Burnout Paradise was the best game in the series? It went open world because arcade racing got boring, and they pulled it off with ease. _________________

The only fault with Paradise city was the lack of split-screen. I thought it was the best in the series bar Burnout 3. _________________

How is the crash mode in the other Burnout games different to Paradise?
I've not played the earlier Burnouts but I found Paradise's crash mode tedious and awkward (motion controls!). It was basically just lurching between cars and hoping that they kept appearing at the right times. It took like 5 minutes to get a decent score and one screw up meant starting again from scratch =( _________________

Burnout 2 had the best crash mode. No stupid multipliers, no silly physics, you get one chance to dodge and hit the right car the right way and send a bus off a mountain.

While I appreciate the Burnout 2 love, it totally had retardo physics and exploitable multiplies. Each Bus you hit added to the multiplier, and you could get the larger vehicles (specifically busses, trucks) jiggling and buoncing around with the buggy physics for massive points.
But it didn't have multiplier pickups and such, which is what I'm pretty sure you're talking about. I'm just in B2 junkie pedant mode =)
@Grim-one: The Crash mode in Burnout 2 was set around rpedefined stretches of track (taken from the existing tracks), with a set configuration of stationary vehicles at one point(s), and ambiant (moving) traffic. Once you crashed into a vehicle, it'd go into slow mo and all the resulting chaos would be tallied. Like so:
On that note, I really enjoyed Crash mode in Paradise - especially after a few, and with someone to pass the controller to for competitive action. It was ludicrous, but in a really good way. _________________

Holy crap. Did not see this coming. Hopefully the reason they played it so safe with Hot Pursuit was so they could go all out for this one. I'd hate to see another super safe effort from Criterion. I'd still buy the game, as a long time Burnout fan, but I'd be seriously disapointed.

Paradise blows - if I wanted to drive around aimlessly I'd do it in real life. After 2 hours I felt like I was driving around in circles on the same god damn roads.
Burnout 2 was good but 3 (XBox NOT PS2) was the pinnacle of the series. It's been downhill since then.

Can someone explain what the FIX did in Paradise ? I bought Paradise only about 1 month ago and had to update before I played so I don't know what it was like before.
What did this magical patch do ?

I loved Paradise, though they needed some better signposting when racing high-speed, it was too easy to miss a turn-off because the indicator came on too late.
I'll be annoyed if this doesn't have split screen, which, judging by all of Criterion's current-gen efforts, means I will be annoyed =/
I liked NFS Hot Pursuit but there were waaay too many time trials. They're fun every once in a while, but it felt like I was doing one every second race, and the time penalties for hitting traffic positioned behind a crest or around a blind corner gave me the ****s
*EDIT*
Also, I think the introduction of certain weather effects was highly detrimental to Paradise. Fog in a game where I want to admire (and make use of) the excellent draw distance? Whose idea was that? _________________ My Photos
