Have you tried changing the intensity? Many people have reported feeling ill with it set to maximum. _________________

I find it much easier to lose focus and start seeing the 'rolling' and other artifacts at maxmimum, but just a little bit down works a treat. I still wonder how fully I can see the effect as compared to most other people, but I found a vague 'sweet spot' to hold the bugger at and it looks pretty natty. Although damn man, this is going to take some getting used to! I have spent so many hours with GBA and DS(es) just holding them at any old angle while playing - now I need to hold the blasted thing dead still, dead on or suffer loss of focus/efect. Oh well!
Yeah, still hardly spent any time with it. I think my colleagues ha ve spent as much time with my 3DS as I have (I nearly typed 'unit' there, thought better of it...), but I've not suffered any noteworthy dramas yet. I noticed a little eyestrain, but not much - that said I haven't been able to sit down and have a real play session yet, so I guess we'll see!
All in all, not as Earth shatteringly amazing an effect as I silently, subconsciously hyped myself up to expect - but it sure is cool!
Really looking forward to seeing what good devs push this little beasty to do with some time and knowlege under their belts. _________________

I've come to the conclusion that the 3D is awesome, but it has to be in spurts. Too long and it can get annoying. I'm having more fun just playing the games than getting lost within the 3D hype. Street Fighter is awesome and Ghost Recon is better than I hoped it would be. Also picked up Ridge Racer, good arcade blast from the past.
I think the one thing that's made me go 'wow' so far is the augmented reality. I love how it adapts everything around you so easily. They really need to push that along more than the 3D side, personally, maybe through the Nintendo Club which they seem to be pushing a little more with this console release, give away a few new cards.

Im fully sold on the 3D. Its really cool in short bursts. I have always had trouble playing handhelds for long epic games due to their size but this actually fits in my hands pretty good with the new slider pad making all the difference. The 3D effect is cool to pick up and play with for an hour or so and the games I got are good for that too (RR and SSFIV).
Face Raiders is HILARIOUS. That one really won over the GF and got me out of trouble for buying one with two games. _________________

Finished work last night and went for a stroll around the shops (about 7pm). EB had stock left so I got caught up in the hype of a new console launch and just bought it (with SSF4) on the spot (even though I had lost most of my early enthusiasm for it).
So far I'm on the fence.
The 3D is pretty good but nothing special (keep in mind I have had a 3D TV and 3D camera for a while now).
The big thing for me is the viewing angle needs to be 100% perfect. This may be a killer for me. No lying down playing, no slight movements of your hands while holding the console... because it not only ruins the effect but makes the layers a visible mess.
I'll have to sit down with it tonight after work to see if I can adjust. _________________ My YouTube game videos!

Anyone notice a colour difference on the back of their 3DS?
I bought an Aqua Blue one, and on the back there is a difference in the shade towards the bottom where it looks almost paler/whiter than the top.
Is this an effect of the paintwork that goes from darker at the top to lighter at the bottom on the back of the 3DS?
Can anyone verify this? I'll have to look at another one to compare. _________________ Your student has become my teacher.

Yeah, that's how they are - slight gradient on the top. Cosmos black is kind of dark metallic grey going to black at the front. _________________

^ Yeah, that's about right. Edit: Ninjad!
I'm trying to train my eyes to get used to the 3D. Played some Rabbids and some Ridge Racer while sitting perfectly still, with 3D on max. Kinda feel like if it's not on max then I'll be missing out on something... which is silly with a 2D platformer, but according to reviews Ridge Racer has some of the best use of 3D so far. It did look pretty good (and it's a lot of fun too).
Tried taking some photos, probably in not very good light, but they seem very grainy. I'm not expecting top tier quality here, in fact I didn't know what to expect, but yeah, kinda grainy. And only viewable on the 3DS itself, so not sure how much I will be using it.
That said, after the system update, the 3D video looked pretty amazing! Was well impressed by that. Good hint of what might be possible down the track, though I doubt I'll be watching any movies or anything on it (too small a screen).
AR is fun, Face Raiders is fun, the Friend List is poor...
Put the 3DS in sleep mode today and brought it into work. Only walked from car to train and train to work and have already got maximum play coins for the day (10, just over 1000 steps). Maximum allowed in total is 300. Guess I can unlock some new AR modes. Oh, and was on a crowded train (from about 7:20am - 7:45am) with school kids and all, and not a single Street Pass notification! Boo! _________________

I have the 3D at about 40%. I'll give it a better run on weekend to see if I am one of those unlucky ppl. SSFIV is a great port but I am struggling with the controls. Graphics are nice. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Ease in the 3D if you're having trouble. Start lower, and once you feel comfortable with that setting crank it a little higher.
It wont be instant for a lot of people and will take some getting used to. I know some people who had Japanese systems and were struggling with max 3D when they first got it, but slowly increasing it over a week or so they're now comfortable with max. _________________

Having put more time with it I have to say the 3D is not very good!
Its impressive! Very good is an understatement IMO!
It really is much better than I anticipated!
My eyes gotten used to it. No more strains, but still wont be playing it in long spells!
I only have PES2011 and the graphics are superb! Really is next gen compared to the DS. The full 3D effects are best experienced with the default player camera. You feel like you are on the pitch! The ball sometimes feels like it will hit you especially after a shot from the COM. The replays and player details are sublime!
Only problem is that the player cam isn't the best gameplay wise. The standard wide cam is the best just as in previous PES games. You can still see the 3D effect but not as much as player cam.
I barely played any DS games that used the standard controls. Played stylus requiring games almost all the time so getting used to the controls! Controls just like console but still need getting used to.
The 3D doesn't feel like a gimmick or tacked on at all which is impressive considering this is a launch title! The 3D does add to the feel of the game!
3D feature Ninty pulled it off well!

This. I had a look at the Mii Quest and Puzzle mode thing in Mii Plaza on the train this morning, after setting my Mii Street Pass business up - really want to get into the quest game and earn some mo'fuggen Mii hats! Alas, I went through Melb Cent and on to work in sleep mode, not a single damned StreetPass hit.
Give it time, most people probably haven't even set that up yet let alone are walkin' around with it. _________________

The screen quality is a bit of a joke compared with modern phones though. If you compare the iPhone 4 against the 3DS screen, it's really really bad.
It is better then the PSP though. _________________ Shin J Leon.

I was thinking about going into EB here on Chapel St in my lunch break... see if that does anything for Mr. Aqua.

I picked up some guys mii through the streetpass yesterday, but he can't be used on the quest thing I went to the puzzle thing first so maybe when you get a mii you can only use them once for either the puzzle or the quest.
I'm loving street fighter online. _________________

Since my 3DS arrived I've had a decent platy around with it and I'm quite impressed. The console has a nice feel to it (though it's the devil of all fingerprint magnets) and I like the design a lot more than I thought I would. The stylus position it awful though, I don't think they could have fount a less convenient placement for it. It shouldn't be to problematic most of the time but if you're playing something where you use the stylus only occasionally it could get frustrating.
As for the 3D itself, it's quite nice but the 'sweet spot' takes some getting used to. As it has been mentioned any slight rotation to the left or right has the potential to throw you from that sweet spot. Though I have found some situations are more sensitive than others, i.e. sitting in the menu of Rabbids the 3D is quite sensitive but the actual game play seems to have more lenience. Whether this is done by design or simply an accidental gameplay element I don't suppose I'll ever know for sure. It could even be the simple fact that once gameplay starts my concentration on the 3D effect itself drops and I'm more forgiving with the slight movements. _________________

Rabbids is pretty solid. Im surprised. It's nothing special and is basically a by the books platformer. Has some framerate issues too. But otherwise it's solid in its platforming mechanics, has lots of stuff to collect, you can dress up your rabbid, and is one of the more visually impressive titles out. Looks good in 3D too.
On another note, I just want to say I'm having way too much fun with face raiders. _________________

Is there going to be any way they can improve the viewing angle at all? I'm not getting one yet, but not being able to lie down sounds annoying, and I mostly play on public transport which would also involve it moving around. _________________

+1 for Rabbids, ManeKast. Mentioned it briefly in one of my earlier posts, but that was related to the 3D. Basically what Jarrod said. Worth checking out for sure.

It's really not that bad. I was basically sitting upright, as you would on PT, and held it against my legs and could see it fine. It's definitely not bad enough to be a dealbreaker. Don't let viewing angle stop you from buying it. You could try it out first, I guess. _________________

I'll definitely be trying it out before I buy, but I think I'll still wait for a hardware revision as I planned, since none of the launch titles are must-plays for me and I have more than enough DS backlog to last me _________________
