The triple green shell was a decent shield against red shells and other weapons too.
I'm trying to think of crap weapons now. I guess the pistol in the 3D GTA games was pretty crap too. I mean, once you get the better weapons do you ever consider using it again? _________________ My Photos

Dumbfounded that green shell is number one. It just requires you to calculate the right trajectory as opposed to blindly unloading shells. The ricochet is a lethal weapon, in the right hands. Also very useful as a sacrificial meat shield against red shells or bananas.
It is useful for when you form an alliance, or Kart Gang if you will, and you need to watch your friendly fire.
Many a time has my heart skipped a beat when I see those three red shells pop-up, firing them off in a righteous fashion, only to realize in horror as my friend turns to me, his heart breaking and face contorted in pure incomprehension as he realizes it was me who did this....it was me.

I'd rather have a green shell than a banana peel any day. _________________

What about the Poke in Worms? Pretty god damn useless, especially since the Dragon Punch is usually infinite.

Yes, and it is a ranged weapon...not a sniper rifle.

Eh, surely that was more of a utility than a weapon? _________________ Want cutting-edge Australian video game journalism with a friendly community? Click here!

And the eggs in RE were a health item, they still made the list. _________________

Thats kind of like the impact hammer from Unreal, useless as all hell (Denny might disagree ) but damn it was funny when you killed someone with it. And having an impact hammer and fighting with someone else also using an impact hammer...god its one of the most funnily awkward fps multiplayer moments you can have. Two people just trying to circle each other and run forward into each other whilst not letting the other person run forwards into yourself hahaha

Couldn't the impact hammer be used for jumping and instant-kills? I remember it in one of the UT games being pretty good. At least it was better than the Q1 axe. _________________

Ah I forgot about the jumping part, but as for the instant-kills, it never worked for me and my friends. Maybe it depends on the map but most of the time me and my friends were too....jumpy to get hit by it lol

Yep
Impact Hammer jump was epic useful, that and you can impact hammer your translocator so it gets thrown across the map. I used to do that to teleport on top of flags.
Also the shield gun in UT2k4 is pretty much the most useful thing in the game for various reasons. _________________

I used to do the translocator thing a lot, it was a godsend and if you were half decent you could use it to save yourself from a fall if I remember correctly.

There was a certain map in UT, can't remember what it was called (Warehouse maybe?), but it had a box with a shield on it and to get up on the box you'd go between a wall and the box to get to a smaller box to jump up. Anyway, every now and then I used to wait near the little box with the impact hammer and rack up like 10 kills on players trying to get to the shield before they'd catch on. I thought it was hilarious because as they came around the corner they would've shat their pants but it was too late and they'd be gibbed. Made up for all the times they used to kill me with multi-fire rockets while camping at respawn points.

The cannon mounted on the Septic Avenger in Saints Row 2 is really useless - just sprays and knocks people back with a torrent of raw sewage .... _________________
