Not sure if this is the right forum to post it in, But I was just wondering about apple. Because my earphones have recently come apart. They are only held together by wires. I am interested in investing in a pair of good quality but cheap earphones. no more than about $40

I believe that the Apple headphones are not under the warranty if they came with the iPhone, but in order to enquire properly, you'll have to book a friggin "Genius Bar" appointment which is a pain in the ass. Those guys are trained like budgies, just repeating what the computer tells them.
Consider it for the better.

Nope. You can get infinitely better quality earphones for a hell of a lot less.
Having a look though, if it's within a year there is a chance that you can get them replaced, but don't expect Apple to make it easy.

I'm rubbish with earphones. I'm a headphones man through and through.
You'll have to ask the others, there was some talk on this ages ago so search for the thread. Otherwise, others here will give you the goods.
EDIT:
Apparently that old thread recommends Sennheiser CX300-II

I was about to say CX300-II's or Sennheiser MX560's are pretty cheap too.

There's a pair of TDK buds that they used to sell at JB Hi-Fi (not sure if they do anymore) for about $17. I threw away the cardboard sleeve, but the item code is EB-300BK. They fit snugly and the sound quality is a dream.

I got some Sennheiser ones from Jb recently, they were about $20. They were in no way awesome, but better than the standard Apple ones.
Sorry don't know the product code as they were stolen along with my iPod recently.

quite like the senny cx300. I use a pair of logitech ultimate ears with iphone compat mic that I got from work some time ago. You can easily pick up a good pair from logitechshop 4 cheap though. I think their EOFY sale still going.
