If you're talking anime then I would seriously ask you to consider shopping online. Most stalls I've seen charge unbelievably exhorborant prices for US dvd's... _________________

Went today with some friends. Was surprised at the amount of people that went :O Perth does have some surprises....
Some of the cosplayers were awesome, some which impressed me were Alan from the Hangover and some of the Halo ones. Didn't buy anything though, the lack of DVD stalls was a bit disappointing. Empire Toys is expensive and Madman had no sales ($25 each single DVD). There was a $5 clearance stall but they were all rubbish titles One stall had Penn & Teller: Bullsh*t seasons, Australian Region 4 copies which is awesome, except their eftpos machines were down.
So many comic book/dodgy merchandise stores. Oh and the lines for Tom Felton :O Overall it was a fun experience, but I don't want to pay $25 to spend more money every year. _________________

Perth Supanova is over for another year. It was pretty exhausting, then again doing back to back weekend convention (Sydney then Perth) is pretty tiring.
I met up with fatpizza, he isn't as fat or as a pizza like as I thought he would be, but then again I didn't really have any preconceived expectations - nice guy though - sorry to disappoint that I wasn't cosplaying as Alicia.
Met a small group of Monster Hunter players too, they were just starting out on 3rd Portable (gave them a hand hunting some of the bigger monsters), it's good to meet ppl with similar interest and they were just as passionate about the game.
The Okami plush was insanely popular, pretty much sold out before lunch time on the Saturday when doors opened - looks like I'll have to try and get more in (for Manifest in August).
Collected a fourth signature on my Dollhouse bluray, so that was cool. Now I have:
- Eliza Dushku
- Summer Glau
- Dichen Lachman
- Amy Acker
Next up, I guess my trip back to Japan next month (getting a little tired of the constant flying around but hey someone's gotta do it). _________________

This pretty much sums up my impression for this year. I've been to every Perth Supanova since it's inception and while it was still worthwhile, the actual experience is waning a tad, given that you're paying to get in and have access to a bunch of stuff that you could buy anywhere and anytime for the exact same prices. There wasn't really anyone "must-see" this year either from my perception, but I'd gather some will disagree with me there. I usually haunt the place for both days, but there wasn't enough going on to bother this time.
I personally hope the stalls are a little more competitive next year.
Plus side was that they opened up the western pavilion for the big stars specifically, which certainly made things a lot less cramped, but they really need to move the event elsewhere as Claremont showgrounds is such a hole. _________________

Where else could it go? The convention centre was too expensive, from what I recall, hence the move to the showgrounds. Besides, parking at Claremont is a lot easier than the city.

I felt so awkward after finding out the girl cosplaying as Alicia wasn't you. But now knowing you're actually a guy I wouldn't say I'm disappointed you weren't cosplaying as her. _________________

Move? Supanova started at and always was at Claremont Showgrounds.
Besides... Waicon, our only other convention which does run at the convention centre, is run by a smaller organization and doesn't hold massive movie and TV stars through it's conventions. I doubt money is a valid excuse... _________________

That's my fault. Anime Bargain Basement has some awesome stuff but its always a case of "first in, first serve".
Perth Supanova is always more enjoyable than Sydney Supanova.
Both were good weekends.

I met Ashley Wood and got him to sign my Peacewalker. He's pretty much your ordinary aussie bloke you'd see at the pub. _________________

Well that's really up to SMASH. We really do want to support SMASH but only once have they ever held a 2 day event (which we happily to attended).
For interstate conventions we only participate in 2 or more day events. There's a lot of prep work leading up to a convention and it's not really worth our while to attend one day only events.
So until SMASH changes their policy (and from talking with some of their committee members SMASH being more than 1 day, this is unlikely to change in the near future), we won't be attending SMASH. _________________

Yeah, that's fair enough.
What about Animania or Supanovember (Brisbane SN)? _________________

Wow, I only ever heard Brisbane Supanova being referred to as Brisnova or Brissy-nova.
I have a thing against SMASH, it feels lacking and has really poor management in my opinion. I went to the first one in Sydney yet the event I liked the most is cosplay masquerade and they screwed that one with a long delay (and they lack quality cosplayers). Not to mention they ran out of ALL drinks by lunch time so I had to left early due to dehydration.
Didn't know Brisnova is on November, was maybe going to go there to cosplay with my friend and I don't have a costume made yet, oh the stress!!!. Currently in a costume planning stage, we were thinking of doing Sailor Scouts. I hope it's true what they say about Brisbane having better cosplayers than Sydney people! _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

We have no plans to attend Animania, simply because Animania supports bootleg merchandise, even Madman has done the same of recent. Animania will always be viewed upon as the convention that sells and supports bootlegs.
The next convention we will be attending is Melbourne's Manifest which is happening in August.
Supanova Brisbane (November) we are considering, since Brisbane has been a pretty good market for us. It's more likely we will attend that but we haven't 100% locked it in, we'll make a decision when the time draws a little closer.
Supanova is expanding to 6 locations next year (Brisbance, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Sydney and Perth), so it's going to be pretty crazy and hectic. _________________
