I hope this is going to be good too.
It probably won't be. _________________

Don't think I've ever seen a good 'alien invasion' movie come out of America. With Cloverfield and District 9 being two of my favourite movies, it's becoming one of my favourite genres, if you could call it one.
This movie will be good. I have high hopes for this one.

Cloverfield wasn't an alien
District 9 wasn't an invasion
(Also seriously, no love for Mars Attacks? or Killer Klowns from Out of Space?) _________________

Independence Day?
Sure, generic predictable story, but the FX for it's time were freaking awesome. Plus, Will Smith.
EDIT: Ah, completely missed Nietsche's post. And also +1 for Mars Attacks. I haven't seen Killer Klowns, but with a title like that, everybody wins.
EDIT EDIT: Also, the Original War of the Worlds, that's an invasion film, right? It set the tone for the entire genre, the formula it created is still used today.

Note the quote marks when I said 'alien invasion,' I didn't mean for it to be literally taken as an alien invasion, just movies with aliens/creatures on Earth in some form or another for whatever purpose. It was a bad description, and I still haven't made myself any clearer
Of course I love Mars Attacks, but it has alot of comedy so I don't consider it to be a serious 'alien type movie' so I didn't list it. Dunno what the Killer Clowns is, I'm assuming it's a d-grade movie and I never enjoy watching any of those.
Have the original War of the Worlds DVD to, how could I forget mentioning that!? One of my all-time favourites.

Yeah, I have a terrible memory when it comes to movies, I've only seen it once on its release and absolutely loved it, but completely forgot about where the creature exactly came from (just did a quick wiki). I think I'll just shut up now as I'm clearly not well versed as you guys on this topic. Carry on.

haha it doesn't actually say in the movie it all came out through following an insane retarded online alternate reality game involving evil corporations deep sea mining to make slushy drinks or something and waking it up or... something or other.
It was all pretty fucking stupid to be honest.
Cool movie though. _________________

It's better to believe that it was an alien invasion although from what I thought it was just a radioactive monster that got nuked so it grew a billion times bigger.

Giant monster, military involvement with little effect, screaming civilians. Might as well be.

I looked it up
| Quote: | | The monster is a deep-sea creature with an unknown evolutionary history. The species apparently has a very long life-span, as the creature is still an infant during the events of the film, regardless of being alive for thousands of years. It grew to its massive size through consuming large amounts of Seabed's Nectar, a natural steroid-like substance which is very addictive and causes increased cell division and growth, and is used by Tagruato's subsidiary company, "Slusho!", for use as their secret ingredient in their frozen drink of the same name. At some point afterwords, the monster went into a sort of hibernation. |

I haven't even seen Cloverfield, so you're not doing too bad.

Eh. Better than the excuse for the snakes in the Anaconda movies. "Oh, that flower makes them live for a really long time, so long they grow huge." Groan. I'd rather not know how my B-grade monsters came to exist, that nearly always ruins the story, although I guess that's just part and parcel of the genre.

The suck of Anaconda was part of it's charm though. I mean when you see has Ice cube in it then it's time to crack open the booze and turn your brain off.
You might actually like Cloverfield though, it doesn't give you any of that information in the film. The extent of what you know about the monster in the film is "OH SHIT A GIANT MONSTER! OH GOD!" _________________
