Im thinking, from the perspective of marketing, DICE/EA should have stuck to showing a new level and new maps for demoing the console stuff. Obviously the game would still look worse, but the first PS3 footage was exactly the same as the PC reveal, and that tends to draw really distinct comparisons.
Still, its fucking stupid that people are unhappy the PS3 footage *shock horror* doesn't look as good as the game on a cutting edge PC. Worse that people expected it to run in 1080p, you know, like that 0.5% of console games that do too. _________________

He also had that to say. It's sad that everyone expects console games to look close to the PC version, but it also shows how much developers don't care about the PC version :\

Yeah, a lot of people are for some reason expecting this game to look just as fantastic on console as it does on PC. News flash: the hardware is way too old to be running this anywhere near the level of PC. It's a silly assumption.
It looks good for what it's doing on console honestly. The scale and intensity they're going for would not be an easy feat to move onto the console front.

People expect identical looks because most developers just aren't focusing on giving PC the enhancements it can pull, so half the ports look identical (and run poorly) in the end. It's horrible. _________________

I hope all this hate for the console versions being below the PC par doesnt translates into poor sales and DICE returning to consoles being the lead platform for BF4.
What console owners have to realise that it would be exactly the same look on the consoles even if the console was the lead platform, it would just hurt those who will get it on PC.
Its not just the looks though, its also the 64 players AND the dedicated servers that makes the PC version soo enticing to me. This is what kept me away from the Bad Company series. _________________ Games for Sale

honestly that console footage looks like one of the prettiest shooters on a console I've seen.
(Also lol at the people using steam as a pro for PC's when it's obviously a con) _________________

Yeah man, I hate steam. I mean sure it helps me manage all my games, log in from any of my computers to install and play without the need for discs, lets me keep in contact with friends, keeps all my games up to date and frequently lets me purchase heavily discounted games on sale, BUT it uses up 27mb of my 6GB of RAM, and that is NOT OKAY. _________________

No, it's not okay. Make it 26MB and I'll call it acceptable.

That's only what Task Manager tells you. There's lots of hidden RAM usage in Steam.
I've also long been of the opinion that they really need to separate the service from the UI for a long time (imagine launching a Steam game without having to load the Steam UI, or even your shortcuts loading the Steam UI first).
But apart from that, can't say I have any other issues with Steam. It's certainly proving that traditional PC gaming isn't as dead as the media would make it out to be. _________________

The best thing Steam ever did was unify PC gaming with a console-like platform to buy and launch games. _________________

I'd hardly call it unified. I need 4 accounts with 4 separate companies to play two games.... (Steam, Games for Windows Live, Bioware, EA. For Dragon Age and Dawn of War 2) Hell Dragon Age 2 installed a separate EA launcher on my PC on top of Steam.
Fuck I'm not even playing them online. _________________

I'm not blaming steam for it, but they sure as shit don't deserve credit for something they haven't done either.
