Most FPS have gone down this path, it's more about the online play.
Killzone has always had a pretty mediocre and bland storyline in there games (esp compared to alot of other FPS series), so I'm not to worried about the comments about the campaign. This game is all about the online for me.
I played more this arfo and played some squad team deathmatch with a mate and it was fun (apart from loading issues) and played extremely well with no lag at all. I love how you level up and can unlock weapons with the points. The leveling/point system is similar to COD, but I found the gameplay has that Battlefield feel, eg working as a team, using different classes. Overall its got a good blend of COD, Battlefield and Killzone (of course) and plays very well.
Oh, the controls are tigther, but still have that slight heavy feel to them, so its nicely balanced, esp compared to Killzone 2. _________________

So, I like it. Awesome visuals especially in 3D, plays well and feels alright.
Buuuutttt I'm kind of pissed off that they made things a lot easier to do.
-Sniping is piss now because of the lack of sixaxis motion steadiness required so any d**khead and their dog can be an invisible sniper and do decently with ease.
-People die really quick. REALLY quick. And while that's good in some cases, it's also bad with the tighter controls because it feels a little bit like CoD...which is exactly what we don't want.
-It feels like it's holding your hand a bit. Like, it can be challenging, but the tighter controls and movement make it feel a whole lot less punishing.
I dunno. I do like it, but I'm also disappointed that they made it a bit more casual so anyone can be decent at the game. Killzone 2 required work to be good and it was rewarding, and KZ3 currently doesn't feel that way. _________________

I've been away for a few days in Adelaide for the bigdayout can't wait to dl and start playing tonight. it's a shame to hear they turned multiplayer into easy mode, although if it's a good multiplayer shooter good players should always rise to the top. _________________

I agree with you there Denny, I found it much harder to master KZ2 then with this one. First two games were duds for me but after that I picked it up with ease. To be fair I only squeezed in 5 games last night as I was busy packing but I felt KZ2 had a steeper learning curve. I love it (KZ obsessive here) and it has improved on a lot of things over KZ2. Ill have to try it out on 3d when I get some more time but as soon as the game is released my ps3 will be living out in the lounge room connected to the 3d tv _________________

Clicking that link, I expected a 45 hour long campaign and proof of it. I was disappointed.
Cyph: The emphasis is still Killzone, but there's some CoD oil leaking in on it a bit in the sense that it's a loottttt easier to play. It's still great though. _________________

Pretty much everything you listed and dislike, I think is great. I hated Killzone 2, due to the heavy controls and enemies taking more fire before dieing. IMO, this a welcome change and one I'm glad for.
As for people saying the controls feel like COD, I'd say they feel more like Bad Company 2 than COD. It's just the point system is like COD.
It still feels like Killzone, but has a mix of BC2 and COD. _________________

Im not really digging the Beta/Demo/whatever theyre calling it.
Feels like Killzone 2.5, which isn't unexpected I guess.

I've let my PS3 cool off for the moment but once it's not as hot I'll give it a shot and let you know how it feels.
The game is great in 3D though. Really nice use of depth and doesn't strain the eyes at all.

And see, that's the issue I'm having with it.
Killzone 2 was distinctly Killzone and very different to CoD/BC/average military shooter, and it required different styles of play and adaptation. It punished you for mistakes and I really enjoyed that hardcore mentality where you improve the more you play. KZ3 kind of feels like it has a fairly low skill cap at the moment because it lacks punishment; there is no compelling reason to attempt to improve your play because there's nothing there that poses a sizeable challenge to master.
It has the feel of Killzone, but it lacks the soul of it at the moment. It's early days though, time will tell. _________________

Well early days or not, game has gone gold now so hopefully quite a bit changed from the Beta to the finished product.
I have my doubts. _________________

I've been using the move... I've only been playing bot matches just to get a feel for it and it's quite hard to get used to. It's too twitchy, but if you turn down the sensitivity it then becomes too slow so I'm a bit stuck.
I've sort of gotten used to it, aiming is pretty good but as soon as you have to do anything in a hurry at close quarters it's useless at the moment.
Plus having to thrust the move to do a melee complete throws your aim out... _________________

The more I play the Beta, the more disappointed and annoyed I am.
Went online for a few rounds and well, the team autobalance is way off (3 of us against like 9 people, gg), and it was surprisingly laggy. It feels a bit like a slower CoD overall and while some of the feel is there...it just doesn't give the KZ vibe much.
God damnit why the f**k did you listen to the tards Guerrilla. _________________

By the sounds of it, some people preferred KZ2's controls... not sure why, they annoyed the heck out of me.
Guess I'll download this tonight, blow the dust of the Move and give it a crack.

Just finished downloading and played a round, and yes quite disappointed also. Why the hell does every shooter have to be streamlined with the CoD style of play? I guess it doesn't pay off commercially to be unique anymore very sad indeed. | Quote: | | Killzone 2 was distinctly Killzone and very different to CoD/BC/average military shooter, and it required different styles of play and adaptation. I 100% agree. The first match i played infuriated the hell out of me playing against a side literally full of snipers seriously WTF! My side won the game quite easily since they had no interest in actually doing the objectives just sniping. _________________

Deifnitely like the controls much better in this game, at least with the Dual Shock. Using the Move, however... fustrating. The cursor is twitchy and turning sucks, plus I kept ending up looking at the ceiling every three seconds.
It might be possible to tweak the settings and get used to Move controls, but whether or not you could be bothered is the real issue. Might work better with the upcoming Sharp Shooter accesory, but my initial impressions of the Move controls are not good.

Interesting how this is the only site that has apparently reported this "short" length. Another site has mentioned 6-8 hours.

I guess we'll find out when it's actually released... _________________

I've given up on using the move, I just don't find it fun. I improved a hundred fold as soon as I went back to the controller.
Anyways I played a few games last night, the first one was warzone which my team won easily. However in the lobby afterwards there were a few people discussing how they went and how one of them had just reached lvl 21, so I made a comment that I thought I did pretty well for my first game(18 kills, 18 deaths, 4 assists) and that I went up 3 levels so they all said they're gonna put me on mute? Bunch of elitist w*nkers.
I then played a few games of just straight up deathmatch and this 10 year old kid(they sounded about that age) was complaining the whole time that someone was cheating when in reality it just seemed like they sucked...
So I found the gameplay fun, but as usual the community was a bunch of morons. _________________
