Bah, I can barely remember it anyway, it's been three years already since Episode 2... |
They'll likely just move the story to Half-Life 3 - merely dropping the pretense of episodic games _________________

^It's not really the impression I got from the article. Though they might have interpreted what Gabe said wrongly (ie, they're only going to focus on TF2 and other online games), as surely that philosophy would have discounted Portal 2.
Also, a co-op Half Life experience would be lovely. _________________ My Photos

They'd be fools to drop a multi-million dollar franchise like that. The TF2 comment was about the delivery model, rather than gameplay: continually updated games as a service.

Yes, it would. I've also seen comments from Valve that Portal 2 will be their last game with a traditional single-player campaign - so I guess co-op is Valve's way of the future for story based games. _________________

If you haven't played it yet give svencoop a shot. I spent so much time on that when I was younger, that and pretty much all the half life stuff.
As much as I sven co-op, I really don't want Valves story based games to move in this direction. I just don't feel the same feeling of immersion playing with someone else that I would get in a single player experience.
I don't have any time atm for one of these game grids, so I will go back into hiding/coding land. _________________

Half-Life still exists. Valve has confirmed multiple times its still being worked on. Its just that the episodic model was a huge failure, and most suspect 'Episode 3' will be closer to a full retail game. _________________

These were the first 9 games that came to mind instantly, I may have forgotten one or two but it was unlikely.
Super Mario All Stars - Technically 4 games but this was the first game I ever had as a kid on my SNES pack that I only finished after getting into university
C&C: Tiberium Sun - First strategy game that I played and still play it, I love it
San Andreas - Such a great open world game, the missions didn't feel like a chore (such as in GTA4) and such a great story
CS - Best multiplayer FPS imo
Diablo 2 - probably the game I've sunk the most hours in, my teenage years were mostly D2 and CS I'd have to say
God of War 2 - Played this on the PS3 collection, bar the graphics its better than the other 2 games in every way.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - The first time I was able to experience the full power of my PS3
Mario Kart 64 - Somehow I never got Mario 64, this was more than sufficient to make up for it
Bad Company 2 - This is more for the multiplayer aspect than the campaign. I couldn't fit it in but if I was able to put in a game for its campaign purely - Medal of Honor 2010 would definitely be in!
Feel free to critique and berate me accordingly! _________________ Contributor @ http://www.esperino.com/

Braid
I loved the time-based puzzle gameplay of Braid. It felt really fresh and unique for a sidescroller. I named my cat Timmy (after the main character), because he'd sit and watch the screen and jump at him all the time.
Borderlands
This game was fun for chilling out with friends, either in the split-screen or online. I loved all the unique weapons and killing bosses in the co-op.
Fable 2
Fable 2 was epic and having a companion dog was cool.
Dragon Age: Origins
Like Fable 2 kind of, but more serious and a lot more depth.
Wind Waker
This was my favourite game on Gamecube, finished it 3 times. I also love Ocarina of Time, but I played Wind Waker first.
Halo: Combat Evolved
The first first-person shooter I played, I remember the multiplayer being heaps of fun.
Heavy Rain
I just love love love Heavy Rain. It may not be conventional in a lot of ways, but the story and characters were awesome and I liked all the story branches. It had a lot of replayability.
Grand Theft Auto IV
Playing GTAIV was like throwing myself into another living, breathing world. I found it really immersive and I loved the characters.
Uncharted 2
Graphics were awesome. Helped that it was a fun game too. _________________

Honestly I'm still amazed some people rank Goldeneye over it, PD was better in literally every single way. |
Do you think that is more amazing or the fact that I never really liked Goldeneye?
I didn't like Goldeneye very much but I absolutely loved PD. _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

My apologies i dont know how to shrink the picture.
Wish it was 4x4 instead but this is what i came up with.
Super Castlevania IV - My favourite SNES game and the best Castlevania period. Love the stages, the bosses and one of the best Soundtracks ever (Timeless). Still kick Draculas ass at least once a year.
The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time - There was a period in my life were i quit playing games and went to a friends place and saw him playing this and was amazed. I bought a Nintendo 64 the next day and got hooked to this masterpiece and gaming all over again and have never looked back.
Resident Evil 4 - Was a close one between Resident Evil Remake on Gamecube and this. But 4 took it due to having the perfect balance with Controls, Horror and Action. Also played countless hours playing Mercenaries and Assignment Ada.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 - My favourite shooter ever and i have played them all.
Capcom Vs SNK 2 - Ever since i first played Street Fighter 2 at the arcades i have been addicted to fighting games. This game stands out because its got a dream roster from Capcom and SNK two of the best in the business.
Winning Eleven 6 Final Evolution - Being a huge Football/Soccer nut i have always bought and played the latest FIFA's and Pro Evo/WE. I have had countless tournaments with friends and share the best memories from this game and franchise. This edition was perfection.
Metroid Prime Trilogy - What can i say about Metroid Prime? Probably my favourite single player games ever. The atmosphere, and sence of being alone in alien planets is unmatched. A huge part on why the Gamecube was my favourtite system ever.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - The perfect platform game. Strikes a perfect balance between the 2D/3D era's. Deserves the praise it gets and over 240 stars.
Mass Effect 2 - Finished this game 4 times and was my first game to ge all achievements for (Not that i care about achievements). Love the choices and story and exploring the Milky Way. This game is the definintion of Epic.

1. Duke Nukem 3D Atomic
I played this so much through high school, using the classic serial cable to hook up two laptops together and duke it out old skool 1v1. I can say with much pride that I was also the best in the school!
2. Resident Evil (Franchise)
The original series that got me into survival horror, of which I am still passionate about today. I chose the second game in particular as my cover as it was truly amazing with the different game scenarios, the plot, and the scares.
3. Project Zero (Franchise)
I recently completed the first title in the series, and am about to make my way into the sequels, but to even describe the way this game makes me feel would not do it justice. Spine shivering and complete dread are just a hint of what's in store with an amazing audio track (especially in surround!), and perfectly placed scares.
4. Final Fantasy 7
I think everyone has heard everything there is to hear of this, and there really isn't much I could add. An incredible game, one that I wish would be brought to the HD era.
5. Dead Space (Franchise)
And just when I thought Resident Evil couldn't be topped, along comes a little game called 'Dead Space'. The universe that this franchise has created is absolutely unreal, one I am looking forward to dive further into. I chose the direct sequel because it improved on the original in every way, and some of the set pieces are truly spectacular (The medical deck).
6. Fallout (Franchise)
I was lucky to follow the Fallout universe from it's beginnings, and they were also my first taste into the RPG genre. Epic storyline, the perks and traits system was one of a kind, and the sadistic humor littered throughout was a nice touch. I chose the third title because it brought the wasteland to life, and also the leap to a more real-time gameplay mechanic that I could switch in and out of.
7. American McGee's Alice
This title just slipped in as my final choice above 'Clive Barker's Undying' only because I thought it was 'beautifully twisted'. It has a rather nice charm, and is still visually impressive with the art style. For all you peeps that haven't had the opportunity to play the first game, make sure you do before you dive into the second. You won't regret it!
8. Chrono Trigger
Robo, Frog, Marle, Lucca, I could go on! There is nothing bad I can say about this game. The characters were all interesting, and it was a pleasure to pursue their side quests once they were opened. I really enjoyed the Tech system as well, especially once you opened up the dual and triple abilities. It opened up a huge variety of play strategies. And who can ever forget the music! Brilliant game, and a must play, even today!
9. World of Warcraft
And lastly, the game that took away 3 years of my life! I've always been a huge fan of the Warcraft universe, but when I first launched 'World', I just had no idea how deep I would go. Being able to explore the lands I've known so well on a closer scale is great, and some of the quest lines are really interesting. But I think the reason I got into this game so deeply was the fact I joined at the start, and went on the new journey with a group of friends that bonded together. It was a co-op experience on a grand scale. And, say what you will about this game, but there is no denying how much of an impact this game has made on the world. _________________ Playing: Fallout: New Vegas

So was looking through the GOG catalogue and all the games I bought, and I had to do another mosaic, representing games I grew up on and played endlessly. While not necessarily my absolute top games, they deserve a mention + the nostalgia brings a tear to my eye:
My email is named after the game in the middle <3 PLEASE COME BACK TO ME LOK. _________________
