EB are sellng as soon as stock arrives, woohoo. Dick Smith are selling it for $79.94 in today's catalogue so that's probably the best price matching option there is.

^ Same here. I feel like I'm missing a fundamental mechanic since the tutorial is less than adequate and I'm getting destroyed on the Rookie difficulty.
Edit: Just kicked a cool snap with Juddy though! Too bad I was something like 40 points down and it was the 1st quarter. _________________

Well I've trained myself and I can win on Rookie now
Not online though...
I got an amazing Torpedo from like 65m and got two trophies for it! And an awesome soccer/banana in the goals. Got 20% of the trophies already. _________________

I struggled to win a game for hours but recently I've been on a roll. I belted the Hawks by 70 odd points as payback for beating WCE last Saturday. Props to whoever can get the Legendary achievement/trophy legitimately. _________________

Totally just won my first online match, really pulled through and got 5 goals in the last quarter when I was down by 2 points!
My entire team had injuries though....Yet his were fine. This game can be very complex if you want it to be.
Anyways my impressions, they've done a very good job.
Once you get the hang of it, gameplay is great. It's good to be able to tell the difference between players this time and the commentary is actually tolerable. _________________

I've only played couch co-op with the wife... fuck, it's hard.
We teamed up against St Kilda as the Dogs... don't think Bazza got anywhere near it. Lost by 120.
Then tried being the Vics against Gold Coast. Only lost about 80 and managed to kick a handful.
Having said all that, I love the fact that an AFL game has finally thrown the gauntlet at me. It's good not hammering sides within the first couple of games I play.

If difficulty is a bit rough, don't make the same mistake I did, by default it's set to Rookie, but you can actually put it on Amateur which is lower than that. Should help train you up.
But they've really fixed the AI for sure. _________________

Yeah, I can pretty much make my own fun if the game challenges me. Can't see any 200-0 scores happening here (at least not in my favour)
Cheers on the difficulty - I thought Rookie was the easiest!

I don't get the point of handballing in this game. It rarely goes where you want it to go and the magnetic tackling means you may as well kick for distance and hope for a mark. Speaking of which, contesting a mark defensively is almost impossible. I've tried the LT+Y spoil but I've never actually landed one. Jostling for position seems to be completely random, as lot of the time my player either doesn't respond to the controls, or the opposition player will just take the mark anyway.
Gotta bump the difficulty down to Amateur. :'( _________________

Keep tapping Y to spoil. Handballing is still something I haven't quite mastered yet. It's really annoying when I want to handball to someone in the forward line and they have a clear shot at goal, only for the ball to miss him completely and trickle over the line for a rushed behind. _________________

When the opposition is marking, I move the right stick like crazy and it usually punches it out the way, I have saved my ass many times doing that, blocked so many goals.
As for hand-balling, I haven't had an issue, you just use the stick to aim towards who you want.
I am officially addicted too, stuck at Uni until 6 and all I want to do is play round 5 in my premiership season (currently on 10th place on the ladder on Rookie mode) and beat someone online .
I won against someone online 69 to 8, felt good. _________________

This is definitely pretty good, maybe too many tackles n ruck contests, but other than that I like.
First game on ameteur lost by a point, I took the lead late but couldn't hold on.
Then started a season, won the first game by over 100.. realised you can't change difficulty or match length in season, so just started now on rookie, up by a goal in the second quarter.
Might have to start a season on the next level up and cop a few bad losses early. _________________

So this is actually pretty good?
I play a lot of sports games like MLB the Show and NBA 2K, does this hold up as a simulation of the AFL? I don't expect perfection from such a niche game but I haven't met an AFL game that I've liked since AFL 98.
If you play a match in real time will you get realistic scores?

^ Does not compare to that calibre of sport simulation, don't expect anything close to that or you will be disappointed.
Basically from the 4 games I've played, this is far better than any of the games made in the last 10 years. players actually man up, spoils and marks are approx 50/50. there's not 3 million holding the ball free kicks, kicking works well.
I have only played on the two lowest levels, you won't get realistic scores playing that level. Don't know about the rest.
The stats counter is a bit weird, cos it seems to count a contested poessession even if the polayer is tackled and doesn't get a handball and tackle numbers are through the roof.
Essentially it's a big step up for AFL games, if you're not sure give it an EB rent? _________________

NBA 2K is in a league that these games won't come close to, but it's good for a footy game.
Played my first online game last night. Came from behind against a Hawks supporter and kept them scoreless in the last quarter. Awesome.
Definitely too many tackles in the game. Started a season with 10min quarters. First game had 400 tackles overall.
