Don't worry too much there moonhead. From what I read it seems the combat will have that flair but the overall game still seems to be focused on the story telling origins, also Gears doesn't allow any of the customisation we've heard off.
I know I'm an optimist here but I don't see this turning into just some other cover based shooter, in fact it looks to enhance both genres by blending them together.
Lets just wait and see
