People shouldn't really be surprised about this sort of thing. The most popular games are going to be remade and remade with every new console generation. Think about all the movies that never made the transition from VHS to DVD that literally nobody will ever see ever again; right now that percentage is an awful lot higher for videogames. Until we get to the point where backwards compatibility is a given for new generations of consoles and we reach the limit of graphical upgrades that can be applied to older games these remakes are the best option.
There are a few games from older generations that I'd like to play but I never do because I don't want to spent the half hour digging out the old console, finding all the cables and controllers and memory cards, unmounting my TV from the wall to plug it in and then hoping all the individual pieces still work. If I can buy a version of that game that'll work on the stuff I have now and maybe looks better than the original, sign me up.
The ideal situation would be that it'd be cheaper than a full priced new game, but this is Capcom so some concessions have to be made. _________________

If they add Move control I may be tempted (don't have kinect yet). I agree it was a really good game but the PS2 controls were a bit clunky. Haven't tried the Wii variant.

I loved RE 4 but I've still got my GC disc sitting around and my Wii hooked up to my TV, so I'm not sure if I want to grab this or not. _________________

No RE4 then no Gears of War, Batman Arkham, Mass Effect 2, Dead Space!
These are some of the top games that have utilised RE4's revolutionary over the shoulder view!
RE4 is the best game of last gen and one of the greatest of all time! Buying this for sure!

Weren't games like Max Payne doing that before RE anyway? All it really did was move the camera in a bit so you couldn't see your legs.
Honestly I think the greatest thing about RE 4 wasn't so much that they did the over the shoulder thing, it was that they did the over the shoulder thing in such a massive game first. Usually this stuff starts off in tiny games no one ever plays then gets picked up by the big franchises (See: Cover system and Gears of War) _________________

So, it looks like these two games will be released via PSN store and XBLA as downloadable titles.
In other Res Evil news, details of an entirely new (and entirely different) RE game have emerged:
| Quote: | | The new May issue of Official Xbox Magazine has revealed the first details on Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. Developed by Slant Six, the team once responsible for SOCOM, the new game appears to be a significant departure for the franchise from its survival/horror roots. Instead, players adopt the roles of a team of Umbrella operatives seeking to cover up evidence of the virus outbreak in 1998. |

This will seem very odd seeing as I have no problem playing games like GTA but personally I don't want to play a RE where I kill survivors. _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

Yeah, maybe the team goes rogue, or there are some interesting moral choices to make. Should be interesting...

RE4 was absolutely incredible. Don't know how much of "Help me Leon" I can handle though. Looking very forward to a HD version.
IMO RE2 needs a HD re-release. To me, it was the purest RE experience out of the bunch. I'll never forget the sleepless nights I had after encountering the lickers for the first time. After that, I use to be scared of looking outside the windows on a wet, thundery night. _________________

I would love a HD RE2 because it was basically my first entry game into not only the RE series but the horror genre.I did play a few horror games before that but that was many years before (probably around 10 years) and they were only games I played sometimes when I went to to a friends house. _________________ Welcome to the internet.
