I remember my first taste of 40k...

The first army you build, the first battle. All wonderful things.

Then you open your first battalion, I was overwhelmed when I first opened it. Sooooo many sprues.

Ah now I'm just craving it more. icon_sad.gif

I spotted a copy of MDK 2: Armageddon on PS2 at Cash Converters. I noticed that it was developed by Bioware. Does anyone know if it's any good?

EA might be announcing a new Ultima game. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Ultima was once a great IP, but I don't know that EA could do anything decent with it.

This EA website went up today - http://www.ultimaforever.com/

I admit that Pascoe Vale isn't the fanciest suburb, but yesterday I realised: we really need to update our billboards!

hahaha Bell Street madness. That's about 30 seconds away from where I grew up. Across the street there is currently some sort of religious billboard stuff going on. Let Jesus into your life, guys.

What do you guys think of the name Niobe for a baby girl? I really like it, she was the daughter of Tantalus in Greek mythology so she would have a cool story behind it too but the main thing is, is it a good name or too out-there? After some googling I also found (and remembered) its a name of a character in The Matrix which is a bit of a downer because people might think she is just named after her.

I am trying to find a name that's beautiful and not common without being too weird that she might get picked on at school. Some others I like: Francesca, Jasmine, Amina, Veronica.

PS. It's not my baby. but I'm playing a big part in helping choose the name :]

I think Amina is a good one. Doesnt sound to strange, to pretentious etc.
Plus I don't recall every having heard it so should be rare.

The others are good names but are common..

I think Niobe is fine, it's uncommon, but still a known name. Plus, the story behind it is cool. I feel like Amina is just a little too unheard of.

Niobe always sounded like one of those traditional African names to me. Which could be a bit weird if the mother's white (and the entire world also thinks it's an African tribal name).

Anyway, it's apparently worth looking into a name that can be shortened to something simple/common. So out of the four others I'd pick either Amina or Jasmine.

Probably Jasmine because Amina sounds like a mythical beast that kills you while you sleep and feasts on the dreams that you didn't have.

I seriously doubt that the child will get hassled because of that, maybe a year or so after The Matrix was released and huge...but Niobe really isn't one of the names from that franchise that people will remember for years. The only way I can see it happening is if there is somebody in the same class called Neo or Morpheus and brings attention to the fact.

Me personally? I wouldn't name the child that.

Genevive (or Genevieve, personally I prefer the former). Means "Woman of the people".

Has to be my favourite name ever. Just rolls of the tongue so smoothly too.

If I wasn't a guy I'd probably change my name to Genevive....

I'd pronounce the name differently depending on the spelling you've got there. I've always seen it spelled with the extra 'e'. Without the extra 'e', I'd end up pronouncing it as Genevaive (like Jive, but with a V) instead of the proper Geneveeve sound.

i've liked the name Amelie for... well, about 10 years i suppose... icon_razz.gif

i don't want kids, but if i did ever have a daughter, it was the name i liked.
unfortunately, a friend of mine called their daughter Amelie, so i can't really use it any more.

and yes - we both like it due to the movie.

there are a few other names i like for females too - i was actually just trying to work out why i've got girl names thought out, but no boy names, and then i realised that, apart from Amelie, they're all girls i've known... so i should probably scrub those names from any list too...
