So they gave a sequel the green light and then dropped it because the original didn't make enough money...? Sounds like a dodgy translation.
I don't remember Mirror's Edge 2 being formally announced and I never expected them to make a sequel so I'm not too surprised. Still a shame though. _________________

This gets canned while Medal of Honor is about to be green-lit for a sequel.
There is no justice in gaming. _________________

It deserved to die. Great idea but the original was a prototype, not a full game. But from what I have heard I expect they will begin working on 2 after BF3.

They likely wanted to give it another shot, and have had DICE work on an internal demo with whatever changes they've suggested, and then decided after seeing it that it wasn't good enough.
It wouldn't be the first time a game has been canned late. That True Crime game Activision canned was, as far as I'm aware, very far in development. _________________

was a good game that could have been great if a sequel was given a chance. Best is one of the reasons it was not made was cause it has no online. Really? EA need to realise multiplayer is not needed for every game. activision and EA will only make fps in a years time _________________

The idea was there but the overall game was terrible.
If it was a great game then why can't places like GAME move it for $8? Last time I was in my local GAME, there was like 10+ copies of the 360 version of Mirrors Edge for $8 and they had been there for a few months by then.... _________________

This is such a shame, I actually really loved Mirror's Edge and was very good at it with little practise. I don't know why everyone said the controls were bad and found the game frustrating, mastering them was part of the challenge and once you had its really rewarding... and its a very immersing game. I would have loved to see a sequel with a longer and better story. _________________

God damn it.
No wonder I've felt shit lately. I know it was never formally announced, just passing comments, but i really wanted this. wanted to see where they could take it, what kind of game could evolve from the first.
Hope its not dead, just on life support. _________________

This needs an update to the misleading title. Dice are working on BF3 full pelt. There's still a small team working in mirror's edge. So delayed, not cancelled. And even then it was never officially announced.

i never shot in the game and it worked fine. A game not being able to sell does not mean that it is not good. Just Dance sells more than every other wii game does not mean no more heroes which is sitting in the corner not being bought is a worst game _________________

I wonder if they also gauged response from this via the ipad game/interest there.
ME got a console/pc release. Didn't hit.
Got an ipad release (admittedly very different). don't know if its a hit.
I personally didn't really love ME myself (which means I bought it). THe premise is interesting, visuals were alright but I can see why it tanked. I played about 4 levels and never went back to it.
In terms of pakouring, isn't someone doing a scifi shooter game where you point the cursor up/down and the lead character in the FPS title will slide down, jump over balustrades etc. I think that's your ME replacement there and EA knows it - its also very much further down in development because I saw that last year. _________________

BIG SAD FACE.
This was an excellent game with a lot of potential. What a shame.

I kind of expected this. All my friends who play games but don't go to forums/read gaming news never even heard of it.
A decent game, just didn't like how the game makes it so hard to not use a gun and how it was short game, I paid full price for this too _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

It's Brink, I don't think it would really sate peoples mirrors edge cravings though since it's more of a team fortress 2 style game. _________________

Agreed, well done Bev
It's a real shame to see this canned. I think the first game needed some refinements and polish but I still felt the parkhour element was fresh and could've been expanded on for a great sequel, kind of how the sequels of Assassin's Creed upped the ante significantly after being given a chance to improve. _________________

Damnit guys. It's just not being made RIGHT THIS SECOND. Wait until BF3 is done.
EA source (and not a hokey translation);
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/14/mirrors-edge-2-rejected-by-ea/
[Update 3:05pm:Ă¯Â»Â¿An EA spokesperson got back to us with this: "Mirror's Edge is an important franchise built by the DICE studio in Stockholm. DICE is currently producing Battlefield 3. Nothing further to announce." With just one full title under that name, and the aforementioned mobile game, franchise sounds like an awfully strong word for Mirror's Edge. With that in mind, we'll try to keep our hopes up.]
