Looks like Carmelo is all but leaving the Nuggets for the Knicks, just a question of when.

Wow. Just when I thought my team was going to slip down the pecking order, they go and trade away two key players, bring back a forgotten son and retrieve two skilled scorers! Suddenly Orlando are back in the frame. And to think, we were also close to picking off Paul or Anthony!
It's funny really. Hedo leaves us, does nothing in Toronto and Phoenix, and finds himself back where he started. I just hope all is forgiven and he can find his touch again. Just glad we've got a guard who can settle things down, I'm starting to get annoyed with Nelson's antics.

I don't think Orlando are back in the frame at all. Sure, they got better, but Dwight is going to have guards driving at him all day with the severe lack of defense the Magic now have.
On another note: I watched the Heat VS Wizards yesterday... I don't think I've ever seen a more laughable end to a game. The Wizards had it in the bag, you'd have to think they threw it. _________________ My YouTube game videos!

Interesting trade. Jason Richardson is an upgrade over Vince Carter simply because he actually plays some defense. The Magic still need another back up C/PF though.. Bass is great, but the only other big they have now is Ryan Anderson. IMO they should've kept Rashard Lewis - that Hedo/Lewis combo two years ago was deadly as it stretched out the defense. Definitely going to be interesting times after that trade.
The loser out of all of this? Steve Nash. Phoenix should trade him if they've just essentially started rebuilding.
@Phreakuency - yeah, that MIA/WAS game was a joke in the end. I don't understand why Andre Blatch was doing half the stuff he was doing. He's not good enough to be trying to take people off the dribble or off an isolation.
btw, Go Spurs! Haha. _________________

I dunno if that trade made Orlando better, the timing was pretty bad though. No practice time and the new guys are pretty much going to be inserted into the line up with little or no team chemistry.
I do think it makes Orlando's outfit look different with the change in players, but they haven't really addressed their defensive problems.
The trade wouldn't have worked unless they got rid of Rashard Lewis, if not for the player's skill set but mostly for cap room, he is the second highest paid NBA players this year. _________________

The trade certainly took me by surprise, but I have to admit, I'm glad to see the back of Lewis. His averages have dropped consistently since his first season, and not because he isn't getting open shots per se.
The timing certainly wasn't the best, but at least they lost to Philly and not, say, the Lakers or Miami at home. What can work is Arenas and Richardson, they know each other well enough that they can pick up where they left off. It'll be sketchy in the first few games, but if it works, the offence will click over quicker, and with Bass and Richardson in the starting lineup the defence should also improve. Add to that having JJ and Hedo coming off the bench for a little extra firepower.
It's just a shame we had to let go one of the better backup big men in the game.

I'm pretty cut to see J Rich go, but its not like we art going to do any better than first round of the playoffs.
I don't want to see him go but I hope we trade Nash to a contender. _________________

Who do we like for the Finals? I fucking hate the Heat and love Dirk, but I can't see Dallas winning unless Dirk gets 40 a night.
LeBron was ridiculously clutch against the Bulls in game 5, but Dirk's been on another level all Playoffs.

I had all my support pinned on the Thunder, too bad they were humiliated 4-1...
I suppose I'm behind the Heat here on principle. _________________

Meh. Dirk and Kidd deserve a finals win.
Because of that, and because I don't want LeBron to win, I'm behind Dallas.
LeBron is the best player in the league by a country mile, but he doesn't have to be so arrogant. _________________

I think Dallas can win.
Chicago really played pretty poorly against Miami, and still if they didn't choke up at the end could have won the series. Chicago's shooting was poor, Boozer was a joke, and Rose was happy to try and score over three blokes.
Dallas has more scoring options, Dirk is unguardable right now and they have much better depth and outside shooting than the Bulls. So they have the ability to do it.
Miami are playing good ball, especially in the dying moments.
I think Dallas in 6 or 7 though. _________________

I only started following basketball this year so I have a question: why do so many people hate the Heat?

I hate them for the same reason I hate Chelsea. They bought their way to a final by bringing in Lebron, and the way they did so was mishandled and embarrassing for the sport.

So is it more people hate the Heat because they hate LeBron, particularly his handling of 'The Decision'?

That is a key factor, also ebfore the season started they came out and said they were going to win no less than seven championships together and pretty much that no one could ever beat them.
Modesty or humility does not really exist in that team. _________________ Kill each other nicely please.

Also, I've always disliked LeBron, so unless he went to the Suns I was going to hate his team anyway.
The guy comes across as a massive dbag, from being a jerk to a kid taking his warm up jacket in Chicago last year, to being 'injured' and shooting left handed free throws. Then disrespecting Cleveland with his BS announcement special, how could you like the guy? He can play, no doubt, but he's still a wanker in my eyes.
I say all this, yet I like Kobe Bryant. _________________

Yes LeBron is the best player in the NBA.
But he really doesn't need to remind the world every day. _________________

Did anyone here buy the NBA League Pass? Is it worth the money? I'm thinking about buying the season next year because One HD's coverage is average.
Anyone sadly I think ESPN has the live rights to the NBA finales, but One HD are showing them a few days later:
Game 1: Thursday 1.30 PM AEST
Game 2: Sunday 9.00 AM AEST
Game 3: Tuesday 1.30 PM AEST
(the TV guide I have is only for a week)
Kind of pointless as the result will be known, but I'll still watch the games.

^ Yes, definitely worth it if you're into the game and plan to watch regularly. Also if you have an iPhone of Android mobile you can get the gametime app and watch all the games on your phone as well.
Didn't buy it for hte playoffs, which I regret a bit, but we haven't had any classic series so not too disappointed.

These days yes, in the past LeBron's J was ugly! A lot easier to get better looks with the team he's on now.
Kobe's need to be the hero really hurt him this season I feel. _________________

^ Yes and no.
I think he may have felt a little more responsibility than usual as well, given no one else around him was playing particularly well. Gasol is usually a valuable second option, however I think he probably had a year to forget, particularly in the playoffs.
While I don't think anyone can effectively outpoint Nowitzki, I expected him to put up more of a fight. Was pathetic to watch. _________________

Oh yeah he definitely didn't have the support, I just found some of the isolation plays he wanted to go with was painful to watch, attempting harder shots than needed so he could look better if he hit them.
The change in Gasol still confuses me, he went from nearly the best PF in the league to.. well I can't even describe it. LAL were no chance with Gasol playing the way he did. _________________
