Console gamers, cherish and respect this game as you would your own ploughing mothers.
I hope to Odin this sells crazy well and we get the sequel this game deserves. _________________

Having just recently tried to replay the first one, I understand where you are coming from Benza. I loved it when I first played it, but now, I don't know... it feels dated.
If you have a decent enough computer, make the jump to Witcher 2, you won't be disappointed.
Regarding it coming to consoles, great, just make sure Witcher 3 doesn't suffer for it.

I'm a little wary of buying a sequal to a game that I don't like. Hopefully it get's a demo on the 360. _________________

Witcher 2 is amazing and very different from the first game. But pc will be the ideal platform, it's probably the best looking game out there at the moment. Probably cause I wasn't that wowed by the visuals in Crysis 2 I guess. Dense forests always look nice. _________________

What about the game is so great on the PC other than the graphics?
Everyone keeps saying that it won't be as great on the PC, and it's this amazing game and everything. But from everything I've seen it would play fine on a controller (Infact I'm pretty sure some people are playing it on a controller on the PC anyway)
It makes it seem like people think the only great thing about it is the graphics if taking a hit to them is going to be such an issue. _________________

Tried on both kb+m and pad. Pad works fine, only real difference is KB+M gives you more speed and flexibility. It IS a better system with kb+m, solely because of the quick reactions which is kind of a big deal in a game that's as fast paced and punishing as this. But yes, pad works fine.
It'd work fine on consoles, they just need to streamline inventory systems and other things a bit more so it's easier to access.
It's going to take a giant hit in visuals on console though. 30fps for sure, and much lower texture res. Won't stop it from being probably the best looking game out though! _________________

Well yeah, but I guess thats the point. I dont think anybody thinks the game wont be playable on a console. It was, after all, built with a pad in mind, so it will play fine. People probably just call the PC version the 'best' because it will be where the best visuals are found. Even if the game content remains the same, if you're talking about which version is best then the PC version would it be thanks to the boost in visuals, right? A default kind of thing.
Still, it doesn't really matter. It plays great with a pad from what I've heard, and mechanically will be the exact same experience. A graphical hit is expected, as there's no way in hell any current generation console could push maxed out textures, but I'm sure it will still look great regardless.
Im quite surprised at the lack of a PS3 version mind you. _________________

Aww, I don't have a good enough PC/notebook to run this and I can't afford to buy a 360.
A Nintendo {insert new console name here} launch port (360 port), perhaps?
A man can dream.

You can't afford like $250 for an arcade but can afford however much a brand new Nintendo console is going to cost? _________________

Benza, good point about the demo. If you can somehow get your hands on the Witcher 2 to try it out, you will hopefully be impressed.
Regarding the difference on PC/Console, for me, purely a control and graphical issue; I prefer kb+m over a controller in almost all cases and the graphics in this game are simply put amazing, a current gen console just wouldn't do it justice. That said, this game should port nicely to a console, having played it for a few hours now I can see how they've made it for them in mind.

Another big plus playing it on the PC is the availability of mods. Right now there are mods that change gameplay, redo skills to make it more challenging/easier, change potion and oil duration etc. There are also lots of texture replacements, interface tweaks and bug fixes.
