Lol I do that every time. He's just in the way of a convenient shortcut.
I didn't bother running past the dragon (can you even do that? his flame breath hits hard), I stocked up on about 200 heavy arrows and sniped him. After about 50% HP he flies away and then you gotta get past him again except he's spewing flames all the way down these set of stairs. If you saved Biorr then he can distract the dragon for you which is a lot more helpful. Honestly I would kill the blue dragon because the boss of that chapter is really hard and you'll have to run past him again if you die.
I'm also onto my second NG+. I had to summon blue phantoms because it was just too hard for me to solo. I reckon the next NG+ will be a bit easier because I've leveled up a bit now.

It is. I played the demo from the Japanese PSN Store last month and I really liked it. It's a very dynamic puzzle game, with great story and music, plus it looks really good to boot! I just love the game's style, and you don't have much time to get bored with the puzzles as you're constantly running for your life. Seriously though, the cutscenes in the game are gorgeous! You get a very nice sample in the demo. _________________

I'm gonna have to give it a shot but that would require me to set up my Xbox 360 which I have no desk space for... Is it possible to create a Japanese PSN account to download the demo? There's no region locking or anything?

It's a fairly simple process, there's no region locking at all. I have three different region accounts. Here's a guide. _________________

Playing Nier atm, it's pretty dam good, not as bad as most reviewers make it out to be. However the graphics are horribly uninspired, dont know what the art directors where thinking. Got a feeling the games going to have an awesomely good twist at the end.
Also replaying ff7 again and thinking of playing Soul Nomad & the World Eaters which i acquired a little while ago

For length, I think it was around 15-20 hours long, but I can't remember exactly. I thought the story was really good, and Gig is a great character. _________________

You might still be able to get the key.

actually wrong guy, the guy who did was bjorr or something like that, who dropped an entire set of armour which i had to throw out all my grass and arrows to pick up. Just rescued him in 1-1, so i'll just clear out 1-2 and 1-3 for him now.
edit: ok got the key, good thing there are 2 sets of rune sword and rune shield in the game. I just firestormed Ostrava's black phantom off the edge and his loot is just floating down there -_- _________________

So I'm working out what RPGs I need to pick up for the PS3. I have White Knight Chronicles, Atelier Rorona and Demon's Souls so far but that's it.
I'm a bit on the fence about Valkyria Chronicles. I know a lot of people rave about it but what is it exactly? I see gameplay videos and I can't help but think that it reminds me of Advance Wars and Fire Emblem, is it like these games at all?
Also there's Cross Edge and Trinity Universe which I haven't really heard much about, are these worth picking up? Oh and Disgaea 3, is that as good as the other Disgaea games?
Am I missing any other RPGs on the PS3? I've already got Star Ocean 4, Eternal Sonata and Nier on the 360.

Valkyria Chronicles = a SRPG where... mmm bit hard to explain but there's a free demo on PSN, just give it a try first if you are not sure =)
*checks his PS3 game cabinet*
you are missing:
Agarest Generations of War <- cheap at ozgameshop atm
Folklore <- get this from ozgameshop fast as it's a *** to find here now
Last Rebellion <- probably not worth buying, I just wanted to complete my collection, I'll get to it eventually
Trinity Soul of Z'oll
Yakuza 3 <- is this an RPG???
Resonance of Fate <- on xbox 360 as well _________________

Personally, I really enjoyed both Cross Edge and Trinity Universe. Cross Edge is a bit of an acquired taste though as it's a little basic and it helps if you know most of the characters. Trinity Universe is much more accessible, and has a slightly more reputable cast of characters. The two games share largely the exact same battle system, Trinity Universe just makes it fully 3D and adds a few new tricks. The recently released Hyperdimension Neptunia game seems to be the next link in the chain, featuring what appears to be a modified version of Trinity's battle system. Character wise, there's no relation to the other two games though.
As for Valkyria Chronicles, it does have some similarities to the games you mentioned. However, instead of choosing a square on the map for each of your units to move to, you zoom in and take full control of them yourself. You literally play as them for a set period of time, and the controls become more akin to those of a third person shooter. You run around freely, and then aim and fire until that unit's time is up. When the time is up, that unit's turn ends, and you move onto the next one until all have been moved. Once you've moved all of yours, it is your opponent's turn. As you might imagine, this makes playing the game a bit more time consuming than something like Advance Wars, but the extra layer of control over your units is well worth it.
Folklore is a great title to pick up. The story is good, and the gameplay is an interesting bit of action RPG goodness. Also, there's some cool use of the motion sensing in the Sixaxis/DualShock PS3 controller. Some nice art direction, too. Last Rebellion isn't worth picking up (well, maybe for $10), but Disgaea 3 certainly is if you liked the other two! I wouldn't say it's quite as good as 1 and 2, but it's still a very good SRPG regardless.
Some people (including myself) see Yakuza 3 as an RPG. If you don't have that, it's definitely worth a look! Also, in the multiplatform area, Alpha Protocol is a good RPG. Don't bother with Agarest, it's pretty bad. Same goes for Resonance of Fate.
Edit: Sorry Oropher, but Resonance just didn't do anything for me. It was good for the first 5 or so hours, but I was sick of it after that. The battles get so tedious! I'm certainly not the only one who feels it's not such a good game. _________________

Resonance of Fate is NOT bad, the story just doesn't make any sense =P
Agarest is a lot of anime fanservice I think, so I don't think it'd appeal to girls as much (not stereotyping here).
Edit: It's okay Ad, just presenting an opposing opinion =P _________________

Unfortunately there are only about three RPGs on the PS3 I'd actually say were worth buying unless you are really prepared to look over some big issues. Thank god for portables.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I totally forgot about Resonance of Fate but I've already got that on the 360 and finished it. I guess we're the only ones that liked it Oropher .
Valkyria Chronicles has moved onto the must buy list, the way you described it sounds pretty awesome admeister. Advance Wars is one of my favorite game series of all time so it should be just my thing and the artstyle in VC looks great.
I already have Yakuza 3 but I wasn't sure if to class it as an RPG. I'll also keep an eye out for Agarest, it seems pretty exciting .

I wish people would stop saying Resonance of Fate should be avoided. :/ I consider it a good game and enjoyed it thoroughly.
That said, I have to admit I won't go all the way out to recommend it here as I know it does has things which might not suit the general western rpg players. But this doesn't mean it is a bad game and should be advised to be avoided at all costs. _________________ 「貧乳はステータスだ!希少価値だ!」 - 泉 こなた

Tales of Graces F will probably be worth owning once it gets localised. I recently purchased a PS3 and the only RPGs I own for it (or any games for that matter) are VC and Nier (picked up at the same time as the PS3).
PS3 - $372
Nier - $25
Huntsman spider attack on the way to the store, priceless.
Thing is, if I was a real Tales fan I should be ranting right now about how I totally just bought a PS3 just for ToGF and it still isn't out yet and we've know about it for like weeks and it's just a stupid Wii port anyway and that's it, I'm going to boycott everything NB and Tales until they make a personal apology to me.

I've played it, which is why I warned Pagan not to get it. Was a total waste of money for me. The graphics are terrible (I looked at the back of the cover and hoped they'd be better in-game, not the case), the battles are really basic, and what I saw of the story was pretty weak. I only lasted a few hours before I just lost all interest. It's a really low quality game. _________________

Apparently Agarest is a really long game though. Like you live out 5 generations of children and each generation takes 20 hours according to a friend of mine. Also there is no trophies for our PAL version.
Seems like Radiata Historia has been getting lots of positive reviews - editor's choice etc, here is one of them: http://www.rpgfan.com/reviews/Radiant_Historia/index.html
Anyway, I just bought the Hyperdimension Neptunia Premium edition because I want the artbook, I plan to rebuy a PAL copy for the DLC. So I'll be selling my copy of this NTSC one for $42 if anyone is interested ($11 cheaper than PAL copy on ozgameshop) =P _________________
