I've been talking to ?oe ?oe over a few PM's regarding the ghost that he had living in his house and found it really interesting.

I myself am skeptical, but coming from a science background, I know not everything can be properly explained and a lot of the stuff we know now could potentially be wrong (like how there is a chance that electrons are in fact positive). Because of this, I would love to experience one of these hauntings myself and like hearing about other people experiences.

So does anyone have any real (ie not made up because mummy doesn't love you and are trying to get attention) stories that can be shared? And please don't start a whole "Ghosts aren't real" speech (because Daddy didn't give you the attention you deserved so you spend the rest of your life flaming and trolling things because you feel the need to prove how much of a man you are, not because you should...)

I know it is only a matter of time before we start getting people crying foul and trying to be funny, so can we keep this as serious as possible?

Here are some from ?oe ?oe to get it started.

?oe?oe wrote:
Sometimes, I just want to sleep. But I knew before I moved into my sister's place that some nights were going to be a little extra-ordinary. You see, my sister has a ghost. He is attached to her. He is fairly harmless, he just likes to breathe heavily in your ear from time-to-time, turn on some lights and torment the cats. He has touched my sister before as she heard him run around into her room. When my brother was staying at hers for a bit, the ghost would open his door, breathe loudly and even lock him out of the house.

The ghost was dormant after my sister came back from holidays and she never heard from him in a long while. It wasn't until 3 weeks after I moved in, that she started to hear him breathe again and walk past her door sighing. But, it wasn't until a week later when the ghost gave me a formal introduction...

I was heading to bed around 11:30pm, half an hour after my sister, and as soon as I entered my room, I just felt this uneasy presence. My cat zips straight into my room, onto my bedside drawers and sits still upright completely focused on the blinds. I turn the lights off I try to go to sleep. The blinds then started violently slamming against the window at a very consistent and unnatural pace, that a simple light breeze does not do. I look at it, it stops. I try to sleep; it goes again, and again. I get up and close the window, and notice my cat is still fixated towards me at the blinds. I fall asleep.

I wake up from an unrelated dream at 4:05am (the hour in which the ghost is the most active). Suddenly, a light goes on from my sister's room. It stays on for about 3 minutes then turns off again. At around 4:15, my sister wakes up, turns her light on and goes to the loungeroom, because she heard the blinds for the balcony banging, but the door was closed. And I never heard the loud banging.

She gets back to her room turns her light off and gets into bed. The ghost starts to breathe heavily towards her. She can hear it, and I could hear it coming from her room too.

At around 4:35, I could still hear the breathing, but the breathing changed, the "hee hoo" kind of breathing slowly turned into an ambient laugh that echoed and moved around towards me. I admit now I was a bit freaked out. Then it was quiet. The cat meows and then the ghost was running around the house, the sounds of his footsteps can easily be heard, tapping the table, touching the front door's knob, etc.

In the morning, my sister and I were talking about what had unfolded. She never heard the loud banging in my room, and she was still awake when I went to bed and I never heard the loud banging she heard. She only turned the lights on once, she wasn't awake when it went on the first time.

We were talking to our upstairs neighbours about it, and they say they heard him running up the stairs and touching their front door handle at around 4:45. The ghost must know that they are friends with us. No one else in the building has anything like this.

I do get sleep, but some nights, he is in the corner of my room watching me, breathing. You know when he is around. The cat knows as well.

As a skeptic, I could easily attribute the breathing to something else, but that is just weird. I really hope the Ghostbuster fixes things, whether the ghost is in your imagination or not.

But that's the thing, it's not just me. The main kind of breathing is just an inhale, from the back roof of the mouth vibrating. A similar sound to snoring. My sister and I can hear it at the same time.

I know I sound like I'm just trying to defend myself, but we'll see at the end of the week. The ghostbuster said don't tell her details, she will find out when she gets here by herself.

But I'm just a guy from teh internetz, right?

No offense JoeJoe, but I'm very skeptical. Every instance you've described is at night around bed time when your brain is most likely to play tricks on you, and I see no reason to believe it's anything else. Do you have any evidence at all?

I understand you're skeptical and sure some instances may be mind tricks, but there is obviously something here. He has played up during the day. I'm not sure if your saw my first post about this, but this has been happening to many people. We've had people stay over not knowing about it. And the next morning, they said they heard breathing in the corner of the room.

The ghost has been with my sister for a year and a half, and has made physical contact with her and my brother. And if he is close to you, you can feel the breathing. The fact that the cats are very aware of the ghost, staring at it when it is present, shows there is something.

Lights turning on and TV going on and off, seeing doors/cupboards open and closing with no breeze at all, taps spraying... it's too much to be coincidental. It's only the last month since it's became more active. But he isn't active every night (to my knowledge).

I'll try to get record of the breathing, since it's the most common thing.

?oe?oe wrote:
Well I left out the part where I yelled out "F### off!", but that was only one time. That's because it was deliberately taunting me. I showed some weakness, I guess.

I'll be sure to come back next week with part 3. No doubt this week will be interesting...

?oe?oe wrote:
Things are getting intense. The closer to the day the ghostbuster comes, the more active the ghost is. She warned us when we make the appointment, the ghost would get upset, and it is preeeeeeetty obvious.

During the day around midday, I was walking down the hall and I heard ruffling in the hallway cupboard, I looked in and of course nothing was in there. It wasn't until my sister came home from work when she told me she heard the ghost the night before opening that door wide open and closing it multiple times, as well as opening and closing some kitchen cupboards...

Since the ghost is attached to my sister, it has been known to be with her outside of the house. But it was the first time that it was clearly obvious he was there. She was getting a spa treatment and she was left in the room alone. The door opened and the ghost went around the table she was on, shook it a bit and then left the room...

Last night I went to bed at around 1:30am and as soon as I turned the light off and went in the bed, he started to breathe heavily. It wasn't long after that, when the bathroom taps blasted on. They were on for 5 seconds, then turned off, then again, it blasts on and off again. I get up and head towards the bathroom and then it stops. I tell it to leave us alone and head back to my room. I then hear it leave the bathroom and clear it's throat. Then it casually walked around the house and then back to my door. Then the breathing started again...

Now Wednesday night was an event to say the least. The ghost has spoken to my sister once before, after she told he to go away multiple times one night and he replied with an "Okaaaay". But, it is clear he doesn't like me.

I went to bed with him breathing in the corner as per usual, but not as loud as he usually is. I fall asleep. I wake up three times during the night, all three times I have sleep paralysis; couldn't move anything, not a muscle on my face. On the third time, I wake up and mumble something like "let me go", and the ghost replies with "only if you scream loud enough". Now if that wasn't enough, with the little opening in the mouth, I start screaming. Only thing is... I wasn't controlling my scream. It was done involuntarily. It wasn't that loud as I couldn't move anything. The whole time I was screaming, I was thinking 'What. The. F'.

I am now relieved of the paralysis and then I move to the left side of my bed. The ghost is now breathing on the right side of my bed where I was at. I tell it to go away and let me sleep. It stopped for a while then started again. I turned around and faced the right hand side while I tried to get to sleep. It then stopped...

My sister isn't getting harassed this last week, but she is feeling extremely drained, and conks out into deep sleep. My sister said she wouldn't be able to handle what happened if it happened to her, she would have ran straight to my room.

The ghostbuster is coming in on Friday, and it is going to be interesting how it unfolds. Even though it is frustrating, I am very fascinated by all of this, scary and creepy it may be.

?oe?oe wrote:
The conclusion to my haunting. You can read Part 1 and Part 2 before going ahead if you wish.

The final week before the ghostbuster arrived was a change of pace. The ghost got a lot more quieter. It was like he was hoping we'd think he disappeared or was behaving well.

My sister's friend, who is a hypnotherapist, came and slept over one night, on the sole purpose of meditating in my sister's room. It was around 3am when the breathing started again, so he got a chair and sat in the left hand corner of the room (where it breathes the most (it's the right corner for me over the wall)) and he started to go into deep meditation. He said could hear the sickly breathing coming from my room. He also heard him walk past the room a few times, but the ghost never entered my sister's room with him in it. He was asking if the ghost would leave etc. After a while, he felt a tingling chill go down from his head. This went on for 2 minutes, then the air was silent... In the morning, he said the ghost is gone, but my sister and I still felt he was around.

Two days later, I was on my own, during late afternoon, and my door handle started to shake and rattle furiously. That same day, I was in lounge room at 8:30pm and the tall lamp on the other side of the room that I had on, started to dim and flicker. Nothing strange, it happens to everyone, but 5 minutes later, I heard two deep breathes come from there and my cat immediately runs outside on the balcony. 10 minutes later, a strange, metallic, whiny sound was coming from outside, I walk outside and the sound was coming from outside my sister's room. I walk back in and my cat is still outside sitting upright meowing at the wall where the sound was coming from.

I only heard him breathing in my room one time this week, and it wasn't as loud as it usually is. This week, I started to feel extremely drained just like my sister has been, for no reason at all, so we were both conking out.

I did try and get recording of the breathing most nights this week, and even though he wasn't as loud, I did get him on tape one time, but the quality is low and you have to put the volume right up. It is a bit hard to hear, but there is definitely two breathing at one time. As you hear me inhale, it inhales shortly after.

I didn't have a video camera with night vision, so I had to make due with my camera and my phone. My camera can only record 90 minutes and my phone could only do 60 minutes. What's strange though is, no matter if I used my camera or my phone, the majority of my recordings stopped at 29:50. There's no sleep function for either. I did hear something slide off my shelve and hit the floor in one of the recordings, but nothing was on the floor...

So finally, the ghosterbuster came, she knew nothing of the events in the house, other-then that it was haunted. She picked up on the breathing, she even picked up on what kind of breathing it was. She said it was a man who had a lot of chemicals in him and that made him breathe like he did.

I'm usually not very serious about the 'mumbo jumbo' kind of healing, but she's travelled across Australia with her job. Our bedrooms were the main forces here, especially my sister's, and so she she did her thing and got rid of the ghost. She sat us down and cleansed/healed us. I admit, I did feel a little light headed when she was doing this to me; she does a lot of hand movements and humming. Then she did the whole house.

Now when I enter my own or my sister's room, the air isn't as dense, or heavy, or stuffy. I can't explain how lighter the air feels now. There was always a different feeling when you enter the rooms, but now there is nothing blocking it. You got to be here to understand just how different it feels, and I'm not just saying it for the sake of it.

And that's it... an anticlimactic end to the story. No blood on the walls, no ghostly showdowns, no demons, just a lost man.

?oe?oe wrote:
Ha, well it's funny you asked. I actually got a few more stories.

Truth be told, there was always more then one ghost at our place, I didn't want others to think it was too unbelievable (the different breathing were different ghosts). Apparently it's common for more than one to be around. But as I said before, we got rid of the "main" ghost (the one with the struggling breath) and we couldn't feel his dense energy around the house anymore.

3 weeks later after no sign of any activity, I wake up at 3am and I could hear breathing in the corner of the room as per usual. My back was towards it. Suddenly I feel it jump onto my bed, and this time it actually pinned me down and I was struggling to kick it off. I couldn't really move my head, but I felt this uneasy presence and see a shadowy figure going over me. It eventually subsided and his breathing was back to the corner.

Minutes later I hear my sister as she shuffles and turns on her bed, clearing her throat as well. I didn't know if she was awake and could hear him.

Next morning I get up and my sister is not home. Turns out she left for her boyfriend at around 1:30am, she heard the breathing as well, but chose to ignore it. So it wasn't her on her bed... That was the last we had anything at our place.

But this isn't the last of my story. I'm doing a play and we go rehearse in the theatre. We were in the 'movement room', sitting around the table about to start going over our lines. It was a dark and cold morning that day, so the lights were on. 5 of us are sitting around the table about to start, and one of the light starts to flicker... a fitness ball underneath starts to bounce, it bounces a few times, rolls out and then rolls back in. We were sitting there amazed (I've had worse haha). Turns out the block is supposed to be haunted. We told someone in our group (not in the room) about it and she said a month or so before she saw a blonde girl sitting in that room in the reflection of the window.

And the last story, I was walking to the gym. I was about to cross the road, so I look back to check for cars. I see a guy walking towards me. I thought nothing of it and crossed the road. I hear him crossing the road too. I'm walking down the path and hear him coming closer with footsteps on the grass, so I move to the right a little to give him room to get past, but as I look back... no one is there.

Pretty creepy things, aye. Turns out the chick who saw the blonde girl has been having these strange events her whole life.

?oe?oe wrote:
I'm not religious or superstitious.

Everything I have said is true. I went through fear and tears some nights (they feed on that). I do get people whom when I tell the stories I detail, don't take it seriously and that's just part of it, but I know what I've gone through.

I've got another story of when my sister was young she was sitting on her bed and a "gremlin" (her words) peered from underneath and started to struggle her. She cried out to my dad who came running in to see her in a struggle and freed her. She actually had red strangle marks on her neck. My dad doesn't talk about that day, but my sis still remembers it.

My eldest brother said he saw a "headless" ghost out front of our house which ran behind the side of the house when he saw him.

I've been told that my parent's house was haunted. My uncle and auntie stayed over alone one night, and they heard loud footsteps coming up the stairs and up to their door. No one else was home. The home was blessed by a priest later.

My friend's old place, he said he heard kids playing with marbles down the hall every so often. And he has a picture of him near the hall with an unexplained blur/smudge over the hallway.

My old roommate's dad was telling a story about her elderly mother. He walked passed the lounge and gave her a strange look. He walks past. He comes back and looks at her strangely again and walks off. Later that day He asked her who were the two guys in suits. Nobody was in the room but her. She passed away the next week. But he read up about it and he found out that they were "angels" basically telling him, she will be safe.

That's just some of the other stories I've been told, there's more if I can remember.

I'm way to busy to read them at the moment. But my old house I swear was haunted by those Shadowpeople that Adam described.

I remember this perfectly.

My parents tell me they used to come into room when I was screaming, and I was sitting up in bed eyes wide open screaming and some invisible character.

The day I moved out was the day I stopped having those dreams.

There was a similar thread not too long ago. I havent had any experiences myself except ones my parents have told me. They thought our first house (which I only vaguely remember) used to be haunted. This is a house in Oxfordshire.

They said when I was a baby we once came home from somewhere (I think it might have been a wedding) and I was asleep and they carried me to my crib/cot, as they walked into the room the crib/cot began shaking, violently back and forth as though someone was standing there rocking it. It went on for a minute and then stopped.

They also told me they used to hear voices clearly speaking through the walls while having a bath or in a bathroom in general. Of course this is in the UK where most homes are around 100 years old and they tend to make some weird noises, but my mum said they were too clear to put down to the normal creaking and clanging.

Anyway I don't believe in Ghosts, I think its nonsense, and I think if they existed we would have some proof by now. :] I always like reading peoples stories anyway though.

Is that fixed ?oe ?oe?

And Pixie, there was something similar but it wasn't specific like this, it was more about scary experiences in general.

I've had a variety of experiences at my old property, most of which I have written about here at one point of time.

Individually they don't really mean much, but collectively they could be considered slightly more credible.

When I was younger, I have heard a piercing scream as if it was right next to me. There has been strange smells in certain rooms, tobacco/smoke specifically was one one of the smells. Lights switch on in the middle of the night. I've had cat(s) meowing and following nothing around the house. My dog has growled at nothing on occasion as well.

My worst experience (in the same property), which was by far worse than any of those mentioned above collectively is something I'm not sure I wish to share to be honest. It was a set of incidents over an isolated period of time. I had to do a serious sanity check, which is why I'm hesitant to really go into details.

My mother had played with a Ouija board in the past and got in quite a bit of trouble - poltergeist activity and what not, which appeared to go away after a period of time.

A funny thing a few years ago - I had been reading up on some hauntings, etc on the internet one evening and went to bed, about 15 to 20 minutes after trying to go sleep I heard, I hear this awful loud sound, which sounded like a shelf with stuff on it falling onto the ground. My heart was thumping so much. In the morning, I found out a taxi had reversed into a tin gutter at the front of my property...

I'm skeptical but love reading these stories.

I've had two experienced.

One of them is during a time I don't recall but my parents always tend to bring it up. We were just driving back from my grandparent's funeral when I started bursting into these huge laughing fits. My parents amused what was going on back then. I told them poppa won't stop tickling me. Now I don't know if I was just a really good troll at the age of two or what happened but my parents remember it as right as rain.

The second was when I was seven. At the time my dad was working at Thailand so I lived with just mum and my 3 year old brother. Anyways at 2am one morning they were fast asleep as I was up watching old cartoon tapes and playing Nintendo when suddenly the air became thick and I felt a presence beneath me under my bed.

Hesitantly, I decided to give it a knock...you know the dun-dududundun when from underneath the bed I heard a loud dun dun...

Let's just say I burrowed into my parents bed as fast as I could.

Ever since I was a baby I've been really really scared of this picture that my mother owns. I managed to take a picture of it to show you guys. But yeah I've always had a really bad vibe from it. I could never be in the same room as it by myself and I still have trouble looking at it. But once when I was about 5 I remember I fell asleep in the lounge and awoke to that really creepy woman with the cat screaming at me. She was trying to drag me back into picture frame with her.

Another time when I was a child I woke up in the middle of the night and thought I saw a witch in my room. I always seem to see crazy stuff and still do sometimes so I've just learnt to ignore it and go back to sleep. But back then I used to tell my mother about it. Anyway, the next morning I woke up and told her I saw a witch in my room. My mum told me I was probably just having a bad dream but she noticed that all the medicine was missing from the medicine cabinet. The next week my mum saw in the Progress Leader a picture describing a drug addicted burglar matching description I gave to her of the witch I saw in my room... I think it's fair to say I saw the creepy witch/burglar/drug addict man in my room

While I'm here though, how do you pronounce ?oe?oe?

I've just been imagining the little sound sonic used to make in sonic 2 when he was under water and gets a breath of air from a bubble. Will that do?

I'm that awesome person who'd come into this thread "MYTH BUSTED" all your ghost nonsense, but I'll be nice and let it pass...for now. Instead, I will share the story my Mum has shared with me. I posted it in the last thread we had on this, but I figure it's worth posting again.

The only grandparent I've ever really known (and still know) is my grandmother on my mum's side. My grandfather on that side died before I was born, and my grandparents on my Dad's side I never really knew. That grandma died shortly after I was born (I think?), while the grandfather died while I was still very young. I have one vague memory of visiting him in the hospital, but I dont think I ever knew him.

Anywho.

My father comes from a big family (as does my mother). Quite poor, lots of kids, all surviving under one roof. That house had stuck with my Dad's side for a long time, with one of my uncles currently the resident. He owns the place. I've only been there a few times, but that's besides the point.

Once upon a time many years back, one of my aunties had a friend visit from interstate. They were going to the park for a BBQ or going to the shops or whatever, but my aunty wanted to go and pick something up from the place mentioned above first. My uncle apparently wasnt home at the time.

So they go into the place, my aunty tells her friend to just wait in the lounge room, and my aunty goes to quickly find whatever it is she was looking for. She finds it, comes back, they scurry off to the car and leave.

My aunty's friend then gets all "So why didn't you introduce me?". Nobody was in the house, and my aunty was just wondering "What the hell are you talking about?". The friend keeps saying "No, there was someone there". The friend states that there was an older woman sitting in the chair in the lounge room, and she wondered who she was and why she wasn't introduced. My aunty has no idea what she is talking about, so they go on their merry way.

Later on, my aunty is showing her friend family albums. You know how it is; old friends catch up, nostalgia kicks in, and they reminisce on the past captured by photography. They get to an old family shot taken in the same lounge room as mentioned, same chair the friend said a woman was sitting in. In the photo, a woman, with the friend saying to my aunty "That's her! That's exactly her! That is the woman who was in the chair!".

I'm sure you can guess who it was in the photo.

This subject, not unlike religion, falls into the 'impossible to believe, unless personally experienced' category for me.

It's almost midnight, so call me a wimp, but I ain't reading the contents of this thread until tomorrow morning. Gave a quick look at Shadow Wave's thread and was quickly reminded of the experiences I had as a child... damn it... the dog sleeps in my room tonight!

I had a ghost problem a few times.. I lived in the place where many people committed suicide (Gap park over at Vaucluse/Watsons Bay in Sydney). One night, my friend was sleeping over and we got up in the middle of the night to get a glass of water and as we were walking, we both froze in our place for some reason, then things got really cold and we heard footsteps then this tall hooded figure came and the face was really scary stretched out white thing... I was scared out of my mind. Despite having a broken foot and my foot being in a cast, I ran away to get away from it. The next day I was at a book shop looking for things to do with ghosts/spirits/poltergeists and in it I came across something so similar to what I saw.

Still gives me chills all the way down my spine :/ I hated it. I always felt the presence. Some nights, I'd wake up in the middle of the night and not open my eyes and suddenly get really cold and I'd hear it come closer and breath in my ears and sometimes lick it. On those nights people either committed suicide or were murdered at the Gap park :/ I don't know if there's a relation or anything but it would always freak me out.

^Dude, thats fucked up. i'd be traumatised if that happened to me.

For me, i've never really experienced anything significant I don't think. My atheist parents noticed a few things, which they wouldn't lie about.

My dad is a massive amateur photography enthusiast, and when we were out in the middle of nowhere Ireland, far from any resemblence of civilisation and in open empty paddock land, he went to take a photo of one of the abandoned ancient bee-hive shaped stone huts. it was raining, so he went out in a huge hooded coat, and with his beard, pretty much looked like a monk. Him being the perfectionist that he is, he stepped up on top of a gravestone to get a better photo. At that exact point, something started yelling loudly at him, and he ran back to the car and started driving without telling us what had happened.

After my grandpa passed away, we inherited his car. And the radio never worked, at all. Until once, a year after his death, at his time of death, it came on, played his favorite song, and died again.

The thing i find funny is my dad just mentions this like it's a funny coincidence, he still doesn't take such things that seriously.
been a few other odd things. I'm agnostic.

Me and mates use to go to a place called Picton Tunnels in nsw. It was always talk of it being haunted. You take a dirt road off the main road and then come around a corner and enter the old train tunnel i think it was. Apparenlty a lady died there.

First time we go there to enter the tunnel a black cat walks out in front of us. Gave us a laugh. I took some photos with my camera and one of them had a image that looked like a ghostly face on the corner (dont have the photo anymore but everybody that saw it said the same thing). My mate took some video footage and the video picture kept splitting in two. And on another occation we went back there and were sitting in the car. A Train horn blasted but there was no train. Is it haunted how knows but it was pretty freaky place and always weird stuff would go on more then iv metioned here. Heck it was always a cool place to take girls to as well lol.
