Yes that's connection quality. Dismemberment should be giving you a kill if they actually drop dead after you do it. Some enemies do crawl around if you take out just their legs so watch out.

As for kill counts not registering, I don't see them when I kill pukers and spitters either. But I'm pretty sure they are still there because I do get a lot of kills.

Only annoying glitch I've noticed is sometimes the objectives disappear completely, I don't know why it happens, but this leaves the human team buggered and left for dead pretty much. Very annoying I hope a fix comes soon.

I'm not sure where I stand with Dead Space 2. Firstly, I find the initial startup time frustrating (on PC, where the Dead Space 2 title is shown for a few seconds before letting you actually go into the main menu), and whenever you select an option on the menu it has that whole Spiderman-esc moving title screen thing going on. Seriously, that stuff really gets on my nerves. I just want to play the blasted game, I don't want to sit through that tripe.

Anyways, the game itself. It's good, I find it fun to play, but it's nothing spectacular or revolutionary. Killing Necromorphs is fun and all but I'm finding that there is something missing. Maybe it's the setting, while evocative on an atmospheric sense, the sheer amount of gore and easily dismembered corpses shatters my sense of believability. Or maybe it's that I prefer Isaac as a mute. I don't know, I need to play it more (only up to Chapter 6) before I can form a complete conclusion.

I just beat it, couldn't wait for the night time I needed to finish it now I was addicted lol.

I played normal mode but I guess I just suck because I still found it very difficult, but at the end I had all the suits and guns, so I got to spend my 80000 credits on power nodes and ammo which was easy and nice.

I'm not sure about the scare factor in this one, I mean some parts really made me scared, especially chapter 11, but I think Dead Space 1 had the atmospheric scares going for it, this one was more pop up and make you jump stuff.

Also incredibly gory and you all mentioned it in the spoilers before, but Chapter 14 I think really sickened me

Overall a good improvement over the first and I'll definitely be getting Dead Space 3 the day it comes out.

Hard to believe that if I never picked up Dead Space 1 in the bargain bin last year as "pointless weekend fun" I would have never discovered this awesome series.

Edit: Did anyone notice the main menu? I think it changes as you go forward in single player which is awesome.

Just got my copy in the mail and have gone to play it, i'm at the second Save point before i realized my controller seem to be broken. The L2 and R2 button's aren't working. Luckily, i've got the Limited Edition, So i can play extraction until i get around to picking up a new controller.

So haven't posted but 2-3 days back. I restarted on survivalist (newgame+) and got to chapter 6 in 1 sitting. So much more awesome with guns and collecting nodes left right and powering up the other guns. icon_smile.gif I like new game plus - no suspense left but at least the actual tactical combat play holds up really well - was super fun. I used body parts a lot this time and with TK fully upgraded, 1 shot kill most normal enemies.

Might jump onto multiplayer later today.

Just got my platinum trophy for it. I played my first playthrough on Zealot, followed by a run on Normal NewGame+, then onto Hardcore for the last achievement.

Hardcore is essentially a new game that doesn't carry anything over from previous saves, has about the enemy power of Survivalist, but the drop rate of Zealot. Oh! And no checkpoints and 3 saves only.

For those of you that decide to try for it. I would recommend upgrading your RIG health and stasis ASAP.

Equipment-wise, I used the Plasma Cutter (dismemberment), Force Gun (close range) & Pulse Rifle (Secondary Fire, and against Packs). Finally I got the contact beam for boss fights and excess ammo selling.

I also pretty much carried at least 3 slots worth of Plasma Cutter ammo, 4 Med Packs (no higher than Medium) and 2 slots of Stasis charges.

Lastly, try and play defensively and don't sit on a yellow RIG health bar if you can, because all it can take is one ambush to die in an instant. Saves points is up to preference though, I saved at 7, 13 and 14.

Good luck with it, because the reward for finishing the mode is awesomesauce!

That is the reward for Hardcore mode along with the Soldier Suit. Zealot offers the Arctic Security Suit.

I think the toughest aspect was having two of any particular type of enemy (the Leapers for example). Two can seriously close your space for movement, and block your attempts to stasis further rear enemies (Exploders especially) coming up while you hack at the front row.

Just finished the game on survivalist. Fantastic game, I really enjoyed it. It was pretty tough in a few bits, having low health/ammo or the wrong gun could get all tough. At times I did feel like I was barely surviving and glad to get to a safe area. I ended up with 675/1000 or missing about 7 achievements.

9/10 from me.

I'm looking forward to seeing where they take Dead Space 3. I'd actually disappointed there wasn't a human vs human aspect to the game. I thought that was a missed opportunity.

To say it's better then the first is wrong. It's essentially the same game, less scares and more streamlined. I love them both.

I was going to try hardcore mode but 3 saves? Hrm, I'm not so sure I can take that. That is seriously hardcore with 3 saves. One #$%^ up and you've lost hours of gaming!

Hardcore seems a bit hardcore for me I'm afraid....I found normal hard enough and then the 3 saves thing scares me. I will however consider Zealot mode in a newgame+

I do like the fact that there is a HARDCORE mode. That is ... hardcore. That's what a achievement/trophy list should have on it for 100%.

I been playing the multiplayer alot and am up to level 23. However as of late the EA servers have been horrible...it takes AGES to join up to a match, sometimes I try for 20 minutes and still can't join a single bloody game. Suffers from dropouts too. Matches aren't spread evenly too and I often find myself and low level players matched against 3-4 40+ level players.

Terrible multiplayer support by EA which is a shame since it really is quite fun.

Have you ever had the annoying glitch when the objective disappears and it turns to a free for all? I hate that.

I do love the online though, but I reckon it needs more modes to shake it up a little and like you say, better matching. I hate it when me and my level 16 or something self gets teamed up with all the level 1's against level 40's.

lol yeah thats happened on several occasions...its like WTF?! The auto-selected spawn point for necromorphs is also a bit erratic. Sometimes the computer picks flat-out horrible points, and it wastes too much time to wait till your counter goes to zero, then ghost-roam until you find a good spot. They should allow you to ghost-roam while your respawn counter is counting down, that would save heaps more time.

Those who haven't played Extraction yet might want to. Why?

1) It's a good game with good characters

2) Severed is out March 1st apparently. Not sure if that's the same for us but....

http://www.destructoid.com/dead-space-2-severed-sees-the-return-of-the-twitcher-194830.phtml

I HATE the twitchers =(

Sorry boys and girls about this, I had just finished the game and wanted to talk about it, my bad.

EDIT: is the DLC single or multi? If its single I might hold off lending it to my brother in law.

DLC is single player, $11.45 and lasts roughly 1-2 hours.

Unfortunately it's not letting me buy it, some error code keeps popping up icon_sad.gif

Took me around 2 hours and doesn't add anything to Isaac's story really, but good if you liked Gabe Weller and Lexine in Extraction. Comes with 8 Achievements/Trophies too and you unlock some extra weapons in the main story I believe.

I enjoyed it, but for the $11.45 price tag, some will find this a waste.

Played through the first hour this arvo. Not bad. More of the same, but not bad so far. Hopefully the last half can ramp it up a notch.
