Since no one started this year, I might as well do.
Sorry I am at work and dedicating part of my lunch break starting this up, I will revamp this first page when I get home to leave the first post impression *wink*
For now, the apps I use often are...
- TripView Sydney Lite (is also an iPhone app), invaluable public transport commuting tool
- Alchemy - some random game I came across but got hooked on
- Google's My Tracks - to find out how long does my walk route take for lunch break purposes _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

Here are a few apps I find to be very useful;
- Dolphin Browser - The best mobile browser I've used to date, proper tabs, bookmark extension to help manage all of them, fast - FREE
- Hanscent SMS - Much better than the stock Samsung Galaxy S2 message manager. Also uses Emoji emoticons - FREE
- FlexT9 - Incredible keyboard with highly responsive swipe feature - FREE until September
- Google Sky Map - Awesome tool to point at stars and see which ones they are and or which constellation they are or belong to - FREE
I'll mention a few more after work! _________________

Makes me wish I had an Android instead of an iPhone.
I jailbroke mine for the customization but it's not the same. _________________

Was going to start this thread months ago, never got around to it. Thanks Tina!
OK so here's my latest awesome app:
Amazon Appstore
They have 1 paid app available for free each day, I got Peggle for free the other day when I set it up.
It's a US only app, so here are the directions to get you signed up with fake details:
http://abtevrythng.blogspot.com/2011/03/how-to-use-amazon-app-store-outside-us.html#axzz1HtVzxyUa
Note: Had some trouble using fakenamegenerator.com for the address, so go to whitepages.com and use one from there. And I used Astro File Manager to install the program (.APK file) after moving it to my SD card.

In terms of customizing, here are some apps that I've used:
- Easy Freezy (PRO Only)
- Filer (default app)
- OneClickRecovery
- Recovery Manager
- ROM Manager [PRO]
- Root Explorer (PRO Only)
- Superuser [PRO]
- Terminal Emulator
- VISIONary+
- z4root
Now using some of these can f**k up your s**t if not used properly.
And the rest from what I said above:
All the stuff I've listed without links is because they are not on the Market.
You've just got to find them on your own. _________________

You know what's better than all those pro-mode-feature-locked file explorers?
File Expert.
100% free file browser, works with root access if your phone is rooted, and implements Samba so you can browse your Windows shares. And those are only the features I use, there's a ton more I haven't found a use for yet. It claims to implement the same features and more as Astro, but minus the ads/paid version. _________________

Desire HD users wanna get their hands on SPB Shell 3D, I honestly think it blows Sense out the water. Much better desktop customization, plus additional configurable widgets. Dunno how it compares to the Galaxy's home firmware but I imagine it'd prolly look great on that too.
I'd also recommend ElectricSleep Beta, for any fellow bad-sleepers out there. Does a fantastic job of waking me up each morning without nary a headache nor furious anger. _________________

*edit* nevermind. kept plugging in addresses/fake cc until it worked. _________________

My main recommendations would be Handcent SMS, with scheduling being one of the main reasons for suggesting it, Swype, as it is MUCH more efficient for me than the default Samsung keyboard on my Galaxy 5, especially with the small screen, and Go Launcher EX. Found it runs better than any of the other alternative homescreen/launcher apps out there.
Also, I recommend, though it may have some lag if your phone is not rooted, WidgetLocker. Makes your lockscreen MUCH more useful. I also like PowerAmp out of any of the music players, though $5 for the full version is a bit steep, compared to competitors. Has an EQ though.

FedeMusic aka Ubermusic is a clone of windows 7 media player which is currently still in alpha but its already super slick. Have a look:

Not available on the market so you'll need to dl the apk and use something like astro to install it. Fixes tags and finds album/artist art for the background automatically. _________________

Oh man thanks for this one. Just yesterday I was wondering if there was any way I could get to my camera quicker on my Desire HD, bit annoying it doesn't have a physical button for it. Now I've camera and camcorder sliders on the lock screen. Perfect stuff. _________________

The Humble Bundle is back. No, I'm not in the wrong topic, this time it comes with the Android platform (binaries also included) as well as the PC/Mac/Linux copy!!!
Link - http://www.humblebundle.com/
What's in it?
- Anomaly
- Osmos
- EDGE
- (Meet the average)World of Goo!
- The warm fuzzy feeling that you supported charities and devs. _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

Dungeon Raid has finally made it to Android. It's a popular match x game on Apple platforms using rpg mechanics, with lots of unlockables, many character classes, etc.

Been changing Android phones for 5 times already and I always have Dolphin Browser in all of them, plus Angry Birds Space and all the native apps.
