No I agree. It's not the epic piece that is SFIV. But it's certainly a welcome distraction in the fighting road.

I'm finding I'm enjoying it a lot more as I *get* the system.

To get out of being trapped in the opposite corner you can super jump from one side of the screen to the other.

Also, is anyone finding they can't block anything? My blocking game in SFIV was pretty good from what I remember, cross ups included. It might be the pace or the flashy colours but everything my opponents throw at me seems to connect XD

It can be tricky to block. Lows mids and highs can come from all over the place so you really need to be switched on to block it all effectively.

Also, try advancing guards to push people away. Helps a lot when people are throwing everything at you.

It's not precision fighting. When I say that, it's designed around you MAKING a mistake and giving your opponent an in. SFIV is a much slower, refined game. You wait for a mistake and punish. THis game is about rushing in and creating opportunities to go nuts. But that's why we love it, it's over the top.

I do love some of the comeback videos with Phenoix. So very cool. It seems like a lot of good players are using her as the ace in the hole once they get to 5 bars.

Anybody on tonight? I'll be on after the Swans match for some online goodness.

Do Mission Mode, familiarise yourself with your characters, base your team on how well they work together and spend time in practice mode learning the ins and outs. Also, it's good on read up on the Shoryuken Forums on character strategies, and perhaps you may like to purchase the BradyGuide, which is the best fighting game guide ever released to date.

A tip easier than ZeroX's one:

Just be cheap!

Play on SIMPLE mode. And spam "Triangle".
Use projectile character only for massive cheapness.
Mixup Deadpool's projectiles making them guess.
Use Taskmaster's arrow projetiles for speed.
Use Magneto's shooty thing for speed and coverage!

Sure it is annoying and cheap... but most "better" players will have a way to overcome this. Everyone else else will be so pissed off and gamer rage.

Mission mode is awful. It has one or two specials and then a bunch of team combos. Then the list of moves is off the page. What the hell Capcom.

Was doing mission mode and it had moves for superskrull that I needed to do that arn't even listed in his move list. It got verry confusing.

Mission mode may or may not be awful (I think it's annoying more than anything), but hot damn it's freaking difficult.

Hmm the game is tonnes of fun and there's great variety in the playstyles of each character but it just doesn't ignite me as much as MvC2 did. It could be the damage dealt is way too much (I know you can adjust this, but basing it off normal) or the airborne game is slowed and reduced. The assists can be spammed so much too since the recharge time is so quick.

I'm still preferring Tatsunoko vs Capcom due to it's tighter feel and the Baroque system is a lot better and fairer than MvC3's X-Factor system. Plus a preference over the Tatsunoko characters over the Marvel ones.

And what the heck is with Galactus. Those hyper ultra beam and final smash he does is just ridiculous but he is easy once you figure it out. The silver duo fight is what really kills you in the long run.

Seems to me Sentiel is a must have in your team. He is powerful and has a tonne of health. He just seems like the best character to me.

Currently I'm training around Taskmaster, Sentiel and Zero.

Pain, I'm keen for some games tonight. A word of warning though as I haven't been home much so I have not been practicing at all. Scrub-city.

The online isn't as super active like the Street Fighter 4 community.

Makes trophy whoring tough and tedious!

I think I had enough of it now. 73% percent trophies for the game is sufficient to me.

The MVC3 Signature Guide is apparently awesome!

These are direct links to PDFs for both Wolverine and Ryu. Some great presentation and combo breakdowns in there.

Gah. I'm not that great at this and am pretty much a beginner at it (I was fairly mediocre at MvsC2 as well)I'm currently hating people who create "beginners unite!" lobbies when they're obviously not beginners and start beating everyone quite easily. Quite discouraging really.

Online portion is pretty crap. Capcom really should have copy and pasted SFIV's online model and everybody would have been happy.

Things wrong with it:

1) Auto game searching. Not needed in player vs player games. If they are worried about people avoiding players (ala SFIV) then make the username blank and show the connection. Also auto-creating lobbies is not great either. You should be able to always host to ensure a good connection.

2) Time to find a game seems pretty hit and miss. This is probably due to the auto-game finding. I can't believe the poluation is low for this game. It has to be the searching engine. In SSFIV even now it takes about 1 minutes at most to find a game.

3) If you can't find a game it boots you back to the main screen. This is not particuarly nice. How did this ever get into a retail copy?

4) Can't believe 2+ lobbies can't watch the match. It's not usable atm, nobdoy wants to sit there and *chat*. I don't really care about replays, but this is a real sin. Seriosuly, they would have been off making it 2 player lobbies only until the patch it.

Netcode seems about the same as SFIV. I've had mainly lag free battles, with a couple of laggy. The difference is you have no idea about the connection before you start a fight so there is no way to avoid yellows or below.

Played 5 ranked matches this arvo and won them all. There are a lot of scrubs getting around. It seems the most common ploy atm is to pick 3 characters with full screen attack and sit there and spam. Thankfully I've evolved my skills to punish the living crap out of these players now.

I've just been sticking to training with arcade interupts on for multiplayer, avoid all that shit for finding random matches.
It kind of sucks that you have to go back and choose your team again after each time you leave an online match though.

The cheap shit I've been seeing is choosing a charecter with a full screen beam attack (Like Magneto, Doom etc) with a charecter with a vertical beam assist (Dante, Dom) and spamming them both at the same time. Irriating as hell. But after you take down there beam charecter it's pretty easy to destroy the rest of there team.

My MvC3 guide will be arriving tomorrow, can't wait for the awesomeness within.

Avoiding projectile heavy characters is a breeze for Zero, using his command dash, and for Dante, using his teleport which ALWAYS makes him end up behind the character. Keep it in style!

Getting the 5 wins in a row on ranked trophy was so easy, the players were absolute rubbish, all I did was use Zero's Sogenmu then spam Hadangeki(Projectile). They ate it every time. tearrss
