All the big name multi platform titles look nice on paper, but unless you own just the Wii U, why would anyone choose the U version over PS3 or 360? A few sites are reporting the hardware to be less powerful than the current consoles and without a proper controller, will they just have Wiimote/Nunchuck support?

Plus, I have stayed away from all these so called 'realtime demo's' after being burnt by Nintendo's Gamecube reel of Zelda all those years ago.

I hope I'm wrong, but I will predict the U to be just like the Wii became, a console that we only want for the Nintendo exclusives.

That video does look pretty cool though. I like the idea of using the controller as a second screen for stuff like the ball lie in golf.

And look at the controller!

That's pretty much it. I highly doubt I would ever buy multi-plat titles on the Wii U, it would pretty much just exclusives for me.

I gotta say, so far I'm very, very unimpressed with the announcement. Sure, it was awesome to see Zelda HD (which look damn nice) and know that there is a Smash Bros releasing on it. But they mostly focused on the damn controller (which looks fucking hideous and really uncomfertable) and alot of games that will be released on the other console's, so I wasn't interested in seeing those.

They should of focused alot more on the console itself and what it can do etc. I really wanted info on how the online would work, as thats a big selling point for me. However, I'm pleased to read that it will be backwards compatible with the current Wii games and that you can use the other Wii controllers.

IMO they should of waited a fucking year to announce it and had a 2 hour press conference instead of a 45 min one. They should of told us all about the console and controller the online everything instead of leaving us with a bad taste in our mouth.

I'm not really getting what the hook is. I either want to look at a tv or handheld console, not both. If I want to look at a handheld console, I suspect I'd rather use a PSP/DS.

Just saw this video and the controller looks worse than I first thought. It's way to big.

http://au.ign.com/videos/2011/06/07/e3-2011-wii-u-zelda-hd-demo

Also, EB have already listed this for pre order at $600...Ummm, yeah, no thanks.

That controller is ridiculous.
I can see the Wii U going the way of the Dreamcast.
While they will definitely put out some great games on the system, it will be superseded very quickly by Sony and Microsoft's next gen offerings.

People thought the same way when the Wii was released and look how well that sold. Nintendo just keeps bringing people back, they are the Apple of the console gaming world.

Wow, this is perfect for doing your own purikura (japanese style photobooth) photos. Everything is there, touch screen and camera. Just need the app and the days of going to a purikura is gone!

Looks like a tethered iPad. If the controller could be modded into a portable SNES, that would be amazing.

It actually does have dual sticks.. It actually has all the buttons of a PS3 controller and nubs.

At any rate im excited.. Being able to play games in any room of the house from my console is a huge win imo, hang out with the misses on the back landing while playing a bit of Zelda, mmm :)

Overall I think the controller looks a little odd, but feel a lot better seeing everyone say how comfortable and light it it... But serious, the Wii U name HAS to go..

I don't know what to think.

My first instinct is Nintendo has f'cked up. Gamecube with a display controller.

It's not a portable controller/console, Nintendo made that clear. It's only designed if someone else wants to watch the TV. There is a sensor on the controller, so you would have to be in the radius of the console to play it.

The Wii sold truckloads because it was marketed toward, and appealed to Mums and Grannies and just about any other schmoe who isn't traditionally a gamer. I seriously doubt that the Wii U will sell anywhere near as well as it's predecessor.
