Does anyone know if Windows lets you have multiple External Hard drives all running on Windows automated backup program? I'm considering getting a second External drive JUST for photos.... ?

Hey guys, I noticed today that the little top screen and the main screen are giving me a completely different light meter reading than the light meter inside the viewfinder... Usually when the viewfinder is correctly exposed. The screens lie say its completely overexposed.

Have I knocked a setting or something or is something wrong?

Got my 7D yesterday

Haven't been able to go out and get any shots yet, it arrived just before work yesterday, I finished at 9 and was craving a walk to my favourite nearby area by the airport where birds reside for some crop body 400mm high speed continuous action shots to prepare for the airshow and get to know the camera, however it's pissing down rain today and doesn't look like letting up

I like the transparent LCD focusing screen, and the way the AF Points work is great. You can either do Auto AF over the whole image, Point AF across 19 points, or Area AF where you choose a handful of AF points to monitor, the last of which will really come in handy for my tracking shots at Avalon.

Liveview now has it's own little activation switch instead of the push button of the 5D II, and a button on the switch is a shortcut to video recording. The extra recording modes, in particular 720p60 are a nice addition. 60 fps video seems unbelievably smooth, as I'm used to shooting at 24p, being able to slow the 60fps down to 24p should produce some interesting slow mo too.

I paid $1499.

I can do a size comparison if you want, the 7D is roughly the size of the 5D II, with a battery grip attached it would be bulky but without it is quite small.

Hoping the weather improves a bit today so I can put it to the test

alex, so that brings you up to 3 bodies now? haha.

In reply to the size, its similar to all semi pro bodies, a bit more of a curved feel. A 1D is roughly the same size, bit bigger when compared to a 7D gripped.

Just wondering if anybody has had any experience with those 2x/3x tele-converter's you see one eBay and what your thoughts are on the quality they have, are they worth the $100-$200+?

i'm also on the market for a wide angle lens, was wondering if anybody has used any of these lens and could tell me what they thought of them or maybe recommend something else, keeping in mind i have a pentax K-x i am also new to SLR and my budget for this lens is $500-$800

The Sigma 10-20mm is popular.

But you're shooting Pentax, and Pentax prime lenses are the best in the business. What you really want is the 15mm Limited lens. It's about $500 if you get it from the US (Adorama or B&H Photo), or double that if you buy it in Aus.

it depends what you want really... at 15mm you will get A LOT less distortion on the edges of your picture... it depends if you want rounded horizons or not.

All the wide angles are pretty sharp although I think you should also consider the Tamrom 10-24 wide angle lens, I hear its the sharpest of all the 10-XX lenses.

That being said, at 15mm you could easily just do panoramic stitches if you wanted to go wider.

Apparently this is cheap.

I recently got a sigma 10-20 from my friends as a 22nd present where everyone chipped in and my gf paid the rest.

Its a pretty sweet lens but when you've been used to shooting with a 35mm 1.8, going to something with 4-5.6 calls for a different shooting style.

So was mine, from DigitalRev.

I usually stick to CamerasDirect, Aussie based, great service, and good prices, overnight delivery usually too, imports still, but any repairs go straight back to them in QLD, no need to ship internationally.

DigitalRev was just cheaper though, unfortunately, they lagged a bit sending it out due to chinese new year, and though phone support was good, once it was sent, it took 18 hours from pick up to arrival in adelaide airport, then 36 hours in Customs due to putting my name in the declaration as my email address, so it got held until I called to chase it up.
