On impulse, I bought Ferrari the Race Experience from the Playstation Store. It's the sequel to Ferrari Challenge by System 3. Apart from a Eurogamer review, I wasn't really able to find too much info on the game, so I thought I'd share some in-depth initial impressions in case anyone from here was thinking of getting it...
The controls. You know how some people will take a simple task, and they'll go about it in an unusual manner, unlike how they've seen everyone else do it? And they think their way is brilliant, and everybody should do it their way? One of those people came up with the controls for this game. Apparently, System 3 thought it would be a great idea to not use the face buttons for gear changes in any of the configurations.
I've decided to go with the stick-shift (config A) and it just feels weird. With config B, I think R/L2 would be too mushy for gear changes, and I'd prefer to use the triggers as brake/accelerate. Config C, I'd have to use the controller as designed, with four fingers on the shoulder buttons/triggers, which just doesn't feel natural to me with the tiny little dualshock3.
I hope I can get used to the stick-shift. The controls are a basic element in a racing game that developers really need to get right if they want there game to be enjoyable. More options were needed here.
As for the rest of the game, you get 33 rides to choose from, ranging from the 1957 250 Testa Rossa to the 2009 458 Italia. There are the usual arcade modes, career and multiplayer (no split-screen... LAN or online only). You'll race in one of three classes; GT Race, Road GT and Classic. When racing in career mode, there's no restart race option, which is a bit silly I think. If I really want to restart, I'll just quit out of the game, restart it and load from the last autosave. System 3 aren't stopping me from restarting, they're just making me hate them a bit more than I already did thanks to the retarded controls.
Thankfully, when playing with the assists turned off the actual driving model is pretty good (handling reminds me of Ferrari F355 Challenge on Dreamcast). The graphics, apart from the occasional hiccup in an otherwise smooth framerate, are about what you'd expect. There are some nice subtle reflections going on in the window from the interior cam, and smoke from the tires of other cars is surprisingly impressive. Environments are nothing special, but overall it looks pretty good.
The music is generic (I turned the in-game music off) and the engine sounds are a bit average.
It's unfortunate about the controls in this game, the lack of options really are a detriment to what is an otherwise fine racing sim. As it is, the game is still not bad value ($23). If you like your serious racing games, and you could see yourself comfortably using one of the above configurations, or if you have a wheel, I'd say Ferrari the Race Experience would probably be worthy of a purchase.

As most others, I’m playing Dragon Age 2 on PC (steam)
I’m a few hours in, looks amazing on ‘high’ dx11, still bummed I can't get it to work on very high dx11 without it artifacting/glitching but enough on that (bitched about it in the da2 thread lolz)
Game itself is very good so far, no complaints on the gameplay, has already surpassed my expectations. I can't wait to see how the story unfolds.
I decided to give the warrior a bash. I’m going with the 2 hander at the moment, and really enjoying my pre-order bonus from steam. It’s a beast of a sword
First impressions, great game!!!! _________________ XBL - myzz

I started playing Dragon Age: Origins again last night. I got stuck the first time I tried and gave up about a year ago. But all the press for the sequel has reignited my interest.
Started as a female Elf mage. I don't play RPGs that often and I've never played as a mage before (or a female for that matter!) so this should be interesting. Only played for an hour or so, so am still in the midst of the origin story, but hopefully I can stick with it this time and not get stuck in an impossibly hard dungeon again!
I also started playing Stacking. Wow. What a game! So simple and charming, yet so deep and so there is just so much to do and to collect. I can see myself spending a lot of time with this one! _________________

Just started GTA4 on Xbox 360
Ugh. I'm so used to Chinatown Wars and Liberty City Stories, it's SO confusing. Only done the opening mission but the camera is annoying. Fighting also isn't that fun. Going to have to spend a long time on this one. _________________ Now playing: Tales of Vesperia, Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Metroid Prime: Hunters.

Nah I'm playing on 360 unfortunately. I'm just a lamo when it comes to RPGs. I have started my new game on easy, but I don't know how much of a difference that will make as I assume my first attempt would have been on easy also. _________________

Started playing Dead Space this weekend after an awesome run on Mass Effect 2 (plating the suicide mission when you're stoned feels epic!). Started from the start again last night, as the tutorial doesn't fill you in on node rooms and crushing boxes for ammo.
Also grabbed the Tank suit and Heavy Hitter DLC packs, which have actually made the game so much easier. Switching to a harder difficulty tonight. _________________

Rogues with the right talents and high cunning over dexterity are killer in DA:O - once you get an enemy stunlocked, it's all over. Just spec out Alistair (or another tank) with a good shield and all the aggro gaining talents and you can just backstab like crazy. I finished my DA:O playthrough with a party consisting the majority of the time of Alistair, Wynne, Morrigan, my human rogue. Wynne would just heal everyone, Morrigan and my rogue would do DPS and Alistair would just tank everything. I would put Shale in if I got into a tough spot or pull part of a mob with a bow to make the encounter easier.
Just make sure you're constantly switching to give people health pots because even if you set it out in their tactics they don't really seem to do it (from my experience anyway).
Shale is great too because once you level up her auras, she's a great support character - one aura does increased health, mana, and stamina regeneration while also increasing attack speed. _________________

Dragon Age made easy. Spec Allister as tank. Get Wynne. Master storm of the century for mobs. Get Mana Clash for mages. Crushing Prism for bosses.

I'm finding that I'm forcing myself to play Dragon Age 2... that's never a good sign. The good looks and runs horrible... I don't know what Bioware have been doing to push this mess out the door.

Ninja Blade on 360.
Grabbed it for $15 or so a while back.
It's no Ninja Gaiden but it's still a lot of fun and great value!
Pretty much boss fight after boss fight with non-stop action from the beginning and a heap of QTE's. Really nice visuals too. _________________ My YouTube game videos!

PC. It was crashing until I upgraded my 5850 to the 11.2 drivers. It runs 'a bit' better now, but generally still like ass (compared to other games that is). Origins ran silky smooth on this PC so I don't know what's going on with DA2. I could sit back and whine all day about DA2, but I'll spare you my Nanny Fine ranting.

Been playing torchlight on 360.....best arcade game on live that i have played.....finished the main story over the weekend, but still smashing my way through the shadow vault.
Highly recommended for anyone that hasn't got the pc version, and even then i found it more fun to play with controller than mouse. Feels very arcadey, like an awesome version of gauntlet. _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

^^ Does the PC version suppor 360 controller for windows? (torchlight)
Playing Crysis on my couch with mouse/kb (got a lazyboy) on my 46 G10 Plasma and holy crap, its gonna be hrd to go back to consoles this game is truly gogeous and pretty fun. 22 hours in on the boat chapter now and its been a hell of a ride. Took some mucking around getting it to work properly (and relearning PC grahics settings all over again) but its ben worth it. Just wish my lappy could run it at 1080p with VSYNC on (it can but when the framerate drops below 30 I get 24fps which is really unplayable) anyway, great FPS if a little repetitive in parts.
The Witcher also owns my life. Best RPG I played this gen, easy. _________________
