Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone knew if the Panasonic 3DO was ever sold in Australia?

I saw one flash up on ebay today and it sold within seconds, but there seem to be quite alot of PAL ones for sale on ebay.UK so i'm thinking maybee they were only ever released in Europe?

Here's some info on them:

Has anyone ever played one, and what were your impressions?

Cheers.

Well, it does plug into the future.

Believe it or not, I currently own one of those little beauties [sic] but the library is shocking. The only real recommendable buys are Gex, The Need for Speed and Super Street Fighter II Turbo [easily the strongest port]. And if they did sell in AUS, they'd have probably gone for around 750-900 bucks (700 USD).

Hmmm. Return Fire is probably the only really memorable title that pops into my head. I have both Goldstar and Panasonic 3DO, own about twenty or so titles...

And yeah, I think unless you're a diehard retro enthusiast you won't get much quality gaming action out of it!

Of that introductory CD era I'd recommend the PC-Engine and MegaCD over 3DO any day.

I also used to have a Panasonic 3DO, I think mine was American, but it could also have been from the UK, I can't really remember. The only real hassle is making sure you have the right voltage convertor so you don't blow it when you plug it in as the games are region free anyways (except a few Japanese ones due to something about the kanji in the game code or something).

Only really worth getting for the oddity factor though, nearly every notable game it had was multi-platform or got ported later.

Thanks for the responses guys icon_smile.gif

I only recently heard about the 3DO when Panasonic announced it's new handheld gaming console coming out, but it appears as if that has now been scrapped too icon_confused.gif
