I'm thinking of buying a faulty console, as Im too cheap to buy a new, working one. Apprently it turns on for 2-3 minutes with no display and turns its self off. From what Ive read around the interwebs this is because of a corrupt hdd. How easiy would this be to fix? and what are the chances of it not being a corrupt hdd?

I'm not an expert on fixing PS3s, but I'd expect a corrupt hard drive to display an error or at least display the 'you must install firmware 3.xx' like when you insert a new drive.
Remember: if you buy it and can't fix it yourself you can most likely pay $250 to Sony to get it fixed. Just make sure it's not been opened/modded - they might not accept it then.
Good luck no matter what you choose! _________________

I think thats the thing the PS3 doesnt tell you that you need to format. You need to go into recovery menu.

The ad doesn't say, all it says it that it turns on with no display and after 2-3 minutes it turns off. So no idea what the LEDs do.
