Most of the time it's Center bounce->grab ball->handball->tackled->another bounce->repeat. Total frustration.
Also annoyed that the text on screen is virtually impossible to read on a CRT TV. |
yeah i find quick tap to the free player then im already holding square so as soon as he gets it hes banging it towards goal then it can be anything!
i think the whole excessive tackling would be a bit of a turn off for alot of people. i too would like to see it slowed down, or turbo/players speed having more of an effect. maybe marking bit like afl 2003 where its more of a skill rather than chance and whoever gets there first. but its a decent game and will take over my life for awhile

hahaha, but unfortunatly there isnt. just finished a full 20min quarter game, had 397 tackles to their 300 odd. compare that to 60-80 odd tackles in a proper afl match... |
Nearly 400 hundred tackles! Well that is completely insane, not to mention completely unrealistic.
I think I might wait for any news on a patch before parting with my money. I want to support this game and will buy it eventually but I'm picky with sports games.

How can you play online? The PSN is down, I'm dying.
Anyways I think the name pops up at the end. That's when I've noticed them.
I'm up to the Grand Final against Geelong, I beat them by 40 points before, but they are really really good in the GF, I DID lose, but I restarted because
1) During the game my Mum was being annoying walking in front of the game etc.
2) I WANT THAT TROPHY _________________

you cant, only way is to look after the game when the quarter by quarter score comes up - shoul be in the top left corner of the scoreboard or right depending which side your psn name is on

I'm really enjoying this game so far, much much more than I expected. The learning curve was pretty steep but I couldn't let myself drop the difficulty.
Last night I had a mate over and we played out a full premiership season undefeated and won the grand final against Western Bulldogs 30 to 24. It took from 8pm until 4am, and I'm certainly feeling the effects of it now, but I can't remember the last time a game kept me going for that long and was still exciting until the end.
Can't wait to see what they can bring out next. Hopefully an indepth stats system and a little more control over the players agile movements.

I agree with XtremeXfactor and Eyce.
I had a go this evening and got absolutely thumped by Richmond four times in a single game. I am playing on a CRT TV myself and can't get a decent camera angle. It's either too far away which makes it hard to distinguish what the hell is going on, or too close so you have no idea of where the ball will end up and in most cases your mark gets stolen from you as you just can't see what's happening to your leading player.
The handball thing is also another factor I can't get around. It rarely finds it's mark and by the time it does, your player is already halfway to the ground in a wrap up. Frustrating.
I am trying hard to like this game, really I am... but I ended up turning it off in frustration and playing some NBA Jam to make me happy again tonight. I don't know if it's worth bothering with until I get a larger TV as the resolution is just crap on a CRT.

I was reading on big footy from one of the devs that the budget for the entire game was the same as the menu system for fifa....good effort on that budget.....they are going to tweak it to be harder in the next patch (which is good because subbastard and i went from being the AI's bitch to tearing it apart in every game)
They are also hoping to have a full season with drafts and shit in the next game. _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

Played it yesterday. Quite liked it. I won my first game, Collingwood vs GCS ftw! Few games after that I got progressive better and started smashing the AI. Had a few games with my brother, seems like the best tactic is to just win the centre bounce and smash it forward.

That's the problem the ai has the most, once you work out the bounce, it never gets the ball _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

Instead of always running right after the ball when it's on the ground only to inevitably get tackled, I like to bump them on the way, which gives you some time to pick up the ball and get a clean disposal. _________________ I'd be apathetic, but I can't be arsed.

I am much better at the game than i was a few days ago, let alone this time last week. Keen on playing multiplayer, still trying to sort out connection issues though. Lounge room multiplayer has been great fun though.

I won 5 games in a row the other night while extremely drunk online.....
They are going to try and have a match making system in it so that quitters get matched with quitters, hoorah _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

multiplayer is basic, but good. i enjoy playing online even tho i dont have a mic. problem is though is disconnecters. hopefully now the game has been out for awhile people will be a bit better and wont leave once theyre 5 goals down. but i played 5 games (before psn was taken down) and 2 of them left at the start of the 2nd quarter once i was 10 goals up.
anyone whos interested in a game, once psn is/if it comes back up, add me- yeggless

yeah the quitters thing is being addressed hopefully.....you get a reliability rating (100 for me woo as i don't quit) and they are going to send people with poor reliability to the van.
The only other thing, the XP doesn't actually do anything, i was hoping to put my xp into my made up team, alas it was not to be. _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

Yeah it starts off really hard, everyone goes down that road .
Once you master the controls you'll be romping them. Except in Grand Finals, they really ramp the AI up there. _________________

use the right stick to bump opponents when going for the ball, especially in 2 on 1 situations - you will get more time and space that way
