Yeah there stuff doesn't really suit at all either. The last thing I'd think of for Lovecraft is loud. His stories are all about quiet dread.

Try this one Benza. Perfect I reckon.

Metal I cant wait to purchase:

Children of Bodom : Restless Dead Forever (is that the name?)

Amon Amarth "Surtur Rising"

Both look awesome.

Tours: Morbid Angel in May (best death metal band ever, was a die hard fan in the early 90s! even saw them once in Bris in 1996).

Oh yeah soundwave sucked, Bris, oversold too hot and the timetable clashes were terrible. Slayer played on a crappy overcrowded stage and is the ONLY Slayer show out of SEVEN I have been to I did not like. Least they played. Dimmu was cool/too hot. Maiden was cool though too much new material and beer was WAY overprices ($8 a midstrength, LORD). 5/10. Put it on in WINTER or SPRING/AUGUST and dont oversell it! was too packed.

Oversold? It's the first one they've sold out and they double the size of the grounds to boot (and massively increased the size of the stage Slayer played on). And on top of that, the timetable clashes I found was because I was trying to see too many bands throughout the day (first time I've ever had to buy sideshow tickets because a festival had too many bands I wanted to see).

Oversold was the Sydney Big Day Out back in the day when they fit 60,000 in the year Limp Bizkit played. Brisbane Soundwave was nothing like that.

Haha I went to that gig in 1996 at the Arena also. I only really like Blessed and Altars though. Also in 1992 on the Blessed tour at Metropolis. Cannot for the life of me find the tour shirt from 1992. I dug it because it had a double headed Kangaroo with a pentagram.

Mane, click my link above. Perfect spooky tune.

So The Haunted's new album is out on friday. I cannot wait to pick it up!

When I first heard the album, I was fairly indifferent towards it, it seemed like they had tried to recreate the sound of The Dead Eye, which was an amazing album, but kinda.. failed.

After a few listens it really grew on me though, I'm really digging it now. Cannot wait to see them in may icon_biggrin.gif

Glad to see there's plenty of Kevin Sharp representation here. Anyone catch him do that tour singing for Damaged?

My vote for (not in any order):
i. Pig Destroyer
ii. Agoraphobic Nosebleed
iii. Fucked Up
iv. Bloodduster
v. Alchemist

Prowler in the yard, Do not spit = winners.
I love the first 2 Bloodduster records, before they became too rock and less grind. Brutal Truth are great also. I still have the original pressing of Alchemist's Jar of Kingdom. Fetid tells me that even the band doesn't have it anymore.

EPIC. SOmeone that actually went to that gig? The one in Surfers Paradise in the early 90s I was too yourng but I did see that shirt and heaps of photos (at the then named, metal invasion store, in surfers paradise cavill ave). DId not check this thread for a while, awesome.

Yes Altars (on Vinyl Signed) and Blessed are my all times followed by Covenant and Domination (where the slime live!).

SO youll be at the show?

Edit: Jar of Kingdom, still have the original pressing of that as well. Jogged my memory as I forgot about that band.

Yeah Mane, from memory Morbid played on Friday or Saturday in Brisbane then 2 shows at the Playroom on Sunday. I used to have a tape of the Sunday matinee show.

I was trying to remember some of the old big metal gigs I've seen back in the olden days, off the top of my head lets see...

Metallica - Black album tour 1993
Kyuss - Blues for the red sun tour 1993
Morbid Angel - Blessed tour 1992
Carcass - Heartwork tour 1993
Fear Factory - Soul of a new Machine tour 1993
Fear Factory - Demanufacture tour 1995/6?
Machine Head 1994/5 - Burn My eyes tour
Sepultura - Chaos AD tour 1996 perhaps
Suicidal Tendencies - Art of rebeliion tour 1994/5?
White Zombie - 1995?
Morbid Angel - Covenant tour 1996

Hmm probably a few more but I killed those brain cells.
Fetid, you've got some oldies right?

New albums on the horizon/out now that I'm keen to listen to:
Benighted - Asylum Cave - Good grind
Obscura - Omnivium - Super tech metal
Believer - Transhuman - Once were jazzy tech, now are plain odd
Tesseract - One - Djenty metal, Meshuggah style with clean and dirty vox

Saw As I Lay Dying on the weekend. Unfortunately they were only a support band for Disturbed and only played for about 40 minutes. It was short lived but that 40 min was full of head banging goodness! icon_biggrin.gif

I really hope the next time they come to Aus they have a concert of there own. They are a totally awesome fast heavy metal band. The closest popular band I can think of that there music is like is Slayer. If you like Slayer or similar get on the boat.
