Someone on the Big Footy forums calculated that Legendary will take...
20mins x 4 quarters a game (80mins)
= 22x 80min H&A rounds
+ 4x 80min finals games
= 31.2 hours not including the loading, cinematics, being crap at the game and having to replay saves, raging.

But I so want to do it! Hopefully playing rounds for 80 minutes isn't gonna be like the old ones where you have ridiculous scores of like 200-300.

But in my 12 minute quarters, I managed to win 30-0...Which seems realistic for 48 minutes.

I like the look of that trophy list. It looks challenging, yet achievable. If the AI is good, and not cheap, it will be an interesting challenge.

What's that you say? Do it playing with Gold Coast? Yes, I'm serious.

Well I've played 1830 games of Fifa10 online @ 12 mins each = 360 odd hours so um yeah, sounds pretty easy to me...

I am not 100% sure, but when I played there was an option for co-op, and I do believe that extends to the online play.

I could do this easily a few years ago, but in recent years.... i don't always go for realism in sports video games, i try to get as many games within 30-45 minutes as i can.

Even with the early Gran Turismo games i could sit for hours, doing multiple races (or string together a few endurance races one after the other) - yet with Gran Turismo 5, and Forza 2 + 3 on the Xbox 360..... i can only manage a few races (within 30-45 minutes) before its time for a break.

This has more to do with current day console hardware.... than anything else (such as my own health concerns icon_razz.gif).

With some yearly franchise games, i played early versions to death, but wouldn't play recent versions as much. I played Madden 2004 more than any other (save for Madden '93), i've owned 05 - 09 and 11. Would not have accumulated the same amount of time with 05 - 09 + 11, than i spent with Madden 04.

Other than Fifa 98 and 2000, i've spent the most time with Fifa 08 (and almost 09). Did not play '10 as much (although i made up for it before Fifa 11's release). Speaking of Fifa 11, i purchased it.... barely touched it though.

Even then though i used to squeeze in as many games with 2 minute halves as i could (of course i had to change to 4 minute halves, when they altered the time settings some years ago). I only ever did a full match length a handful of times, and particularly with Fifa... it's an experience i didn't want to repeat.

In summary, i prefer to play smaller match lengths in my sports games compared to the real time settings. Instead of playing 1 match over 2 hours, i could play several icon_biggrin.gif (albeit in 30-45 minute bursts).

I'm excited for this but the AI is going to make or break it. The older AFL games I've played had terrible AI and it was just far too easy to smash the CPU.

I think that's more because there are a lot more awesome games now, so the time we devote to each game is shrinking. Actually, this could all be a conspiracy to get us to buy more games.

Really looking forward to this. Gonna get this for the 360. Trying to find the cheapest place to get it from. Hopefully enough people buy the game so they keep making more and there is an active online community for more than a month after release. Looking forward to getting the legendary cheeve

The street date might break. I've seen posts on other forums about people getting the game already with pictures. I might poke my head into JB tomorrow and see if they have it.

Sorry mate, reworded my post so I don't get peoples hopes up too much, only to be chased by angry people wielding pitchforks. The street date might break, I've seen posts and photos of people with the game already. K-Mart and Target are being labelled as the 'culprits'.

Have a look on whirlpool and footy forums, I'm sure you'll find the relevant "I got teh game!!" posts and pics.

I got a copy of it today from K-Mart. If you're in WA ring around at Target and K-Mart to find it.

I haven't played it yet as I've had to do a few errands but will do shortly, I'll leave a few impressions of the game later.

It does seem that way.

A few impressions/notes:

- Game install size is a whopping 1.5gb, prepare to invest in a new hard drive.
- Commentary is bad, really lifeless. Sounds like everything was done in one take during their lunch break.
- Gameplay is good overall. The learning curve at least for me was steep. It's easy to get punished for carelessly playing on. The AI isn't a slouch on Rookie mode. The AI will tackle, spoil and kick effectively. Every now and then the AI sprays it out on the full but it certainly won't gift you wins. Unless I become a lot better at this game I won't even bother with the Legendary achievement.
- I don't think there's any way to practice set shots. There are two training modes. Competitive Training is essentially a scratch match, then there's Skills Training where you can really only practice passing and kicking for goal on the run.
- Everyone went to the Sydney Swans school of tackling.
- Holy Grail by Hunters and Collectors causes me to remain in the menu screen rather than progressing into the next match.

I think the game is good enough that I want to see what they can do with a bigger budget. If you're expecting a game to rival FIFA you're setting your standards far too high. If you're expecting a good AFL game that clearly has room for improvement, you'll more than likely feel satisfied.

Man, if you think 1.5gb is big....(assuming you got it on PS3) try the Yakuza series 5gb installs ;P.

Still, nice impressions. Good to hear the AI is challenging

Or the GT5 8GB install, at least it's optional though. Fallout 3 and NV were 6GB each.

I got it for the 360 and I have a 250GB elite so I don't ever run into issues with hard drive space. Even with my 60GB launch PS3 I just delete old installations to free up space when need be. I was taking the piss with the 1.5GB install, most of my games on 360 are 6GB+.

I might sneak in a few more games later but I need to work on an essay.

From what I've heard the release has been broken all over WA, hopefully that stems through to Victoria tomorrow. I've already pre-ordered with EB so I don't have the luxury of phoning around but I'll more than likely give that store a few calls tomorrow.

EB are apparently contacting Big Ant to see if it is ok to release it early like the stores in WA and even TAS I believe. Unfortunately I pre ordered with GAME due to their $98 price so who knows when I'll get it icon_razz.gif.

I ordered the ps3 version online through Dick Smith as it was cheap, don't know when i will see it though, going by my last order through them (GT 5 - again because it was the cheapest price), it came a day after the release date. Wasn't too concerned at that time as i wasn't itching to play it.... I am anticipating the same thing to happen with AFL Live - only this time it won't come a day after the release date, but several thanks to the Easter long weekend. My fingers are crossed that they decide to send it tomorrow, so i can get it before good friday icon_biggrin.gif.

With that being said, i hope to buy the xbox 360 version in store... don't like my chances if the street date breaks before thursday pretty likely to happen, considering WA and Tasmanian retail stores (mostly Target) have been selling the game over the weekend.

Further to that point, i know others will be happy to have purchased the game a few days early ($99 at Target), but from this Thursday - the game will be $89 at Target (during the next catalog period).

***Edited***

Dick Smith have sent the game off to me icon_biggrin.gif
