I thought it was a crime in any state? I'm not too up to date with the legalities though.

I think selling RC material is illegal in most (all?) states.

At least in WA though, just being in possession of the RC material is also a crime.

Really? What's the likeliness of customs picking up on a package from amazon then?

When was the last time you received mail with the "opened by customs" stamp or sticker on it? =P

I'm not to phased with having to import the game. I currently have it all paid for at ozgameshop.

What gets me is since the regular joe can't go down to Jb or Eb to pick up the game, online play with be a disaster with only a handfull of loyal fans picking it up..

Don't get me wrong, i know there will still be aussies playing, but I can see it being very hard to find a game without lag when u feel like jumping on saturday morning for a quick game.. (compared to other fighting games T6/SF4 etc).

if that makes any sense.

People who have placed orders with ozgameshop might want to follow that up. They've recently placed a ban like Play-Asia on shipments of Mortal Kombat to Australia.

You can't even pre-order off their website anymore.

http://www.ozgameshop.com/ps3-games/mortal-kombat-game-ps3
http://www.ozgameshop.com/xbox-360-games/mortal-kombat-game-xbox-360

I do know mightyape.com.au are still taking pre-orders from Australia.
They even have the Tournament Edition for pre-order - the one that comes with the joystick.

I did get an email from ozgameshop just as they banned it.

Quote:

Hi Nathan,

As you may be aware, the Australian Classification Board have taken the decision to ban Mortal Kombat from sale in Australia. And we have now taken the decision to stop selling the game on our website.

As you have pre-ordered the game with us, we are willing to ship the game to you. However, please be aware that your parcel may be intercepted by Australian customs.

If you would prefer to have your order refunded, please contact customer services.

Many thanks,
The team at ozgameshop.com

PS, there's still some great games coming out soon...

^ Wow that's pretty cool of them, offering you the choice. I guess as they're really a UK company so they're not at risk of being fined.

Pre-ordered my copy from 365games. Bought from them before and they are pretty good!

35 quid with free shipping! Awesome!

At the end of the day the Aussie retailer is the loser from this whole fiasco as fans will just import - ironically which is cheaper than buying local anyway!

Imported GTA4 uncut version soon after its release and customs didn't confiscate it!

Been constantly checking the US PSN store to see if its been updated, can't wait to try out the demo!

Anyone played the demo yet?

I gave it a twirl before. Fatalities and X-ray attacks are pretty cool. I've never played a MK game before, it seemed a bit too 'heavy' for my liking compared to Tekken (which is the fighter I'ved had the most experience with).

Downloaded demo from US PSN store.

Very surprised and happy the file size was much smaller than expected only 500MB.

Played for a couple of hours, and still too early to have a definite verdict but won't be cancelling my pre-order after what I have experienced so far!

Like previous MK game slow paced, but this is the slowest paced MK game since MKII I feel.

Whats new to the series - Super meters like in SF (3 of them), which fill up only by attacking unlike SF which is both attacking and taking damage. However they fill up pretty quickly. Scorpion for example his familiar spear. He can do a fire spear that uses one super bar. In essence work like EX moves in SF.

3 full bars means you can do X-ray move by pressing two buttons simultaneously. Takes about half of opponent's health.

Two punch and kick buttons - one ach for back and front attacks.

Once again combos are chained in a particular order. Scorpion has a three hit combo by pressing square (front punch) 3 times. However wont - work with triangle (back punch). Just like the old MK games. So meaning have to memorise various combos.

Input window a bit smaller than recent MK games. Honestly still getting to grips with it. So far enjoying game, Personal let down is not changing combo chaining system. Having to memorise square, triangle, circle and the various combinations was something I thought they would change.

The banning of the game is ridiculous. Not as gory as I thought. X ray moves so over the top it ain't even gory but almost comical. Fatalities a bit more gory but still seen worse.

See, i would do the same thing....but the risk is too high in my opinion. The fine given if caught is ridiculous.

All i can think of is to wait and see if WB submit an edited version then just import then. Since by then, customs won't care about it and won't really be able to tell if it's a RC version or not >_>

But yeah, such a tough decision, i want me those bookend/statues..... and the game of course >.<

I played some of the demo this morning, 1 hour in I switched back to MvC3. Reports are coming in that the demo build is an older version of the game, so I'll wait for the full game to come out.

1 hour is a lot of playtime for a demo. And what difference does it make if it is an old build? MK is still MK.

Different engine tweaks and stuff, feels kinda clunky, I'm assuming they'd make it more fluid or something. As for the replayability, you could play this demo all day long.
