Sounds like the FBI is going to be pretty central to the story. I'm thinking one of the first two FBI agents might be the player character. Probably Miguel?

Although there is mention of an "Albert" in the descriptions who isn't listed.

For some reason I recently started playing GTA IV again, and you know what? It's a f****** good game. F*** all you hipster douche bags who think it's cool to hate on things that are popular; I hope Rush is GTA V, and even if it's a carbon copy of IV in a new city I'll like it just as much.

It is a good game. Many were disappointed (me included) that they switched directions so dramatically.

It's like if an arcade racing game became a sim. It's still a good game but the thing that made you like it is gone.

Grand Theft Auto IV is the greatest game ever made and I completely understand if you disagree... but you're wrong.

I did a poo once that was a striking resemblance to Niko's cousin Roman, and then the poo asked me to go bowling and see big American titties.

True story.

I loved GTA4, and to counterpoint most others, i really couldn't really get into Saint's Row 2 (i never played the first), it just wasn't focussed enough.

but i'll be the first to admit GTA4 wasn't perfect. the side activities in GTA4 did annoy me after a while too, mostly when i was trying to get through the story, but had to keep people happy in between each mission, or on the way to a mission which was at the other end of the city to whomever just called me.

i guess it wasn't so much that they kept calling - it was just that if you declined, you'd lose favour. if they can get that balance sorted, it'd be sweet.

i didn't mind the car physics though - another common complaint about it.

if anything, i'd almost be a little worried that Rockstar might devolve back to the style of Saint's Row - but then i think of Red Dead Redemption, and it seems unlikely.

bring it on!

I thought the car physics were good too. The motorcycle physics though are just ridiculous, and I really hope they improve with the next game. The bikes are the one area where I think the previous games were a little better.

Oh, and with your friends calling, you can put your phone on silent which stops them calling altogether, so you don't fall out of favour with them. So annoying when they call all the time, it's like having facebook chat turned on.

Simon and Albert then as the new Nico and Roman? Seem like oddly 'regular' names for GTA. I think it's a bit of a shame it's set in LA, since we've had that vibe so many times now; though by the character list it looks like it might be more of an adventure in suburbia, which would be good.

I didn't play the first one for 2 reasons.

One was that I had no way of playing it and the other was I had 0 interest in it.It looked like annoying gang banger wannabe crap.

I also had 0 interest in SR2 until I saw trailers.Once I saw trailers I was very excited for the game and had to play it.

That's exactly what I want.If they keep GTA as it is then the franchise is dead to me.

I'm not saying they have to (I have SR for my old school style GTA fix now) but if they do I would be very happy.

I think they should make make both GTAIV stle GTA and SR2/GTAIII etc style GTA's.I mean it's not like they have shortages of companies.I mean there's like 4 or 5 different Rockstar companies.

Half the fans seem to be GTAIV style fans and half seem to be the old school GTA fans.

I know a few people like me that have very little to no interest in GTA anymore.

I've played both Saints Row games, i couldn't get into either of them long enough (due to being irritated with the structure of the missions) to finish either of them.

I thought GTA IV was alright, both in terms of story and gameplay, however i found that once i had finished the storyline missions - there was not much value left in the game. Whereas because of the crazy style of Vice City (and San Andreas to an extent, although i didn't stuff around in SA save for the parachute icon_razz.gif) - i played and played and played it to death once the storyline was finished. Granted a lot of it was seeing how long i could stay on the run after gaining a full wanted level. GTA IV while it was still possible to stay alive for a fair while, it just wasn't as fun or exciting to do.

I preferred the style of Vice City (Miami) to San Andreas but any GTA is good IMO.
I wonder if Rockstar will utilise the assets created for LA Noire but update them to the modern era?

As long as they get rid of the annoying phone calls to go bowling, play darts etc especially during missions so the character didn't like you as much when you said no to them I will be happy to play this if it indeed is GTAV. Though I'm more anticipating SR3, I'll still pick this up on launch.

One of the biggest problems I had with GTA 4 (And it was the same problem in RDR) was that it introduces you to all these incredibly interesting well acted and just fun characters, then by about half way through the game completely ditches them for a bunch of generic mafia dudes. Brucie, Packie, Little Jaccob were all fantastic characters, but by the end of the game doing missions for the mafia, fuck I could barley remember who was who by then. I just didn't give two fucks about any of them and wanted to go back to pulling jobs with Brucie and Packie.

When Niko (automatically) says no while on a mission, it doesn't effect how much they like you. For the rest of the time, as I mentioned earlier, you can put your phone on silent.

Isn't that just like previous GTA games though? You gain access to new areas and characters the further you play?

For me, the greatness of a GTA is defined by how much fun I can have just mucking around in the city - and I just didn't have all that much in 4. My main gripe was that the driving physics were all too awful to have any fun just cruising around town (plus the pop-up was awful when you did start cruising around, all of a sudden there would be a tree or something), but, really, all of it felt somehow off. Hell, even when you banged on the cheats they weren't as fun as the equivalent ones in the earlier games.

GTA 4 was actually my first 3D GTA (owned a cube last gen) the whole having new characters thing would have been fine if the new characters were as interesting as the other ones, but they weren't.

If GTA 4 and RDR are anything to go by, it seems like Rockstar blow there load early on interesting characters then just drop them for boring generic who gives a fucks later.

Yeah well, if they didn't include the obligatory mafia boss, and just stuck with the first group of characters for the whole game, a bunch of fans probably would've been in an uproar about that too.

As the saying goes, you can only please some of the people half of the time.
