Looks amazing!
And I'll have a shiny new 360 to play it on by then,
as my old 'box got the three red lights last night. BOOM!

Not sure I get the buzz surrounding this game. It just looks boring. I'm not going to buy a game just for facial expressions. I mean sure it's a Rockstar game, but that doesn't automatically mean it'll be good, or fun. Just means it will have a high level of polish. The gameplay just looks dull to me.

Starting to remind me of the old Cinemaware games which I really enjoyed. Place that level of story and involvement with the Rockstar real world engine and I'm hoping this ones going to be a winner.

Okay, guys, Team Bondi are developing the game - Rockstart are simply publishing (although from what I heard they may have had to intervene and send help to work on it).

Anyway, it kinda sounds to me like the lines from the main character are straight from a recording studio - as in, sounds like he's talking in a small, echoy room rather than out in the open.

is anyone else kind of bugged that the biggest aussie game in ages is so... American?
I mean it's not that big of a deal it just seems kind of stupid. Why not do a Noir story in Sydney in the 1950's?

If only for the 'shotgunning a tinny of VB' mini-game.

I was going to say shooting for an 'Underbelly' vibe might work, but I realised I actually don't like any of the underbelly personalities at all. An 'Animal Kingdom'-esque crime family approach would be sweet, though.

Underbelly's only from like the mid 90's isnt it? I was more thinking Dirty Deeds style period crime in Sydney.

An Australian crime story is a nice idea in theory, but if a studio is going to put millions of dollars into a new IP they are not going to limit the key audience to a nation with such a small population.

I'm sure I saw a 1950's version of Underbelly advertised to air later this air. It was looking back at Australia crime.

Good point, I had assumed that since Rockstar was producing they'd given Team Bondi the GTA engine to work with (like a 1950s Hollywood Red Dead Redemption)

If that's not the case then we could end up with the story being supported by some generic 3d world engine (Mafia 2, Crackdown etc) where it's not quite as strong.

You say that like Crackdown wasn't ten times the game GTA 4 is.

Honestly I don't really buy the 'people wouldn't buy a game set in Australia' argument. Has a game being set in America ever had an effect on the sales of the game outside of America?
