Your favorite ringtones ?

I am not a mobile phone owner, but i am fascinated by the ring tones people have on their phones. The stock standard ones used to be Jaws, Mission Impossible, James Bond theme.... a lot of people still have them today in true tone / ripped mp3 form (i love how the tones evolved from the beeps, to REALISTIC sounds).

I remember playing around with my dad's old Nokia 3210 (i think that was the one with the composer ?) and with the aid of several internet sites, i keyed in tones like Superman, Robocop and several WWF/WWE wrestler themes (personal favorites being Stone Cold Steve Austin, D-X and Hulk Hogan's themes as tones

).

Over the last few years i've fiddled around with various audio programs, basically editing mp3s into small ringtones for family members and friends. Much better than paying some xyz company that sells a tone for an x amount of dollars.

A few of my personal favorites: As mentioned already - Superman, various WWF/WWE wrestler entrance themes, Indiana Jones, Back to the future, Predator.

I ripped Shane Crawford's "thats what im talking about" quip from the 2008 Grand Final and put that as the sms tone for various people.

I have put quips from movies and tv shows on phones for people, anything from The Dark Knight, to Craig Ferguson's hi jinx (who's that at the door ?), Geoff Peterson etc.

Just thought i would ask what your favorite ring tones are that you have used in the past or have heard in the general public ?

Dead Letter Circus - The Mile.

The reason being that it doesn't have a soft start, it's immediately loud and into it, so it's perfect as a free ringtone without piss farting around with cropping tracks or anything.

I remember having For Whom the Bell Tolls intro as my Nokia 2100 ringtone, keyed it in because I'd gotten the phone not long after learning how to play it.

i have the theme to The IT Crowd as my ringtone, pretty much for the reason Sin mentioned, it's immediately loud.

i quite like the idea of using Nine Inch Nails' Happiness in Slavery for the same reason too, plus it starts out with Trent Reznor shouting "Slave screams".

I had the Metal Gear Solid codec ringtone but it became a bit too much of a nerd/geek magnet but I liked it. Now though, the less nerd/geek magnet ringtone of Portal's "Turret Wife Serenade" which you can get it free from http://www.thinkwithportals.com/music.php . I feel like bobbing with this music!

I keep the sms as the default tone as it has a nice tone to it (the HTC Desire sms sound).

My general ringtone is the FF13 main theme 'Blinded by Light' lol. It is beyond nerd that people won't ever recognise it...

My personalised one for some friends is 'A Beautiful Mine' by RJD2.

I've had my phone for about two months now and I've still not properly configured all the tones. Ringtone I've set to a favorite song of mine, pretty standard practice I believe (Salt 5 - Get Up Rapper). My message tone on my old old phone used to be this Peep Show quote (bit rude), but funnily enough it got a bit too embarrassing diving for my phone every time it made a sound. Just got some kinda laser sound now.

The generic ringing noise. If I find a better noise, I'll use it.

I don't want any music as a ring tone because if I have to listen to the start of a song every time my phone rings that'd ruin the song for me pretty fast.

It used to be the TF2 rocket jump waltz. Game-related, classy and easy to hear. Then I got a new phone and I haven't bothered setting it up again, so default ring tone it is =P

Mine is mainly on silent, but now that I can I'll end up using an Iron Maiden or Foo Fighters song. Something that has a brilliant opening 10 seconds.

I have a small collection of songs I've edited into ringtones for my phone. I switch between them depending on what mood I'm in.

My current ringtone is Pulse by Yoko Kanno. Before that it was Still Alive by Lisa Mikovsky (aka the Mirror's Edge theme) and Nigeru Mono by Susumu Hirasawa (aka the Paprika theme).

I use Mutiny ~Sadness Bathes in Dust~ by Manabu Namiki as an alarm sound. It's the stage 3 music from Mushihimesama Futari. It's a great song to wake up to.

My ringtone is the Magnum P.I. theme song, cropped from Picco's Back to Hawaii (about 14 seconds in on that video).

My message tone is "Dynamite! Dynamite!" from Blaxploitation revival film Black Dynamite:

(1:14 is where my ringtone comes from)

Funnily enough, after all this effort, my phone is mostly on silent.

Navi from zelda saying 'HEY!' is my sms tone

and the 'uh oh' sound from ICQ program for my notification tone.

As for ringtone I use a snippet from Fugue by Yngwie Johann Malmsteen with the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra :B
