so I guess you didn't play much MK? Rule of thumb, ninjas are always the most popular characters. _________________

Yes they are very popular, but so is Kung Lao, Cyrax/Sector and Raiden..
During the first few days it was all smoke and scorp but now people are learning how to zone very well with kung lao and he has a very easy xray to hit, reminds me of the gouken throw to super except he hits it everytime he hatspins.
Be aware of people who use sheeva with a shotty connection. You can spam teleport stomp then uppercut.. It's very effective if it's not smooth. (pretty cheap if you ask most people). There is also a xray counter bug but that can be avoided by using a ranged attack.
I've played around 200 or so games over this past week and met very good players from MVC/SF4/T6. What i've done is add good players to friends who have good connections and have private king of the hill matches.
Also when you do go online, go to 'join room' and find the aussie/nz room, if there isn't one, create one. I haven't been able to get a ranked match to work properly. I get sick of waiting and join the aussie room and create either king of the hill or have some 1v1's untill friends come online.
Last night for example, there was around 20 ppl with 3 king of the hills and few 1v1's people in the AUSTNZ room. Was great fun and so far really enjoying this game.
I just hope they bring the patch sooner than later to fix the online lag and the bugs/tweaks required. _________________ XBL - myzz

Just wondering if there is a training type mode similar to SF4? Where they teach you the moves and some combos for each character?

Kinda. There's a tutorial mode where the game teaches you the basics such as doing target combos, x-ray attacks, and special moves and there's also a fatality tutorial section which shows you the correct area to stand to perform a fatality. However, there's no specific character specific training/trial mode like in SF4. There are some similar training exercises in Challenge Tower, but I really can't compare that to SF4's tutorial mode.
Honestly, the combo/juggle system has a lot of freedom and players can basically try to find combos/juggles they're most comfortable with. The best advice I can come up with is to find a basic juggle and try to expand on that. Find what you can fit in those single frames and keep going. _________________

Thanks shinhawk!
I played a little bit tonight and it was pretty damned fun. Got a bit beaten up by Kintaro and could not beat Shao Khan (only tried him twice).
Need to pass my brother this copy as he is dying to play it and I have just ordered another Xbox copy for myself. I think customs might beat me down as this is the 4th copy I have ordered.
Also just wondering if anyone has had any issues activating their online pass?

YESSS!!
Received my MK PS3 CE (PAL) from some guy in Hungary off eBay today!
Post pics up tonight. I admit though, the figurine is really bad quality and I can already tell just by a few glances and without having to open up for closer inspection. _________________

The lag varies so far. I'm come across some players were the input lag is nearly a second. Most I've come across is average between 3/10's to a half-second delay input lag.
Its not too great right now. Compared to SSF4 and MvC3, the online play doesn't match up, but I'd still say it played heck of a lot better than what KOFXII managed. Its like playing Tatsunoko vs. Capcom online. With that said though, while playing online, I struggle doing any of the insane juggles I learned offline. I basically have to input commands much earlier than usual (on top of having to already buffer commands in advance) to make to do something decent.
This is coming from someone who really doesn't really like playing fighting games online very much. I don't even like the slightest hint of lag in my fighting games. _________________

I've only played a few matches (against mostly NZ and AUS people) and it was alright.
But, I havent been able to play since as I ALWAYS get the error 'the game session is no longer available'. I dont know whats causing this as my connection is fine too. _________________

KL got nerfed big time, Kano and Bar got nice buffs, the d/f,2 roll has a nice recovery now and can't punish full combo
They didn't get rid of the Johnny cage xray bug yet, i guess they will fix that with a full patch. _________________ XBL - myzz

"I'm closing this thread due to a recent patch that resulted in nerfing Kung Lao's damage and combo potential. Congratulations to all the brats who cried for nerfs. I hope you all crawl back to whatever fighting game you came from once you realize that you still suck at this game and it had nothing to do with Kung Lao.
Learn to play."

They actually nerfed Kung Lao? I thought he was fine; just everyone was stupid enough to jump in on the guy who can SPIN YOU INTO THE AIR.
These nerfs bring back memories of StarCraft II nerfs in beta and post-launch. _________________

Oh and looks like Cyrax's bomb trap doesn't work anymore. That's definitely good as that thing is very difficult to escape. However, even without the bomb trap, Cyrax's damage hasn't been nerfed and a whiffed attack can still reset the damage off a ground net. Due to that, hes still able to do 69% damage with one bar. _________________

Ohh srs.. I hope they don't nerf it, it's pretty tricky, just need to stop the reset and scale the dmg.
I've been using kano for the last week or so, he is awesome fun now
Might give Barakka a bash this week too _________________ XBL - myzz
