| killzone.com wrote: | āWelcome Backā to Killzone: Liberation!
As part of its customer appreciation program, the recently reopened PlayStation Store is offering existing PSN members a choice of special āWelcome Backā gifts. Weāre happy to announce that one of the gifts is Killzone: Liberation, the critically acclaimed third-person shooter that brought Killzoneās gritty universe to the PlayStation Portable.
Set two months after the events of the first Killzone game, Killzone: Liberation sees war heroes Jan Templar and Rico Velasquez taking on a deadly new Helghast leader. Appointed by Scolar Visari to assume control of the remaining Helghast Forces on Vekta, General Metrac and his sadistic second-in-command, Colonel Cobar, start a campaign of terror on the planetās southern continent.
Meanwhile, ISA leaders and scientists are secretly convening at Rayhoven Base to decide the fate of Southern Vekta, and perhaps of the entire war. Unknown to them, General Metrac has made the Rayhoven Base his next target. Itās up to Templar and Rico to foil the Generalās plans ā but what those plans entail goes beyond mere conquestā¦
In addition to an epic single-player mode, Killzone: Liberation comes with fantastic AdHoc features, including a two-player coop mode, frantic multiplayer battles and Game Sharing. The Infrastructure mode has been retired since its original release, but we have managed to preserve the downloadable Chapter Five DLC, which you can freely download here for the US version or here for the European version.
To install Chapter Five of Killzone: Liberation, please follow the instructions below carefully:
- Connect your PlayStation Portable to your PC via USB Mode, or place your PSPās Memory Stick in the memory card reader of your PC.
- Navigate to the/ PSP/GAME/ folder on your Memory Stick, and create a new subfolder within it called UCUS98646 (if you have the US version) or UCES00279 (if you have the European version).
- If there is no GAME subfolder within the /PSP/ folder, create one first.
- If there already is a UCUS98646 or UCES00279 subfolder within the /PSP/GAME/ folder, skip this step.
- Extract the files inside the downloaded Chapter 5 archive to the folder you created in step 2.
- Exit USB Mode, or place the Memory Stick back in your PlayStation Portable.
- Start Killzone: Liberation and go to the āDownloadsā option in the main menu.
- The PSP web browser will open. Cancel and exit the browser by pressing the āCircleā button.
- Killzone: Liberation will detect the new content and attempt to install it.
- Youāre done! Note that there will now be a new āKillzone: Liberation Updateā icon in the Memory Stick section of your XMB; please do not delete it, as this will prevent you from accessing Chapter Five.
In addition, weāve bundled all the downloadable unlockables from the original Killzone: Liberation website into one big archive, which can be downloaded for your perusal here. We hope youāll enjoy Killzone: Liberationās brand of intense portable action, as well as the unique look it affords into the events that preceded Killzone 2 and 3. On behalf of all of us at Guerrilla, āWelcome Backā to the PlayStation Store! |

Since it costs money...
Nope.
I don't see why it should cost anything since Sony are the ones who dropped the ball. _________________

Oh wait... I'm getting confused with the PlayStation Protection Plan, which is extra warranty for your PSP/PS3. _________________

Sorry if this has been asked but I just finished downloading my welcome back games ps3. Infamous and Wipeout HD. Infamous works great but I went and installed wipeout once it completed it disappeared. Has this happened to others. It stated success but once I hit circle button it no longer appeared anywhere. Very bizzare.
Not worried too much as the games were free and I also got psp ones as well.
Thanks

Go back a few pages or find the Welcome Back FAQ. There's instructions for getting back into them. It's something like XMB -> Account Management -> Services -> PS3 Welcome Back -> Free Games
BurnZ: Did you actually look at the link?

Me!, I'll repost since it did came in handy for people on Facebook who got stuck and seems like same thing applies here. That's for the PSP but I guess it is similar with the PS3 unless they change menu layout.

All in all i'm happy with the welcome back package. Sony didn't HAVE to do anything, but went out and offered some free games. I scored LBP and Mod Nation Racers on PSP and am pretty damn happy _________________

Disagree, they had to do something. The amount of business they would have lost if they'd done nothing could well have doomed any future playstation projects. financially.

I assume he meant that Sony didn't have to give games away for free, but they did. _________________ Want cutting-edge Australian video game journalism with a friendly community? Click here!

That is exactly what I thought he meant, and I disagree. Some bigwig from Sony holding a press conference to say sorry verbally would never be enough to quell the anger, resulting in people being loathe to purchase their products in the future. Giving us free games was a good way for them to get some of their supporters back onside, (as well as market upcoming games like InFamous 2) so they might still buy Sony hardware in the future, like the upcoming Vita.
Completely unrelated, I have a question I'm not sure is easily answerable. I have downloaded and set up Burnout: Paradise as part of the PSN plus deal. I understnad I can't play it after my PS+ days are done, but I wonder if I can play it if I'm not connected to PSN (before PS+ expires)? Or, if I pick up a cheap copy after my PS+ expires, will I be able to keep playing the same save? Will I have a seperate trophy list, or will I be able to add trophies to the same trophy list?

Nope. If you press triangle while having the game selected and go to information you can see how many days left till it expires. (18 days left on my Streets of Rage 2)
| sobriquet835 wrote: | | Or, if I pick up a cheap copy after my PS+ expires, will I be able to keep playing the same save? |
Burnout: Paradise is one of those annoying games that each different version of the game doesn't allow you to cross over region or even from a digital to physical copy of the game.
I found out the hard way. I own Burnout: Paradise and The Ultimate Bundle. (the Ultimate Bundle is a joke)
| sobriquet835 wrote: | | Will I have a seperate trophy list, or will I be able to add trophies to the same trophy list? |
Pretty sure that's the only thing that can cross over.
So yeah, one list.
Overall, I would just delete the PSN+ copy and get a cheap physical copy if you haven't done that much in the game. _________________
