Apparently the controller will not be sold separately.

so does that mean that no games will require one of these new controllers? Also what if you lose or break your controller than do you have to buy an entire new wii-u?

of course, god here i go again defending nintendo for some reason, but it is a while off yet before we should start heartily laughing at it.

I don't see how they could not sell the controller separately at some point

I get that it's a long way off from anything final, but that is still just the weirdest thing I've heard from a video game developer.

Especially when they just spent ages talking up how awesome there new controller is.

Man, it's Nintendo. There'll be at least 70 different controllers for this. And they might keep the controller bundled with the console to start with to sell more consoles, but they'll put them out on their own when people start stepping on them while playing that golf game they showed.

I'm waiting on it, because the concept of it is actually quite interesting. I want to see what they're going to do with it exactlyt before writing it off.

Their conference announcement and details were certainly a bit wtf, but yeah conceptually it has some potential there.

I might end up getting it one day for all the Wii games I missed, and any exclusives on it (eg Mario, Smash Bros etc). It looks like it has a lot of potential, I wouldn't be so quick to judge it.

That really is a fat controller.

If they are sold separately, how much would they cost?

It might be even more expensive than the PS Move in a 4 player game.

Speaking of 4 player - does that mean the console would transmit different screens of information to 2 or more controllers? How much processing power would be needed to transmit information back and forth to multiple controllers? I'm assuming the controller has a processor to render the screen, but the data has to come from the interface and the console.

Is the controller corded or wireless? If it's wireless, is it rechargable or do we have to go an buy a third party charger?

So the Wii U is apparently packing some of the tech from IBM Watson (the Jeopardy winning computer). No real details what exactly is in it yet, though it's a good sign.

Oh THEMAN, you funny bugger... here's a couple of points for you to consider.

1) iPad was not the first touchscreen or the first tablet

2) your iPads don't have all those gaming controls on them

The fact they've released very little info on the console itself makes me think the spec is still very much up in the air.

Still, I'm wise to the game this time around Nintendo. I ain't buying this at launch. I'll wait till the E3 where the announce the successor to the Wii U and then snap one up at bargain prices and the dozen ish decent exclusive games it'll have and get my fill that way thank you.

So it's basically going to be a big ds bottom screen?
I swear to god if they start forcing games that would function perfectly fine with traditional controls to be touch screen focused on it... I'll... probably bitch on the internet about it. (I'm looking at you DS Zelda games)
