ok I hate doing these cause I know I've forgotten some and there are others that I fucking love but can't fit on a 3x3 grid. But here's mine.
Row 1 from right to left.
Crystal Caves
Growing up with a PC this was my Mario (more so than commander keen which terrified me with the wolves) this was also the first game I ever beat. Awesome game and sometimes I think I'm one of like 3 people that remember it. If I went back and played it now it probbably wouldn't hold up that well, but it takes over games like Jill of the Jungle, the original Duke Nukem, Comander Keen, Cosmos Cosmic Adventure etc just cause I managed to beat that fucker (And then he started a tribble farm or something?)
Duke Nukem 3D
I was big into the old FPS games that used sprites. I kind of stopped being as interested in them after they went full 3D with Quake. They just seemed less fun. Out of all the old ones Duke was defintley king. Just the sheer amount of stuff in those games, pipe bombing the right wall to get into the projector room to start up the porno theater, then bombing the crack in the screen to get a teleporter or something (Maybe it was a jet pack it's been a long time) It was just such a damm creative game. Loved the shit out of it.
Diablo 1
I could never really get into diablo 2, but loved the first one. Don't think I ever beat it (I was never that good at it) but was hooked on it for ages. I think by the time diablo 2 came out I was a bit older and the idea of a game that was nothing but clicking just bored the shit out of me.
Row 2
Lylat Wars
Best game on the 64 hands down. I've played through this game so many times it's ridiculous. I used to know every level back to front and be able to quote every line of dialouge from the game. So much fun finding all the hidden shit and the amount of voice acting they managed to cram into a first generation 64 game is fucking crazy. God Nintendo need to make a new fucking lylat wars. Hell I even enjoyed Adventures and... uh the other one on gamecube. (The DS one is fucking shit house though) but what I wouldn't give for another full propper fucking Lylat Wars game.
Perfect Dark
Screw Goldeneye this was FPS perfection. 2 player co-op was heaps of fun, counter op was fucking brilliant. And the addition of bots into the multiplayer made it a hell of a lot more fun. That and the extra weapon modes. Shit finding a little hiding spot and using the camera guided slayer rockets to hunt people down. Or the Farscope shooting people through walls. The weapons in this game were fucking insane.
WoW
I was going to put WC 3 here which is an amazing game... then I remembered I spent 5 years playing wow so it definitely has to rank above 3. I never really raided or seriously pvped in that time (Did some arena groups for shits and giggles and played old AV when there weren't many rewards and it lasted for hours) mainly though I was obsessed with the lore in that game. Like hardcore obbsessed. Tried to get back into it during Cataclysm and found myself just not giving a shit though.
Row 3
Guilty Gear X2
I've always mucked around with fighting but this one was the first time I got serious at them. Slayer and Zappa were my mains and I could pull of some crazy shit with them. I had to stop using slayer cause he was fucking OP in X2 and could combo into his instant kill way too easily. I've always loved characters with an element of luck to them and loved Zappa's random summons. Honestly as much as I love blazblue I don't think it's come close to the brilliance of GGX2, fuck I hope they hurry up and make a next gen GG 3
Beyond good and evil
I was admittedly slow on the uptake with this one picking it up for 5 bucks on a discount table at harveys. Brilliant game, one of the best stories I've seen in a game and absolutely gorgeous. The animation in this game is what made me want to become an animator. It's simply fucking amazing in points. Hurry the fuck up with BG&E 2 Ubisoft you cunts.
Prince of Persia - 2008
I loved all the PoP games on Gamecube (Though I think two thrones was the strongest and I know a lot of people disagree there, but it's mechanics of using the platforming to subvert the combat and get insta kills was great). I know a lot of hate gets layed on this game for being pretty simple after the last 3, and yeah it really is. But I loved the characters, the animation, the mood, the dialogue, the development, the style etc etc.
The way the relationship between the prince and elika develops is great, there are some genuinely laugh out loud funny bits of dialogue (The eye spy game) and I love the little things like at the begining of the game every-time you fall and Elika catches you she basically scolds you for being a tool, but as the game goes on she becomes more worried about you and tonnes of little things like that. That and the animations are just... fucking wow. It's the first game I've played that made you feel like you were really interacting with a character through more than just talking at eachother. AND THAT ENDING! OH MY FUCK! Seriously one of the most amazing endings in any game I've ever played. The only thing that comes close was RDR (And I had that ruined for me by a youtube comment... fucker) Seriously if you don't know allready this game is worth playing for that ending alone. _________________

I have to agree Diablo 1 > Diablo 2.
Maybe it's only people above a certain age who think this _________________ Da Bessssss

world of warcraft - the biggest and best game i have ever played. so much to do and so little time. having achieved loremaster for completing every quest, explorer for exploring the whole game and beating the lich king, i retired from playing this mammoth game having completed some big achievements
star wars knights of the old republic - a truly remarkable game. the story was great, i took you to a heap of awesome locations and your actions bacme the setpieces for the star wars movies in the future, not to mention an awesome ending
space quest 4 - the point and click adventure is the greatest genre to me and i spent most of my childhood working away at the puzzles they created for me. kings quest 1 was the first pc game i ever played, so many amazing games havecome along since, monkey island, grim fandango, day of the tentacle, same and max, but the most memorable one for me was space quest 4. it had time travel, great humour and a real challenge to finish.
street fighter II - the ultimate fighting game for me. a great mix of characters to master and a challenge especially when playing a mate at the local corner store before school. i remember my best mate fighting away and maori gangsta from the state school down the street pushing into him, putting his coins in, challenging my mate without asking if he could. the little prick got smashed, so he punched the joystick saying it didnt work and walked off in a huff. amazing times
baldur's gate - the epic rpg of my teen years. such a huge game and a great introduction to the dungeons and dragons rules in game format. such a huge story and a great ending
twinsun's odyssey (little big adventure 2) - a great little adventure with heaps of really genuinely difficult puzzles. this game had super graphics for the time and was a heap of fun and each puzzle kept you glued to your seat for hours
final fantasy VII - the epic jrpg i fell for when i first saw the case. simple design which hid discs with amazing characters and a terrific story
tales of symphonia - this game was epic and one of the few rpgs i have managed to actually finished and was amazing from start to finish. getting to what i thought was the ending and it was only the half way point for an awesome twist in the plot
skate 3 - tony hawk used to give me my skating fix when i wasnt riding my own deck, but skate came and blew it all away. this games was incredible and one fo the best games ever released. _________________

I hope people haven't forgotten that your favourite game of all time goes in the middle, because I'm judging you all by the game in the middle.

Yellow was king, bitches.
Also I'm in the Diablo 1 > Diablo 2 crowd. Don't get me wrong, D2 is amazing, but NOTHING comes close to the terror of being chased by the Butcher. Also King Leoric. _________________

Me no understand how a game that was so recently released can be in your top 9 of all time? Don't they need to stand the test of time to make that kind of list? They do for me. This pertains to all "favourite of all time" lists. Movies, music etc.
This goes for Portal 2 also. Mostly because it's so short... how long could you actually play this title for? Is the replay value great enough to get 100 hours out of it? 200 hours?
I put a ridiculous amount of hours in most of the games I chose... SMB3... NES Metroid... Super Mario Kart... games like this which were played over and over and over for YEARS, not just flavour of the month. *shrug*
Thoughts? Anyone? _________________

Alpha Protocol was awesome. But it got trashed something shocking.
For me, if i can play a game non-stop and replay it numerous times (like DAII), then it's worthy for my top games. Different strokes for different folks, i guess. _________________

I'm not saying they have to have played everything I like. I'm saying I don't understand how a game that came out so recently can be in someone's top 9 of all time list? Unless of course it is one of only 9 games they have ever played. Just trying to understand how other people judge favourites, is all.

I didn't necessarily put a ridiculous amount of hours into the games I chose (Hell I never actually owned GG X2, I've only played through Pop 2008 once and got the under 12 hours acheivment) instead I chose games that had the biggest impact on me. I may not have sunk hours into GG X2, but it's the first fighting game that got me hooked on fighters. PoP was quick to play through but a fucking amazing experience from start to finish etc.
Also is my picture not appearing anymore to anyone else? _________________
