Looks like Thundercats is getting a reboot in the next month or so in the US
| Quote: | The image shows four of the six main Thundercats characters, with only the twins WilyKit and WilyKat missing.
The characters have had an anime makeover - hardly surprising as it's Studio 4°C, the Japanese animation studio that is also working on erotic thriller Catherine, providing the art - but they're still immediately identifiable to fans of the show. The main character, Lion-O, (center) looks younger in this version, as does the speedster Cheetara (bottom left), whereas Panthro (right) looks older, and quite a bit meaner. The costumes have also received some tweaking, with the leotards and trunks of the original swapped for pants, vests, and what looks like actual armor.
Attendees at the London Toy Fair also got a chance to see some of the characters who aren't in the picture. Apparently the remaining two Thundercats have received complete redesigns, while the villainous Mumm-Ra - who can infuse his withered, mummy-like form with energy borrowed from evil spirits - remains quite similar to his previous incarnation.
The new Thundercats series is scheduled to debut on Cartoon Network at some point this year. According to spokespersons for the channel, fans of the old show will enjoy it a great deal |

I don't know what worse, that another classic cartoon needs a reboot, or that I saw a forum thread for the Human Centipede 2 linked from that page. They both have to be a joke... right?

Yeah this has been comming about for ages.
Here's the trailer from a couple of months back (Embedding disabled.... fuckers)
Honestly looking kind of average, the animation quality is so-so. Story looks like generic fantasy crap that takes itself far to seriously. It's gonna have to do something pretty impressive to get me interested before release.
I mean compare to the hardcore 2003 he-man remake it's not doing anything for me. _________________

Watched it. Loved it. It takes a little to get going, it's such a clear cut narrative in terms of setting things up for a 'hero's journey'. But I couldn't help but enjoy it, and being a fan of the original I can't help but be excited about what's to come.
Of all the characters, Lion-O has had the most changes, but the character development looks promising. Snarf too has been altered but still works as a decent comic relief. The rest all are as familiar as the original character designs, and yet more refined both in detail and in general performance.
It's early days yet, but I enjoyed it. It feels like Avatar: TLA in terms of tone, but the development team hasn't forgotten the roots of the show either (some of the sound effects alone brought a wry smile to my face). If I had one gripe, the early setup sequences could have been longer and more detailed, but it's a minor gripe.

watched the two parter this weekend and couldn't stand it.
The characters are boring and flat.
Lion-o goes from "I have no idea what this crazy tech stuff is" then within like 5 minutes is a tech expert.
Cheetara is what, supposed to be mysterious? She shows up, fights and dissapeares, that isn't interesting. That isn't... anything. That's being a plot device. Wiley-kat and Wiley-kit serve pretty much no purpose at all other then filling out the 'irritating little kid' slot. The Tiger dude is pretty cool though but that's it.
By the time the lizards attacked, I was rooting for the lizards.
This might, might have been salvagable if it had good animation. Instead the fight sequences were incredibly unimaginative and just felt lazy. Instead of actually animating how Cheetarah could use her super speed to take on a gang of 50 dudes, she just spins her staff and they all go flying backwards? Instead of showing the actual fight between Tigera and Lion-o we get close ups of there fists and feet flying towards each other. It just feels cheap and lazy.
Overall it felt like one of those shitty anime's that gets a really bad english dub and is on saturday morning. _________________
