Really? I find myself surprisingly excited for this game after watching the trailer for the nth time. The areas and enemies in particular really make me excited for what this game could potentially offer.

Yeah, it's really not selling the game to me much. Gameplay is the same as ever really, the new stuff seems a bit lame. Some kind of flying bug gadget? Tightrope battles? Generic looking boss? Motion Plus minigames? You'll have to do better, Nintendo.

The 'trailer' doesn't look like its designed to sell the game, though, it looks more to me like it was designed to sell the idea that Motionplus is going to work in a Zelda game ("hey look, you can totally use M+ to swing your sword in specific directions! and balance on this rope! how amazing!"). It seems pretty pointless, actually. Bring on a 'real' trailer at E3 or wherever.

I think M+ is going to be amazing, but they need to show more. They've already sold the idea of M+ through E3, where hands-on impressions were near unanimously positive despite their clunky stage demonstration. We already knew M+ was integral to Link's sword play, and would be used for other items, and puzzles. We'd seen it. We saw a little extra here, but mechanically it's the exact same thing.

As I've said elsewhere, Zelda isn't just about the sword play. There's still so much more; overworld (style and how it's traversed), dungeons, towns, quests, characters, shops, etc. Strangely Nintendo has been really quiet on these things. It's possible we've seen snippets of these, but they haven't really pushed them out and said "Hey, this is how this works", and instead pimping the M+ sword fighting almost exclusively.

Which I can understand. It's a big deal, and it's going to be awesome. But Zelda is more and I'd like to see more.

The crappy colours are supposedly because it was recorded off screen or some crap. It did look really muddy, which it shouldn't. The E3 stuff we got was far more vibrant, so I'm guessing it was a recording issue.

I see on the EBgames website, they're offering Zelda: Skyward sword limited edition.

http://www.ebgames.com.au/wii-154311-The-Legend-of-Zelda-Skyward-Sword-Limited-Edition-Nintendo-Wii

It doesn't say what it includes, but we could speculate, maybe a 25th anniversary CD that includes Zelda tracks? Miyamoto seemed pretty keen to talk about the music of Zelda during E3

I do not see why there is so much negative comments. Game looks amazing. I am looking forward to more action based gameplay and puzzles with the sword and motion plus. I LOVE the graphics and think it looks better than anything else on the wii and the style is one of the best on all systems. I am looking forward to this more than any other. The fact its chock full of gameplay and there is different things to do in each area sounds great.

They have changed the dungeon formula as well and are trying something different which is great. Flying looks awesome as well. I remember hearing all this kind of talk before wind waker and that is one of my favourite games ever. Just bought links awakening and will get OoT in preparation.

Also just bought life size zelda shield and sword so I guess im a bit biased icon_razz.gif

It's not the same statue that they have at EB, it looks like a lower quality Twilight Princess based one (note the logo on the front). The one at EB looks like this:

The painting looks dodgy, the pose looks half arsed, the shield is completely flat which is just weird.

I mean compare to some of the smaller link statues you can get like this It just looks poor.

Then again it might just be poor photos.

Also holy shit it's only 100 bucks? That's kind of crazy.

Check out the headshot on the Ebay page, it matches up with that photo perfectly. So do the stones he's standing on, the pose etc. I'd need a better photo of the other one to be sure but it sure looks the same.

Yeah 100 with over 6 days left... this will go for quite a bit I reckon... nerds/geeks got money yo...

Yeah don't compare it to some limited edition well-made expensive statue... this gets the point across just fine... of course it's not perfect but then again it's probably the highest resolution Link I've ever seen...

I'm sure it's the same as the one in EB just probably bad photo's. I'm gonna email the guy on Ebay and ask if he can take some photo's of his one and put them up.

Aonuma was interviewed by Famitsu, and spilled some more details on Skyward Sword. 1up has the scoop. Here's the bits.

- In this game, Zelda starts out as a childhood friend of Link's -- and not royalty. "She's not a princess this time," Aonuma said, "which is something I'll pretty much have to put forth right now in order to talk about this title. She's a childhood friend, but she goes away in the midst of the game and it's Link's job to search for her."

- The starting plot unfolds quite a bit differently from other Zeldas. "This game's plot is something like a school drama, you could say," Aonuma noted with a laugh. "The flying sequence at the E3 demo is Link competing against his classmates. One of them looks kind of a like a bad guy, as you saw, and he shows up in other ways in the game too, since he has a major thing for Zelda."

- Despite this, though, the game progresses in a somewhat similar fashion to a previous Zelda title. "The game starts in Skyloft, this city that's floating in the air, and you'll come back to this town multiple times," Aonuma said. "Things are always proceeding along in town, and in that respect it's very much like Majora's Mask. Like with Majora, there are a lot of game events involving the townspeople that get intertwined with the main story. Link, Zelda and their other friends all go to the same boarding school, and you've got teachers and a principal as well. It's a bit of a different setting from previous Zeldas."

- Aonuma's team is making a deliberate effort to give Link new items -- like the boomerang-beetle in the E3 demo -- early on in Skyward Sword. "With previous Zeldas," he said, "the common pattern was that the really neat items wouldn't show up until later on in the game. You need to have the basic item set or it wouldn't be Zelda, so the new items tended to get shunted to the latter part of the game. [Shigeru] Miyamoto said that had to change, like 'This is neat, let's bring it out from the start.' So a lot of neat new items will show up pretty early on."

- Is Skyloft the entire 'world' in this game? "Yes, it's only the people in Skyloft," Aonuma responded. "Nobody on there thinks anything of it, though, because living in Skyloft and flying around on birds is normal to them. They don't have any awareness of there being a mainland beneath the clouds and so forth -- that gets expanded upon once Zelda goes missing, and you get access to the areas under the clouds."

- Does everyone in Skyloft have their own personal avian transport? "It's the custom for each person to have one bird. Link has a red one, and it's actually a special and very rare breed of bird -- which is something that makes him get picked on, like 'Why do you get this fancy bird and we don't?!' But it turns out that you need that red bird in order to access the mainland. So the hand of fate gets involved here, like it always does in Zelda games sooner or later."

- Ghiraham, the enemy Link fought in the E3 demo's boss battle, is definitely going to be an important character in Skyward Sword. "The demo shows when you first meet him, and plainly he's looking down at Link, stopping his sword with his fingers and so forth," Aonuma noted. "In terms of story image he's kind of like Dark Link [from Ocarina of Time]; he sees right through Link's moves in battle. You can sort of swing your sword wildly and still hold your own against a lot of foes, but there's no way you can beat Ghiraham like that. You need to keep your distance and watch his moves, and it's something you'll need to change your strategy for. I think he's a pretty good change of pace as bosses go, and he'll change gradually throughout the game."

- Will Ganon show up? "This game talks about the birth of the Master Sword, and it touches on why Ganondorf showed up. If you play it, I think you'll get some understanding on that. It connects to Ocarina, so if you play Ocarina of Time 3D and move on to this game, I think you'll catch on to a lot of things."

- How's development going along? "The whole game is complete, and we're fine-tuning the balance right now. We were going to have it wholly done by around E3, but there's so much volume to it, neither I nor Miyamoto have gotten to fully play out every aspect. The non-English localizations are proceeding along now, and we're trying to make this a simultaneous worldwide release. You have to put Zelda all out at once or else the story's going to get spoiled -- although, really, there's a ton to enjoy here even if you know a little about the story beforehand."

I cant fucking wait.

Interesting, a prequel to OoT.

Colour me interested.

Although I'm still finding the art style to be a little underwhelming. I'd love it if they'd be able to texture it so it had those wonderful brush strokes and ink splatters like the concept art they displayed last year but meh.

It's Zelda. I'm going to get it regardless.

Im not surprised its a prequel as in Twilight Princess they said the Hylians were originally from the clouds, and this game starts in the clouds! Lolz.

The ""This game talks about the birth of the Master Sword, and it touches on why Ganondorf showed up. If you play it, I think you'll get some understanding on that" sentence just convinced me to bother with this game, because Zelda fan though I am I've just about given up after the much underwhelming TP...
