, depending on numbers) to someone relatively trusted to buy a domain, a few months' hosting and set up a forum. Whatever money's left over they can keep if they so wish. Money might prove the best motivation. I'd probably put in, and I've used the game exchange like twice ever (not counting all the passive browsing of it).

Not for any new threads though Benza, only to sort out transactions that were already in play when the changes were announced.
Unless someone can clarify for me? I have a sealed COD:Black OPS prestige to sell, but don't want to use ebay for the fees.

Whilst change is in the wind..can we look at moving newest purcases to the same forum as what you finished/playing? It might just be me, but apart from game exchange these are the 3 threads I check each day, and navigating to general PAL after general gaming is extra clicks I woud love to avoid _________________

Problem solved
bookmark this instead, it will show all threads since the last time you closed your browser after visiting PALGN. Every thread with recent activity on one page, no need to click on sub-forums. _________________

Nah. While most posts in Newest Purchases are game related, the thread is meant to be more general in nature. People post about all types of purchases. General PAL Talk is basically a place for all subjects/threads that don't fit into one of the other forums.

Sorry to hear you resign modding Sin, you were the most actively pursuing mod I've ever witnessed on any site (I mean that in a good way lol)
Also just as a brief mention, some people are updating their threads in the GE that were created before the cutoff date, but updating it with new things they are selling.
Also, I've noticed this for a year or two now, and never been bothered saying anything but when you go to add someone who is already on your buddy list, it says 'User is alread in your Buddy List'.
Now why was I adding people that were already on my buddy list?

I only came on here for the Game Exchange, if that goes then looks like I have no reason to stick around.
I thought that was the main reason people used this website.

Thanks for the much needed sarcasm.
I'll be using it when your forums are dead and your site traffic dies.

Spend substantial time on PSN text chat. The swear filter on that is insanely strict.Engine? nope censored. Pee? Nope censored. Can't think of more now but there is quite a lot of rediculously stupid things censored. _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.
