Eric mind link with his progeny PAM is what saved him.
She beat down/killed ruben, then saved Eric
hence the whole "you better appreciate what I did for you, this concrete is going to be hard to get outta my hair" dialogue _________________

This is definitely what it felt like and that didn't sit well with me. Seems like a hell of an ask to expect fans of an established series to sit through an entire season's worth of set-up, especially when seasons 1 and 2 were perfectly well contained on their own.
Not having that strong central storyline really hurt my impression of the overall season. Season 3 didn't have it's Rene or Maryann. Russel almost filled that position but there was far too much emphasis on the peripheral stuff which diluted his presence and ultimately caused the entire season to feel a little too thinly spread.
If those secondary arcs had been decent, I probably wouldn't have cared, but they really weren't at all up to the quality of the B/C/D/etc stories from the past two seasons. The only arc I really gave a shit about was Eric's but that sort of fell to pieces around second last episode. Almost every other story shat themselves around the same time too (the less said about Sam and Jason's, the better. King of the Hill-Billies, really??)
The exception to all this is Lafayette's storyline which like I mentioned, was the only one that kept my interest all throughout the season, and paid off with just the right level of 'I wonder what all that's about?'.
And what the heck happened with the the werewolves? For such a significant race in supernatural lore, they were incredibly under utilized. They just sort of disappeared into the nothing somewhere around the middle of the season. What a let down.
Yeah, this season was a mess. The writers seemed to have bitten off more than they could handle and couldn't quite work out how to keep it all together. What we ended up with was an incredibly disjointed and schizophrenic season that didn't really seem to know which story it wanted to tell. And when it did finally get around to telling it, it wasn't a very good one.
Let's see if they can rope it all together for season 4. I won't be holding my breath... _________________

actually, the werewolf stuff, to it's conclusion in the books, could quite easily have filled out the second half of this season, much more convincingly than the second half we got, and if they had then kept Russell for another season, it could've ended up a much stronger season.
i'd actually forgotten about the werewolves, which is cause for some concern about next season, since if they continue to only use 1 book as the basis of each season, we may end up with another floaty season.... =/
ideally, they should be using 2 books per season, as really, the books aren't exactly deep. however, while they are heading into one book's story quite strongly, the seeds have been sewn for another too, so hopefully they take this "advice" onboard, and run with it.
there's no real reason to think they won't - it's funny you mention Maryann in that S3 didn't have it's version, because in the books, she's completely trivial, the villain of that book, is the Fellowship of the Sun, and it's pastor, I don't think she even had a name in the books, and everyone knew what she was immediately, and was killed without a thought. _________________

Questions for those who have seen the final.
| >>>SPOILERS<<< wrote: | | Do you think the king will be back cause i really hope he does. He is like my favorite character in this season period. Also maybe the person who created the king will come to his rescue cause he would of sensed the king in trouble. I am just thinking out loud here cause nothing has been said on who created the king.... |

So what did everyone think of the first episode??? I thought it was all right bit slow to start but i know true blood is a slower burner and it will get really good soon. Also just so people know episode 2 has been leaked . _________________

Watched it last night. I've got to be honest... I loved it.
The time skip thing made everything that was boring about last season interesting again. I'm not sure how I feel about Tara, athough her new story is already feeling like an improvement (plus her GF looks great naked). I'm still finding LaFayette's story to be the most intriguing but I've yet to be sold on Jason running the hill-billy camp.
Didn't think I'd say this again, but I'm looking forward to episode 2. _________________

*not sure if this can be classified as a spoiler but read if you have seen Season 4 episode 1*
Well since you say it that way i kind of agree. Also am i the only one who thinks they will use the time skip again for that babies sake because the "evil" thing. They seem to be focusing on the baby and being evil i hope that becomes a main story. _________________
