Hello there!
I'm bored, poor and own a PS3, PS2 and a low quality PC.
Suggest me a good, mainly single player game that costs under 50 bucks, takes a while to complete and is addictive.
I currently own Fallout 3, Farcry 2, all the CODs, GTAs, most C&Cs, Starcraft 1, Civ 4, LBP1, Mercenaries 1&2, MGS4, Burnouts 3 & Paradise, FIFA 10, PES 09 and Football Manager 11
I mainly play FPS, Action/Adventures, football games and RTS Games but am open to a new type of game if it is strongly recommended.
PS. Downloads are a no-no, my internet isn't good enough
I appreciate any help.
Thanks, Ken _________________

I suggest...
- Red Faction: Guerrilla
Tonnes of destructive fun. Big game with loads to do if repetitive. I like to dub this game the true next-gen bomberman game.
- Just Cause 2
The biggest (?) open world game out where you can literally go to what you can see after the introductory/training stages. You'll be hard pressed to cover the map in a week. It can get repetitive much like Red Faction but it breed familiarity. Its nice to know that with a single icon on the map that you know exactly what you need to do. _________________

Action/Adventure? I say Enslaved: Odyssey To The West. _________________

Uncharted 2 if you haven't already. You can polish it off in 7-8 hours though. So it isn't very high on the replayability list unless you want to play it on higher difficulties/collect all the medals. _________________

SAINTS ROW 2
This game is basically what would have happend if Rockstar had carried on in the direction that San Andraes was going for GTA 4. It's absolutley insane. Crazy customisation, insane missions (That range from hijacking a septic truck to shoot shit over stuff you don't like, running infront of trafic to fake insurance claims, riding a flaming moped around a race course were youg et more time for the more stuff you set on fire etc)
Decent story, the gameplay fixes up a lot of the problems with GTA 4 (Run is a button instead of button mashing, mid mission checkpoints etc) And is basically the most fun you'll have on the current gen consoles. _________________

Action/Adventure? Go get Demon's Souls
RTS? Starcraft 2 or Sins of the Solar Empire
I'll suggest Civ 5 too since you listed Civ 4 =) _________________

I second Ad on Enslaved, one of only a few recent games where I actually felt involved in the story. All round great game marred by a few technical issues (mainly when the camera gets stuck behind a wall/in a corner when in combat)
Check out Infamous too, pretty damn good story and presentation, can find it preowned everywhere for about 30 bucks. _________________

I second that recommendation of Infamous, it's an excellent action game with a good story. Various super-powered moves keep the gameplay just fresh enough to keep you going. _________________

While telling you some of my favourites that i would recommend, i will try to avoid repeating some listed before (they are listed again though if they are must get)
- Starcraft 2
- Company of Heroes
- Red Dead Redemption
- Assassin's Creed 2 and/or Brotherhood
All of the above have some great SP time to them and mainly fit to your genres.
However, i can't not post this list without saying Mass Effect 2. While it is technically an RPG, it has very basic mechanics and doesn't require a deep understanding of RPGs, with being more of a third-person shooter then anything else. Great SP with about 50 hours of a complete playthrough and plenty of replay value with multiple playthroughs, you can't go wrong with it. Most recommended.

As with some of the other recommendations above,
Assassins creed 2 (I don't think Brotherhood is under $50 yet?) - takes around 15+ hours to complete
Uncharted 1 and 2 (should be around $29-$39 each?) - probably takes around 8-10 hours each to complete

I have a few recommendations you might like.
Uncharted 1 & 2 (you could probably pick up both for $50 or close to it)
Heavy Rain (only about 10-11 hours, but a fantastic experience)
Mass Effect 2 (epic and awesome 30+ hour action RPG)
All of those offer fantastic, story driven single player campaigns and are some of the best games this gen. _________________

I'd recomend against Enslaved.
Don't get me wrong it's a great game and deffintly worth the play, but you were asking for something that would last you a while and you finishg that game in one sitting. _________________

That really depends on how much you play it/whether you try to collect everything. Personally, it took me a few sittings to finish it, and then I went back through it all to grab some colletables that I missed. _________________

I think I finished it in two sittings. It's one of those games that you just get wrapped up in the story and don't want to put down. If I hadn't had to work the next day I probbably would have finished it in a single sitting.
It's one of my fave games but deffintly not something I would say is long. _________________

I dunno why but I can't get into Enslaved. It just seems tedious and I'm only up to where they get to the crane (metal tower?). Been forcing myself to play a chapter every few days to get my $20 worth ;D _________________

If you could stretch your budget by $9.99, ozgameshop have the PS3 Limited Edition of Crysis 2 for $59.99
It's the current 'must have' title if you like your FPS games, and $60 is great value... can't go wrong!

Thanks for the replies everyone.
Always been a big fan of Red Faction, so I'll definately look into the third one.
Just Cause 2 looks similar to Mercenaries which I really enjoyed, so I'll definately look deeper into that too. Also, I felt a little disenchanted with GTA IV, it was boring and generally not fun. My mate had Saints Row 2, so I might ask him for his experiences with it. I can also 'borrow' Infamous, Unchartered 2 and AC2 from my friends too , wanted to buy them, but they seem to be low on gametime so I'd rather not spend $50 for 15 hours or so. I've already borrowed Red Dead, and I loved it. I still think it's a 100 bucks though.
I'd really like a new RTS game, kinda looked into Spore cos the idea appealed to me but apparently it's quite shallow and repetitive. Sins of a Solar Empire seems interesting, but I'm not sure what the specs requirements are like for it. I can run Sims 3 on the lowest settings, would this be enough for Solar Empire? Really want Starcraft 2, like really. But I don't think my computer can play it.
As for Borderlands and Mass Effect 2. Really good ideas, I'm not sure how long either last, but I know they're both excellent games that I have practically no idea about. Will certainly look into these.
Also looked into God of War III, but I don't know how long this lasts.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Was kind of stuck thinking 'there's nothing out there'. But now I've asked you guys, I've suddenly been opened to an entire library of choice.
Thanks!! _________________

Sins it pretty lenient on hardware, it's little space ships flying around with not much else. My old Athlon 3200 ran it fine in high and it was like 5 years old =)

not sure if JRPGs are your thing or not... but I've put 140 hours into Star Ocean Last Hope and had a great time with it. I think you can get it less than $30 online now. I'll have to second Mass Effect 2, there is a lot of content in it. _________________
