Generally i just hold down Y for a mark and try and move the dude to any type of position in front of the other guy, if i don't think i am going to make it, i change it to a spoil.
After they patch it, you should be able to bump them out of the way a bit easier as i think pressing RS in a contest at the moment does a spoil automatically rather than a bump, think it's a known issue _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

Well, I gave it a good shot and actually have won my first three games. I found that changing the team plays actually helped me alot as they weren't manning up before. The bumps I'm really not good at so I mainly tackle and take opponents to ground. I'm yet to even try the kick modifier but things are coming together slowly. I am alot better at handballing which makes all the difference. I found that I just had to think on my feet alot more to dispose it as a handball. When things do flow together well, it is quite impressive to play! Nothing beats snatching the ball up on a dime and snapping one in for a goal.

Well with the PSN just coming back, I had my first online game in awhile.....This guy was lagging so bad though (definately wasn't me as my connection strength was 60%)
I've never seen lag so bad, I would have the ball and get it all the way to my goals, but it would somehow end up at his end. After he got 11 goals in a row I had no choice but to rage quit, he was being unfair. _________________

I guess they've still got a few more issues to iron out on the PSN side of things. Still unsure as to how to earn the tackling and hard hit achievements. I'm guessing that a successful tackle is when the player is done for holding the ball?
I don't have the slightest about hard hitting. Is that sprinting to a bump?

I've played it on two 360s (a 2006 model and a 2009 model) and no issues. If you haven't already, I suggest installing it to your hard drive and playing it through the HDD and see how you go.

Happened to me a couple of times as well, both times when using the sub so now I just don't bother with it. Might have just been coincidence but it hasn't frozen on me since giving up on subbing players.
I'm annoyed at the home gear and away gear being the same with a lot of teams when they actually wear white shorts in away games. Kind of pety I know, but I want to be able to play as Melbourne in white shorts and their home jumper after watching a game where they were wearing just that. Just comes across as lazy when a team's home gear is exactly the same as their away gear when it's obviously not the case.

I did install last night after it happened, figured it was worth a try.
I did sub in the game it happened last night, as I got hit with 4 injuries at once. The other times it happened after the final siren, players start to celebrate and the boxscore never pops up.
Hopefully the install works, I need to get St Kilda to that premiership! _________________

Just played someone weird online, they made their own custom team and I was doing well, then all of a sudden all his players got ridiculously fast and he beat me like 120 to 19. Not to mention from 2nd quarter onwards ALL my players got an injury AT THE SAME TIME....I don't understand.
Steroids?
Edit: Oh no, me quitting the match before with the guy who was lagging so bad has stained my perfect record Now I am only 91% reliable. _________________

I wouldn't give them too much flak Blur. This is Red Ant's first 'current gen' effort. Their CEO was quoted as saying that AFL Live's entire budget cost as much as the $$$ that EA packed into FIFA's menu screen!
If this one does well enough (and why shouldn't it?) expect to see the quality improve next year. There's also a patch in the works which aims to resolve alot of bugs which will make things better too. The aesthetics will come in time mate

I was looking at this on Wii in EB today. Holy crap, it looks like a terrible PS2 game.

Had the freeze again. Three of the four times have been after beating Adelaide in Adelaide. Siren sounds, players seen celebrating and the final score board doesn't pop up.
I've tried installing, not using the sub.. very frustrating, after the first two times I started a new season to see if that would do it, still no luck. Not sure what else I can do, other than keep playing it and hope I get lucky, maybe I need to lose? _________________

The Wii game is just called AFL, they are made by different studios and are completely different games.
The Wii game is meant to be a more arcade experience.

What difficulty are people playing on? "Legend" or whatever it is, is too hard. You can't stop the opposition from scoring - I've found I can only win by entering into a massive shoot-out and just outscoring them. If I'm struggling to score, I get pumped.

^ I play on that, games usually go back and forth. Like a real good top of the table clash, except it happens every week. Round 1 in my current season I came from about 30 down in the last quarter to win by a point. A week later the exact opposite. It's the only time the game is challenging, but it's also frustrating with some of the passes the CPU can pull off. _________________

Looks like the Wii game got an excellent review from Kimberley Ellis. It has piqued my interest considerably!

I play on Veteran myself.
Last night I faced some mad cheater. Two people were controlling my opposition, one of them kept running in front of my player, stopping him from moving while the other one just went straight for the ball.
I dunno I just didn't find that very fair. _________________

It wasn't proper shepherding though....It was more like "oh you're going to get the ball, quickly person sitting next to me, block him off by running straight into him"
Edit: To save a double post, I just won two full time NAB cup matches on legend, extreme injuries....Suddenly the platinum trophy is in reach _________________
