Also I don't quite understand them using Arkham City and Battlefield as reasons to get it. Aren't those games going to be 6 months old by the time this is even released? It seems that the majority of the 3rd party games released on it will be on the other two platforms as well.
The list of confirmed games makes me think that they really shouldn't have announced this yet. Really? You don't have a single Nintendo 1st party game to talk about? Poor form by Nintendo. Did they even talk about the Wii? There is still another year of software to be released on that. Only slightly better than Microsoft this year with Sony winning out by a bit.

Im really pumped for it, stoked nintendo focused on the innovation rather than the hardware (I mean it doesnt really matter, long as that zelda hd bit was real!) not sure on the name....... was hoping to see some further along nintendo games (mario, metroid) but all in all, its a teaser. Looks like we will know the full brunt of it at TGS this year or whatever nintendo do......
3DS lineup, no huge surprises there.
WHERE WAS DRAGON QUEST X?????

Do you really think it was real? I mean they haven't even finished Skyward Sword and they have been working on that for the past 5 years or so. A new HD Zelda is a long, long, long way off.

Bit more info from Reggie on Gametrailers. The disc format is proprietary again. It's not Bluray, but he reckons it won't be a limiting factor.
So basically they're resurrecting HD DVD? lulz.

They needed to reveal more IMO. I know they love withholding information, but all we've seen/know is that the console can do one of two things (dual monitors/inventory system etc) but what about the specs, release window, ANYTHING!
They could get away with it a little with the Wii, since that was (for all intents and purposes) a brand new idea, but a touch screen is old news. I want to see what they are doing to make it their own/new again.
Also no Animal Crossing at the presentation!? Travesty. (I have seen the separately released trailer though, looks great)

Just a heads up guys, all footage of 3rd party games were running from 360/PS3/PC, all first party footage wasn't running on Wii U. Also, Battlefield 3 (and I'm guessing a lot of the other games) isn't being made for Wii U, it was just a montage of EA game footage to announce their support for Nintys new console. So basically, nothing solid regarding upcoming titles was revealed.

See this right here is why they should of waited till next year and release it all. Having a 1 and a half hour conference instead of 45 mins.... DAMN

If I were to speculate, then logically yes, what benefit would there be in releasing a graphically inferior console this late in the game? The real question is, how superior will it be?

Also will it really matter if its slightly more better graphics when people are use to there online networks and next year what if microsoft/sony announce their new consoles....

I'm not sure what people expect these days.
Of course Nintendo are going to make an upgraded Wii. It would be kinda weird if they made an upgraded 360. Every company just updates their previous console. PS -> PS2 -> PS3, for example, and the fact that I had to use an example is frustrating in itself.
It's Nintendo, come on! They are going to do Nintendo stuff. We know this. You don't have to be blown away, they haven't even showed us specs yet. That's never their style. It's about YOU AND ME AND WE or something.

^Agreed, as everyone knows, they're looking to make a healthy profit on their consoles, so don't expect an uber leet console in terms of hardware.
In terms of timing, the Wii had it wrong, Ninty released a graphically inferior console while a graphically superior console was on the market, and look how well it did. At least they have the timing right this time, releasing early with an upgrade on PS3/360 will get them plenty of sales. Some people are yearning for the next best thing and this will fill the void.
Just don't expect it to be a gift from the Gods, nothing could meet those expectations, you're just setting yourself up to be let down. Stay optimistic and keep an eye open.
