Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon

many of you may have missed the gem that was EDF:2017 a few years ago, pretty sure it was a limited release in pal territories, or may not have been released at all in aus.

For those who did, let me fill you in: the basic premise is that giant alien bugs have invaded earth - think starship troopers - and it is your mission to stop them.

The game wasn't pretty by any means, and as such, didn't score all that well in reception. what the game lacked in graphics however, was made up for in some of the most pure, balls to the wall mindless co-op action fun, and i firmly believe it is one of the most under rated games of this generation. It seems the sequel will follow suit, and went under the radar at e3 this year.

features returning from EDF:2017 include
- local and online co-op
- the addicitive weapon drop loot system with 300+ different weapons
- ability to pilot tanks and mechas

new features of Insect Armageddon include:
- 6 player co-op survival mode - defend against wave after wave of enemies
- 4 different armor sets/classes to play as
- greatly improved graphics
- handling of vehicles has been improved and this time multiple players can get in and control them

Any other EDF fans on PALGN or am I the only one? Insect Armageddon comes out July 5th this year, only just around the corner, I know I'll be buying this day one.

EDF was amazing, I had SO much fun in co-op, me and my friend would come up with so many different tactics to beat levels (placing huge rows of mines, sitting back with a powerful machine gun and waiting was a lot of fun). Will definitely have to get this, and judging by the trailer it hasn't been changed to be more "mainstream", which is great.

I've heard great things about the first but never been able to find a copy to pick up. Will have to keep a sharp eye out for this one.

I like how they have kept the cartoony graphics. I think if this game took itself too seriously it would suck. Gonna be good.

EDF was the first 360 game I ever had. So yes I am a fan. I've never played the PS2 entries but was happy enough with the 360 one. I wasn't sold until the first beach mission and the Giant 4 legged walker comes from the sea and started to spew out flying drones and when it finally reached the shore, it started dropping more flying drones and those giant robots.

Then I was totally sold by the time I had to fight it again going through a city.

Co-op is incredible fun so was over the moon that there will be 6 player co-op online. Splitscreen was not the best for this game but still worked.

I'm a bit concerned that it's not going to be made by the same team but I'm hopeful that they will stay true to the spirit of EDF and go balls out.

This is one of my most wanted Xbox 360 games this year. I have the first game and I've put many hours into it and still haven't finished off Hard and Inferno difficulty. I can't wait to be able to play this new one co-op online

Well i have been playing this, took me a little bit to get into it, but man this is such a fun game....

The madness that was produced by a level yesterday was one of the most insane gaming battles i have had. Was fighting off a giant mechanized praying mantis, a giant spider that shoots ticks out of it all with two drop ships flying over head dropping ants and spiders on my head....it was absolute madness.
It is just pure fun this game and bringing down their drop ships is extremely satisfying, as they crash into the ground and take out buildings as they slide down the road until they stop and make with the big bang.
Feels good man. Very enjoyable.

yeah works fine, played with theory last night, this was on projector though, but it didn't seem to have any slow downs or anything like that even when it gets full of ants in your pants.
But yeah we had no problems with it.
