Not my fave NiN song, but still great. 8/10

Keeping the theme. Johnny Cash's cover of NiN's Hurt. Fucking amazing and I'd rate it over the original.

8/10 for Johnny Cash, can't go wrong with Cash.

9.5/10 for Layla. I agree with you, the rockier (stemming from the original version of the song he recorder as Derek and the Dominoes) version is definitely a step (or three) above the unplugged version. One of my favourite songs of all time.

Introducing Frank Turner:

I don't listen to a lot of newer music (stuck in a bit of a 60's/70's timewarp) but my mate introduced me to this guy and I love him. Missed out on seeing him in Brissy a couple of months ago but apparently he was awesome (covered Bruce Springsteen too, which I would've loved).

I presume that you're referring to the DJ Shadow version? I have that in my music library, it's really good. icon_smile.gif I find the original version a little too haunting for my taste.

I'd go with a 7/10 for that track, it's pretty decent, but I was expecting melodic vocals right throughout so was a bit let down.

My contribution:

Oh, I should probably point out that it's Sugar by Floating Me.

7/10, I can see myself getting into their sound...

More from Massive Attack. I love this album and it's my second favourite behind Mezzanine. Great, dark tunes. This is the shortened version of Butterfly Caught, mad video.

6/10 Not too bad. It's the first time Ive heard it. With more listening it would probably grow on me. The film clip is interesting.

Here's one from me. System of a Down - Areals. I really like this song and clip.

Not really my kind of music, but I liked Serj Tankian on a Wyclef album, he's got an interesting voice.

Something totally different, my favourite song at the moment...

3/10 icon_sad.gif. Just not my type of music at all. Too by-the-numbers sounding.

MORE 70's PROG ROCK. This time from the kings.

7/10 Oh Prog Rock... you so crazy, it's a fun song and I totally get the feel of it, but I think there were better songs for the genre.

This is an Australian band - Karnivool covering an Australian artist - Gotye, I love this song so much, all I can think about lately.

And only because I had a dream last night that featured the entirety of this song I'm chucking in Book of Love by Peter Gabriel (some might recognise from the scrubs episode "My Finale") Feel free to ignore it icon_razz.gif

8/10 Love it. Love Gotye, Love Karnivool, didn't know they'd done this though.

Peter Gabriel
4/10 kind of wanky.

Keeping Peter Gabriel in Medical shows
Peter Gabriel covering... I think it's arcade fire? From a season finale to House. I'm not a big fan of Peter Gabriel but this song is amazing.

Eleventy billion / 10. <3 Nina. Haven't heard that before, was really cool and fit my current mood (scattered). Granted she has released like 50 albums or something. Do you know which that is from? Curious if it was earlier or later in her career.

Some more left field stuff because I'm in a very chilled mood right now. The Fuzz - I Love You For All Seasons.

Go on, I dare you to listen to this and not be moved. Then play it to your significant other and watch them try to hold back the sex. Check out the top comment from youtube:

This song is a nice, mushy and gooey song... AWESOME... I'm a death metal and hardcore punk freak, but this song just melts me inside, very few songs can do that and THIS is one of them...

No idea sorry, I heard it as the song on the credits to some british drama and it was what got me into Nina Simmone.

Under the video on youtube there is a button to hit 'share' will bring up a box with a whole bunch of html code. Make sure you click the 'use old embed code' box then copy all the code and put it between embed tags

so

7/10 for that groovy funky tune.

Now for the most under rated band on the planet, and one of the best gigs I've been to this year.

Any band that has their music licensed for car ads can't claim to be underrated. I saw them for the Monkey House tour as well, but I wasn't all that impressed and decided to never see them live again. Still, best Dandys album and 8/10 for the shoegazyness.

And now for something completely different:

Replaying a solid album, didn't know which song to choose:

The Dandy Warhols get more than enough attention as it is. Too much if you ask me.

As for Sin's, its not my style of music so I'll 5/10 it for neutralies sake. They sound really, really familiar though. How long have they been around? (too lazy to wiki)

And now for my favourite Porcupine Tree song;

The album that's from was released in '05, and that was the first single. Perhaps it was played on Rage or Triple J around the time. That said, the whole album has a very "A Perfect Circle" sound to it though which they moved away from on their subsequent release, that could be what you're hearing.
