I can kinda see the improvements, at least all the characters have different faces! _________________

Not really surprised.
Looks about as good visually as the Rugby League Live. _________________

I dunno, I like Bugdust, they're a pretty cool band.
Also my friend tells me his band is gonna have one of their songs in this game... still not gonna be enough to make me get this game, but I'm still excited for them. _________________

If only they could generate the sales to create a bigger budget AFL game. The sad fact is that they won't sell enough copies in Australia for an Aussie rules game to have the budget of an EA sports or 2K sports title, and therefore when we compare them, they'll never be as good. I'm most likely going to buy this, because we still need to support the franchise if we ever want a decent AFL game again, but until our national sport gains a large international following, we will never have another awesome AFL game.
Here's Hoping it's at least relatively bug free, and includes GWS. I can see it includes GCS, but I'd hate to see it with 17 sides.

Unfortunately we have the head producer on the Bigfooty forums so I have to be nice about the game over there.
Over here though....
Graphics-wise it doesn't look too flash but then again that is to be expected. Animations are also kinda 'jerky'.
Game has been in development for about 2 years and Big Ant are aiming for an 18 month release schedule for the game (ie: April then September following year then April following year etc) to give themselves time to implement what they want in newer versions. They (Big Ant) are expecting a loss on this iteration of the game but are said to be in for the long run (ie: engine-wise and character models/styles had to built from the ground up for this version but for future ones they can just update/add whatever is neccessary).
Not sure If I'll get it, I might depending on reviews and whatnot. _________________

I don't see how they could implement a good footy game. The two best sporting games (in my opinion) soccer and basketball are about positioning and satisfying finishes and while AFL does have those things I can't see a way for a game to include those things the way the AFL handle them.

I don't mind that they're remixing the Sega Rally soundtrack for this blockbuster. Especially when they've managed to push such impressive graphics out of the Dreamcast!

I was under the impression it's a financial play on the AFL's behalf. They stand to make more money and get a bigger slice of the take by using the little local companies as they have a lot better bargaining power. They would stand to make a lot less money (per unit) going with a company like EA or 2K sports and that's probably the furthest they look into the matter. No consideration for the potential growth of the product and maybe tapping international markets if a high-quality game is produced by a larger globally known company.
As for the trailer, very underwhelming but I'm just glad to see something! Whoever is handling the PR work is pre-occupied or horrible at their job, practically no updates and no officially released images in the 4 years of production - only to release this trailer within weeks of the release.
All of that aside, I really can't wait for this game to come out. This is probably the most I have ever anticipated a game's release and am badly craving the current player lists. I had to give up on AFL Premiership 2007 over a year ago because I couldn't squeeze a current starting 22 out of my team's list anymore and playing against teams where the players are long out of the game is a bit of a kill-joy too.
No expectations on the quality of this title because I'll play the hell out of it anyway!
