Such a shame the dual analogue sticks don't seem to quite cut it. I guess it is destined to be nerfed in some way

I hope you can play games like Uncharted WITHOUT the touch screen crap. _________________ My YouTube game videos!

It's an option, they stated it numerous times. _________________

How well does the rear trackpad work? My biggest issue with the device is coming to terms with using a trackpad that you, a) can't really feel (judging by your impressions) and b) don't really know where you're moving around on.

^Jeremy knew where to place his fingers on the rear better than I did (ha ha) but generally you just sort of tap and slide by trial and error 'till you find the right position.
It's something I think you would need time to get used tp. _________________

I probably won't be picking this up for ports or your typical 3d games, but rather for all those rpgs I missed out on the PSP!

Out of everything next gen right now, the Vita holds the most interest for me. I have fond memories of snapping up a PSP on launch and honestly having some great times with it. I still fire up Wipeout Pure to this day. As we all know, the great games were far outdone by an immense amount of lacklustre titles which left a sour taste in my mouth.
I am very hesitant to put money towards something that now has more reason than ever to end up on a shelf untouched. Especially in the age of the iDevice and Android which are quickly gaining footholds in terms of not only gaming on the go that hass quality, but a medium that is extremely affordable. I'd much sooner spend $4AUD on a portable game over $70 any day..

Bit late to the party on this one, been overseas, but have a couple of Q's:
1. Will it support 3D at some point through the use of glasses?
2. Will the 3G version be able to be used as a phone handset? or will it be more of a headphones+mic/headset affair? or not at all?
3. Also.. is there an on screen keyboard?
4. Is this a pure gaming thing or is it still inline with the "multimedia" vision that the PSP and PS3 have been following? _________________

In response to your questions
1) I hope not
2) I dont think so, no phone capabilities on the Vita
3) good question... you would think so since it is touch screen
4) the latter

Oh well.. I was hoping I could justify buying it as a new handset/VoIP/headset phone.. but if no phone stuff, I won't be able to get one this year.. and by then, the Vita2 will likely be out.. _________________

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the 3G version of the Vita ends up with capacity to make and receive calls. It's pretty much a phone already, it just needs to be set up for that functionality. At this point though, we haven't heard either way. _________________

I'm sure it will be worth getting even more after the homebrew community get onto it (as long as Sony don't try to burn them this time)

I haven't seen any mention of what has been done to improve the security of the device. While a lot of people love the homebrew on the PSP it did seem like piracy really cooled developer support for the PSP. Personally, I hope Sony can keep the PSV from being hacked so that developers have more incentive to release quality games on the platform.

Funny you should mention that; the primary reason I bought my PSP was for the homebrew. Can't so no to a portable NES, Mega Drive, SNES, PS1 and PSP all in one that also plays Cave Story, music and movies.
I'm fairly certain it can emulate the arcade versions of old Capcom fighters too. _________________
