|

|
|
| www.eurogamer.net wrote: | The game, set 17 years after Soulcalibur IV, features guest characters, Project Soul producer Hisaharu Tago told Christian Donlan for Eurogamer.
The main character is Patroklos, son of Sophitia. Patroklos is "inspired" by the gameplay of Sophitia, but is "sharper" and "more agile". He has new moves, but they're all inspired by Sophitia's.
V takes the Siegried ending of IV and builds upon it. Seigfried, now 39 years old, no longer wields the Soul Calibur sword.
V is described as a "generational shift", complete with new characters, but SCIV characters will return. "SC 1-4 was a continuous story," Tago said. "We want to make a generational shift with a new story this time."
The Soulcalibur series is famous for the inclusion of characters from other universes, such as Link from The Legend of Zelda and Yoda from Star Wars. Will other non-Soulcalibur characters feature?
"Difficult question," Tago said. "We will have guest characters as we did with Star Wars. Please stay tuned for more information on that."
V marks a shift from two-handed swords to short swords, Tago announced. The story includes "the enigma as to why the swords have become short swords".
The game's new fighting style is described as "lighter, sharper, and more elegant". The online mode has been improved with new features. "Gameplay in IV could be a little heavy, particularly when you were online – we wanted gameplay that was more fast and reactive," Tago said.
On the shift in gameplay: "Maybe the hardcore fans will be afraid that we lose the core of the gameplay, but that's not the case. And for new players it's nice to have gameplay that is more continuous – you don't need to wait as much between moves.
"There is quite some change in the gameplay from SCIV. The pace of the game has been improved, and the combos will be easier to perform, and the moves will be easier to pull out."
Elsewhere, Tago confirmed the create a character feature from previous games in the series returns, but refused to divulge details.
Namco Bandai is yet to show actual gameplay, but promised more information at E3 next month. |

I liked a lot about IV. I didn't like the online or character building stuff. Namco need to drop that element in home fighters, it's horrible.
I'd love to see SC go multi-terrain aka VF3 (?). I think that could work awesome for a weapon based fighter.
In anycase, I love SC and this has jumped to my 2nd most wanted fighting game (after AE!). _________________ Shin J Leon.

I really want it to go back to the style of SCII. Imo that is the best of the bunch.
Looking forward to seeing what they do. _________________

II was amazing.
III was rubbish.
IV was great (it was my first online fighting experience).
I'm not a fan of the title design for V but Patroklos looks alright. Sophitia's annoying sweeping attacks with her sword drove me crazy though.
Still, eagerly anticipating the return of Amy as she was my main. _________________

Respectfully disagree on IV being the best, by a long shot. Though I agree, tonnes of great fighters coming in. Crazy year for gaming. _________________

This looks mighty fine. My partner and I are Soul Calibur fans; mostly because it's one of the few games that she really gets into.
Looking forward to E3. _________________

II was the best gameplay wise. In V, all the girls boobs must be Ivy size. _________________

Whatever guest they have in this one, it better not be as damn hard as Starkiller in SCIV. I fucking HATED fighting that POS.
I honestly can't pick a favourite game. I have played 2-4 and I have really enjoyed them all.
I love Ivy's slutty clothes so any non slutty clothes wouldn't be used by me _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

Ivy was my special lady in II.
Can't say I went for Amy though in IV lookswise though, more 'I can poke you faster than anyone else' gameplay-wise instead. _________________

If Siegfried wields a 1-handed sword, all will be lost. It doesn't look like it from that pic, though.
Hope they get the story modes right. I didn't pick up IV, but the save-destroying bugs in III made it unplayable. I also hope they include a Teams Arcade mode.

Bleh don't like her clothes (not into pirates) and her hair looks horrible.
Characters like Sophitia have less revealing clothes than Ivy and honestly she doesn't look like she could kick ass. _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

Suddenly, there was a wailing among men and women.
Penises erupted like fire hydrants and women climaxed in quantities equivalent to the Niagara Falls.
It was time. _________________

I thought IV was brilliant but II is still hands down the best of the bunch.
I'm going to make sure that I pray to the Soul Calibur God's that they bring back Conquest Mode from II and improve on it. To date, it's been my favourite fighting game campaign mode.
Looking forward to this! _________________
