Tales of Symphonia or either of the Golden Sun games are some of the longest RPGs I know of. KOTOR 2 was alright but only held me for 20 hours. A mmo such as Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, or FFXI also are well worth the money. _________________

If you want to save your bank account, I would say go get Guild Wars. I will last you a awfully long time. _________________

FFXI was my orginal decision, then it was WoW - but they seemed so expensive, then I found it - Guild Wars.

Guild Wars is a RPG story but you make parties to embrace each mission, little different.

I was joking, i think FF VII is any excellent RPG, even though its a bit outdated... Also if you can find Chrono Cross (old snes game) it is worth a look.

Anyways... any 1 played Baten Kaitos... good? bad?
...let's just say I want a game that's long but enjoyable that's on the comp right now. (anything but RTS never been good at those & don't like it much either...)
Fixed for you.

I'm playing Baten Kaitos right now. It's not too bad, graphics are nice and the battle system is alright if you don't mind the card style. I was a bit unsure of the card system myself as it's the first time I've played this type of rpg, but I got over it and it seems to work well once you get the hang of it. The battles are heavily dependant on how you use the cards as you get major damage bonuses depending on how you link the cards. The plot isn't heavy, but it's engaging enough. I'm halfway through playing it and so far it's been decent. _________________

Depends what consoles you've got. I'm sure I can give you a good list.
As for Baten Kaitos, yes it's a great game for RPG fans. It's more of a traditional RPG title (click & select) rather than TOS's Action/RPG formula. The card system isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's a fairly interesting concept overall, but there are a few restrictions that I found with the battle system.
Good story development, a lot of huge twist that'll knock your socks off and the overall persentation of the title is superb.
The problems, however, consisted of it feeling too slow in terms of story development. While the story is good, it doesn't get interesting until 8hours in. And while the battle system has some unique ideas, it also has it's issues.
I don't really know any good RPGs on the PC apart from KOTOR, but if you're looking for some PS2 RPGs than there's plenty. Speaking of which I still need to write a review for one of the more recent RPG titles to be released here.

My suggestion would be Skies of Arcadia, on either the Cube or Dreamcast. Enjoyed that one a lot.

I forgot to mention Skies, which is probably my favourite RPG game ever.
As for the other game I was talking about, it's Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. I think I remember seeing someone on this forum mentioning that they wanted this game. Anyway, the Shin Megami Tensei series is pretty well established in Japan already, it's good to see us PAL gamers finally receiving the series after so long. Very mature type of RPG with some fantastic RPG elements. Dante (DMC) is in it also. I haven't had much of a opportunity to get into it a great deal - curse you WoW! - but it has already set itself as a fantastic game, and I'm only roughly 5hrs into it.
Then after that you've got yourself Digital Devil Saga (unreleased atm) and the sequel to be released sometime after that, which is being released in the U.S this month I believe. Both games are part of the Shin megami Tensei series.
I'm just hoping that seeing as though how well received the series has been in the States and PAL countries that the franchise will continue to make it's way here, seeing as though there's currently a Shin Megami Tensei title in development for the DS, which could turn out quite interesting.
Personally, from my experience, a lot of the PC RPG titles are pretty mainstream. I haven't really experienced a great deal on the platform, but there isn't much of a selection.
But if you must try only 'one' RPG, definitely check out Skies of Arcadia since it'll be a sin if you don't. Especially if you consider yourself a RPG fan.

I would have got it if it was relased here but I wouldn't go though all that trouble right now to get it. _________________

Listen to mangaman cause he's the man to go to about rpg. I haven't really played that much rpg except for Final Fanisy Tactics Advance, i'd like to play InuYasha: The secret of the cursed mask. But not going to go to great a length to get it only getting 5/10, due to its budget. _________________

On PC you can't really go past Neverwinter Nights... there's a platinum version out now which includes the 2 expansions... not to mention there are heaps of new campaigns written by both fans and developers to download (for free unless you goto a scam site)
i bought KOTOR2, but it hasn't grabbed me like KOTOR1 did... i barely played it at all...
on console i'm not really a fan of the Final Fantasy style of RPG so i tend to play hack-n-slash RPGs... like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (i really should have picked up DA2, but i forgot) and X-Men Legends
of course there are some damn fine H&S RPGs on PC too, Diablo 2, Dungeon Siege (though DS2 is almost out... the demo is available, but at 1.3GB, it's a little much for my quota) _________________

Long RPG's eh...
I would suggest FFVII; its still a classic. Nuff said.
Chrono Cross also quite a long RPG; has good replay value; whereby you try to collect playable characters along the way. Also it has an engaging storyline.
Xenogears; this baby's story is like EPIC not to mention the numerous religious connotations. Took me a good 80 hours for a first play through. _________________
